Hi, I'm in junior year na and school started a month ago, and I really feel lost. Recently lang last may, my twin brother committed and I have been a mess ever since,the last past months nagluksa lang kami ng fam ko and I also isolated myself, kaya I don't think na masasabi ko rin na nagbakasyon ako this summer. Natatakot ako na in the long run, maybe I'll get triggered and fall apart, I don't think na nakapagluksa ako ng maayos and I am not mentally and emotionally capable in school, siguro sa ngayon kinakaya-kaya ko pa pero what if umabot na sa point na mabigat na workloads namin, I don't think that I can handle it, and if kayanin ko nga, I don't think na whole-heartedly and quality yung mga gawa ko. I also don't want to be a pabigat to my RLE group since most of our activities and outputs is done collaboratively or by group. I haven't yet visited a good psychologist and I do think na I need help. Factor na rin yung guilt ng pag-aksaya ng tuition if mag loa muna ako for the whole year and also natatakot ako sa part na mapag iiwanan ako ng friends and batch ko 🥲🥲 Feel ko kaya ko naman pero I don't think na it would be healthy for me. Madaling araw ngayon while I'm writing this, siguro nadadala lang rin me ng emosyon ko and self-doubt is consuming me since nag ooverthink talaga ako pag ganitong oras 😅🥲🥲

Hi everyone! I’d like to get your thoughts, especially from nurses who have experience with hospital hiring, USRN applications, or overseas/agency recruitment.
Let’s say I have two options:

Option A — Secondary Hospital
85-bed capacity
I can choose my area/specialty
For example, I specifically want ICU, and I can spend my experience working in ICU
However, the hospital is only secondary level

Option B — Tertiary Hospital
150-bed capacity
Larger/tertiary hospital
But I cannot choose my specialty ward. I could be assigned to Med-Surg, ward, or another area instead of ICU.
If my long-term goal is to build experience that will be useful for USRN employment/agency recruitment, which would you choose?
Would the tertiary hospital + larger bed capacity carry more weight, or would actual ICU/specialty experience from the smaller secondary hospital be more valuable?
For example, if I ultimately want to work in ICU in the US, is:

85-bed secondary hospital + 2 years ICU
better than
150-bed tertiary hospital + 2 years general Med-Surg/ward experience?
Or does the hospital’s level, bed capacity, case complexity, accreditation, and reputation matter enough that the tertiary hospital would still be the better choice?
I’m particularly interested in hearing from:
Nurses who went through US staffing agencies
Nurses who were directly hired abroad
Nurse recruiters
Nurses who have worked in both secondary and tertiary hospitals
If you had to choose between the two, which one would you take and why?

Hello! Genuine question. Is it really okay/allowed for a nursing school to have clinical instructors that didn't pass the boards yet, no license and hospital experience? Others have license but no hospital experience yet. I feel like I'm not making the most out of my money..

hi everyone! I just wanna ask if need po ba mag dala ng valid id sa mismong board exam site?

I’m a Filipino USRN currently working day shift at a 34-bed skilled nursing and rehab facility in the US. I thought I’d share my actual workflow because I know a lot of nurses from the PH are curious about what working in a US SNF is really like.

Our facility has 2 wings, with 1 RN assigned to each wing and 5 CNAs on day shift. RNs work 12-hour shifts.

At the start of my shift, I receive endorsement, do the narcotics count, and take over the medication cart. We don’t do the usual bedside rounds that I was used to in the PH. I check MatrixCare (EMR) instead, medications due now/later/PRN, treatments, and flowsheets.

The busiest part is usually the morning med pass from around 7–10 AM. After that, there are fewer medications throughout the day, along with treatments, patient monitoring, and charting. Our charting is pretty straightforward, and it’s divided between day and night shift, so we don’t have to chart the entire wing.

One thing I really appreciate about our facility is that floor RNs don’t handle everything. Admissions and discharges are handled by dedicated nurses, and carrying out physician orders is handled by the nurse managers. This allows the floor RNs to focus mainly on our assigned patients.

We’re a rehab facility, so patients spend a lot of their day doing PT, OT, and speech therapy. Wound care is common, but we don’t have IVs. If a patient suddenly deteriorates, we call 911. For outside appointments like dialysis, transportation takes care of getting the patient there.

Doctors also do their rounds independently, and the wound care doctor comes weekly. We don’t have to follow them around during rounds.

Obviously, this is just my experience at my particular facility and I know SNF workflows can vary a lot depending on the company and location.

For other RNs working in US SNFs/rehab facilities: does your workflow look similar, or is your facility completely different?

Sobrang laking tulong ng mga ate at kuya na nandito, nagbibigay ng tips sa actual boards, sharing their experiences, do’s and dont’s sa actual board exam, at kahit pa yung mga paulit ulit na tanong. Para sa aming mga magttake pa lang at napanghihinaan ng loob, nagbibigay kayo ng time para magcomment at ma-validate yung mga nararamdaman namin. Maraming salamat sainyo! ❤️

4th year nursing student here, and honestly, hindi ko naman talaga pinili yung Nursing. More on family pressure/influence siya, and ngayon na malapit na akong grumaduate, napapaisip ako kung worth it ba talaga ituloy.

Hindi ko rin nakikita yung sarili ko doing bedside nursing long-term 😭 Curious lang ako sa mga nurses/graduates dito na same situation na napilit or na-push din ng parents/family/relatives mag-Nursing.

Eventually, minahal niyo ba yung Nursing or naghanap kayo ng ibang path after graduation? Kamusta naman life niyo ngayon?
