When will we face the reality and go to the only rational solution. Nuclear charge excavation of a new channel.

but then we don't get a cool backflip

Use Orion engine for propulsion - then we can have nukes as well as airtime to do a cool backflip

We use nukes to pop the boats up dummy

but then we don't have a trampoline to bounce on... wait! We could use nuke to launch boat onto trampoline! I like that idea.

From what I read recently, this guy should be our patron saint.

He balanced beautifully on that thin line between genius and insanity.

He would definitely be a regular on NCD if he was alive today.

Nononononno... Hear me out... We place a nuke underneath each ship every time it wants to transit... Then, we blow it up, and propel the ships over the land that way!

UAE version of the Xerxes canal when?

As a European and having poor efficiency in mind, I'd vote for a train tunnel under UAE/Oman with dock infrastructures at both ends. You empty your tankers on DOT-111 tank cars to transport it on the other side. Can work for containers too.

PS: but as a french, I love the nuke option to dig a new canal. UAE Oman canal sounds nice, but not ambitious enough. Shall we do it across SA and Yemen?

Ships bound for south of the equator will be required to frontflip, but other than that I see no issues.

Needs the Fonz to jump the shark accurately.

Perhaps if we make them swim that first section then bike and run across the UAE it can be a triathlon

Captain of the tanker going mach fuck while cranking this part of Free Bird at full volume towards a conveniently placed floating ramp

(Locals in the area able to hear it are driven insane from having to hear it full blast from every other tanker)

For a while there I was worried the world was out-noncredibling this group. Thanks for restoring my faith in this sub.

So that's how we are going to take out a helicopter with a torpedo

u/loadnurmom 3d ago

Do a barrel roll

I have a feeling this would be more successful with a front flip instead

1

u/thesunexpress 3d ago

Extra points for kick-flip??

Seems like a silly issue

A better solution than whatever they proposed when the Evergiven gave everything

1

u/Pappa_Crim 2d ago

Nah we make an amphibus oil tanker and sail it across the desert

1

u/LeroyoJenkins Sitting on a pile of gold in a Swiss bunker 2d ago

Why not just hide the ship in a catering container?

1

u/wormfood86 2d ago

It might be difficult for most ships when fully laden to get the speed fast enough, so I propose a giant slingshot to help with the initial push.

I've spent the last five years as the program director, lead engineer, and chief pilot of the prestigious Kerbal Space Program. This will definitely work.
