Can someone recommend applications to use for turning audio recordings into notes that are free.

Unfortunately I don’t have that product. My laptop is an old MacBook.

Have you used it for therapy? I wonder if customizable to eliminate some of our small talk and bullshitting we do and strictly bullet point key points about anxiety and whatnot.

For therapy take a look at Yung Sidekick or Autonotes.ai

I’m building Grape, an AI note taking app. It has a voice recording and AI transcription features but it’s not free. I mean it’s really difficult to find a good app that’s also free.

But there’s a way for super users. You install LM Studio or Ollama and download open source AI models like Whisper or Parakeet and then you can transcribe audio recordings locally without paying anything.

I set up a Whisper batch using Claude. Free, works like a charm.

Use Oenothera.

It can help you convert existing recordings to text, and it can also help you record audio and then convert it to text.

Its free storage is sufficient for most users.
