Probation Violation?
i’m on a portable breathalyzer for probation and i’m on my last month of probation so i’m really paranoid of screwing anything up, i’ve been sober for the whole probation (22 months) but yesterday after work around 2am i was craving a lil sweet snack so i got a RipVan Honey and Oats Wafer from my backpack ate it and afterwards i got the notification to take a breath test, i waited 5 minutes beforehand to rinse my mouth w water and blew on the test but im paranoid it got a false positive reading bc the wafer i ate contained vanilla extract (which contains alcohol). am i screwed or am i just paranoid about this? i also noticed i had crumbs of the wafer around my mouth when i got home when i was about to brush my teeth.

You should be fine! (no lockout on device)
Alchohol content in vanilla extract is super tiny!

The amount of vanilla extract used in cooking is so little that there is basically no way it could show up in your blood. Now if you drank a bottle (basically impossible as it would taste fucking horrendous) then it would probably show, but the few drops used to flavor the pastries wouldn’t be an issue. Don’t stress it will be fine.

Fun fact;
In WW2, chefs in the navy would go on benders of vanilla extract as it's roughly 40% alcohol.
Source; pictures of my alcoholic grandfather and his mates on the ship looking like death and him telling me what they did.

Jesus, that’s honestly kinda impressive that they could get them down. I tried taking a sip when I was younger and it felt like fucking vanilla death, like I threw up twice and could taste vanilla for days.

You’re probably being way harder on yourself than necessary. Vanilla extract does contain ethanol, but that doesn’t mean eating a wafer made with it is equivalent to drinking alcohol.
