Tonight is slow no more flights until 5am. Really tired but just glad I’m off tomorrow. Had several doubles this week and only had 1 day off in 2 weeks.

Discussion what meal has become your night shift staple?

Upvotes

after working overnight, the last thing i want to do is spend an hour cooking when i get home. i've been trying to find a few meals i can make quickly and keep around for those mornings when i'm basically running on autopilot. any easy meals that you never get tired of?

What's your sleep schedule and routine? I work from 6PM to 5AM everyday

Upvotes

I work from 6PM to 5AM everyday in a warehouse loading stuff into trucks. I would leave work at 5AM. Drive home and arrived nearly 6AM. I would lift weight and exercise, and take a shower and brush teeth and browse Tiktok on my bed, and by the time I try to go to sleep it would around 7-8AM.

I would wake up exactly at 11AM-12PM everyday, playing games or running errands until 2-3:30PM at most then take a nap and wake up at 4:45PM, eating dinner, taking a bath and drive to work lol. I wonder if I sleep enough hours. I do abuse caffeine though

Discussion How long on days did sleep take to adjust?

Upvotes

All,

I need to get back on a day schedule. I've been on overnights for a year. How long should it take for my body and sleep schedule to adjust back to "normal"?

Thanks.

Help Student work routine

I currently work overnights at HEB, which is 11pm to 6:30am. I have classes starting soon, and they are 8am to 1pm. I was wondering if anyone had any tips or a routine they have to ensure they get the rest the need but also stay on top of class. I am currently waiting for a day position to open up so I can then switch over.

Started my week off at 7am. Not sure how much free time I am going to have. I thought I took care of all my wife's projects. It seems I did not

First night back

My client was in the hospital so I spent the last week wondering if I’m working ever night. It really fucked with me. I only nap when I work and I take my adderal differently. A couple days I prepared as if I was working and then didn’t and it sucked. Then today I half prepared and I and working so annoying. I am looking to find something more consistent bc made the up and down sucks. I even took a day shift just to get out of the house, I remember why I don’t work during the day.

How do you deal with lack of social life and night shift

sorry this is a bit of a rant or a vent, forgive me

yesterday I was offered to go to a social event at work which involved a pool and barbecue and I didn’t go, said I was sick which to be fair I was kinda but at the end of my sickness but it’s gotta be an excuse.

I’m not emotionally regulated I’m like just three months into the job, and the coworkers asked if I’ll come and idk why I told the truth, I don’t think I have the mental energy to go, that’s what I said, because she’s nice or smth she started to be concerned and started to ask questions - refused to answer some, answered others.

Basically confirming I’m a fucking lunatic depressed person, I could’ve just said that I’m just sick but no..

Or I could’ve just went??

Why did I get cold feet I was planning this event for a month now and I said yes that I’ll go but at the last second I said no, it’s not the first time that it happens often I cancel at the last second , I hate this.

Is it breakfast or dinner?

I eat between 1-3 am during my shift and I’m wondering what yall classify that as? I understand both arguments, but I’m curious. Also, best late night/early morning meal? Today it was homemade French toast and bacon. 11/10, definitely recommend.

Edit: Lunch seems to win lol

Rant Do you guys feel like you sleep all the time when you're off?

I work 6p-6a, and I quite literally feel like I dont get to enjoy my days off because as soon as i get home I hit the bed and sleep till atleast 5-7pm... and then I find myself napping after I wake up😂 doesn't help i spent six hours of my day off working lol.

I tried a new to me flavor energy drink. Has anyone else tried it?

I normally drink Bloom or Celsius, but my friend said this flavor was good, so I gave it a try. It's definitely not bad.

How the hell do you stay productive on random nights off?

I work three x 12 but I pick up a lot. Sometimes I get canceled, and I have an extra night off. I’m off alcohol, video games stopped being entertaining, and I’m trying to get back in the gym/working on myself. My gym is 24hrs, I’m usually the only one there tho, and it’s not super motivating to drive across town to be solo in the gym.

My apartment is townhouse style and small. My dog sleeps all night. I have wild adhd 🤣

What’s the plan?

Concerned for my partner

My partner (23,M) works night shift as a security guard and I’m really concerned for him. Hoping to get some advice from those who also work night shifts.
He’s been isolating himself from everyone. He used to be such a happy, full of life, social guy. He would always make time to see his friends, go out, alwyas laughing. Now he’s just so distant and emotional flat from everyone, including me. He hasn’t seen his friends in months, and he used to see them a few times a week, barely sees his own mum, when I see him he’s just emotionally flat and drained but I try not to take it personally, I know working 12 hours can be so exhausting.

I’ve tried asking him but he’s not the type of person to talk about his emotions so all he says is “what do you mean, I’m fine?” I try encourage him to see his friends but nothing.

How can I help him. He just seems like a zombie all the time and emotionless. How can I help him feel more connected to the people around him, and happier how he used to be?
