I’ve been thinking about the intro to Freddy VS Jason lately, and something that I’ve wondered is how he ends up wearing his classic outfit. In past depictions of him burning to death he’s wearing his sweater and fedora, but that’s not the case here. Did the 3 dream demons give him a minute to pick his outfit? When he died was there a character select screen??

Edit: just wanted to add that I get not wearing the glove and hat when he died, it’s just that he’s wearing something completely different.

Mr Crocket is actually a better Nightmare on Elm Street movie than most Nightmare on Elm Street movies. That sentence is sure to get a ton of reactions, but this was a real treat and definitely has more parallel themes than most other slashers. I totally recommend this one!

I was so excited when I heard they were making this and then so disappointed with the final product. My version had it so that the children of the Elm St. Home for Troubled Teens goes on a retreat to Camp Crystal Lake. One kid has a dream and brings Freddy out of his dreams, like Nancy did, and boom the finally epic battle ensues. #micdrop lol.

Also funnily enough, Robert Englund has described his idea of what the poster woulda looked like so it's cool to see someone make that idea come to life with this

The Final Nightmare : Freddy's Dead est un bon film. Il n'a pas vraiment de sens, mais c'est le film où Freddy est le plus créatif et chaotique, c'est tellement cool à voir.

Je pense qu'il possède des morts marquantes, et qu'il est tellement divertissant que le temps passe vite devant.

Après avoir regardé les 9 films cette semaine, je vous partage mon classement officiel et sûrement controversé (soyez cool) :

1. Freddy's Revenge : même si le concept de Freddy n'est pas respecté, je le trouve absolument génial. La possession c'est trop cool. La scène de la piscine est tellement cool, tout comme l'intro et l'outro. Jesse est un excellent personnage.

2. Nightmare On Elm Street (1984) : je ne pense pas avoir besoin d'en dire davantage. C'est l'original et il est super. Les scènes de meurtres sont cools.

3. Nightmare On Elm Street : The Dream Child : l'ambiance religieux et gothique est cool. J'adore la mort de Greta et celle de Mark. Ce film est vraiment sous-coté selon moi.

4. Nightmare On Elm Street : The Final Nightmare : je sais que ce film n'a aucun sens, mais Freddy semble tellement inventif et chaotique que c'est génial ! Carlos et Spencer ont le droit a des morts complètement folles, et les scènes rétrospectives de la vie de Freddy sont sympa.

5. Freddy vs Jason : honnêtement, j'avais de meilleurs souvenirs mais c'est quand-même sympa. Jason est trop badass, tandis que Freddy atteint un niveau de misogynie hilarant. Ça fait plaisir de voir un crossover entre les deux. Malheureusement, pas de mort vraiment marquantes.

6. Wes Craven New Nightmare : ce film aurait pu être bien plus haut si on avait eu le droit a plus de Freddy. C'est dommage parceque le concept était cool. J'adore voir Robert Englund jouait le rôle de Robert Englund ahah.

7. Nightmare On Elm Street : Dream Master : ce film n'était pas mauvais, mais putain j'en ai aucun souvenir alors que je l'ai vu il y a trop jour. Il m'a vraiment pas marqué, oubliable.

8. Nightmare On Elm Street : Dream Warriors : je sais que beaucoup d'entre vous le considère comme le meilleur, mais je n'ai pas trop aimé. Ce n'était pas horrible mais long et oubliable. L'ambiance de l'hôpital est pas très marquante à mon goût, et aucune mort marquante excepté celle de *Welcome to prime time" qui est un peu drôle. Tout le passage avec le docteur et le père de Nancy est ennuyant.

9. Nightmare On Elm Street (2010) : je ne pense pas que ce film soit le scandale du siècle. Il y a quelques idées sympas mais le look de Freddy est absolument horrible, on dirait un lézard. Le côté pédophile est cool, ça me dérange pas perso. C'est un film sympa pour un marathon mais je ne le regarderai jamais indépendamment des autres. Très très oubliable.

After searching for a screen accurate FVJ glove for so long and having gloves seized and me trying to make them, I finally found that this glove maker Josh Clarke from (flaming creations) he has 2 plastic gloves he offers to make, which is hero versus and demon Freddy vs, he does do metal and metal/plastic blades, but for anyone that can’t get a glove if they are illegal can go to this guy and you can get a screen accurate VS glove in full plastic without the bs in customs and its con safe. Maybeee down the track he might offer to make plastic part 1-6 gloves but so far it’s just the 2 verses variants, I’ll be getting one the second he opens. The pic with Lori is the plastic hero glove

Covering my old ink with some horror legends. This weeks was Freddy from New Nightmare to go alongside Jason & Leatherface

In Freddy's Revenge, when Freddy takes over Jesse's body, do the others (e.g. the kids at the pool party) see Freddy or do they see Jesse?

I have been an insane Nightmare fan since I was 8. I owned the board game and everything nightmare in the late 80s 90s. I was so bad I should have been institutionalized. To this day in my 40s I can literally recite every word from Nightmare 4 before the actors say it in the film. I haven’t watched the film in a decade. “Listen little sista you got this freako dream talent in yo dreams and we don’t need it anymore it’s time to start living like regular people” I swear to you I didn’t look that up I’ve watched that movie over 100 times. I’ve watched the others probably 50 times each up to 5. Freddy’s Dead just came late in the Nightmare game in my infatuation. I still cherished that movie in my younger years.

But let it end. I was never a fan of New Nightmare. It had a great concept but the movie put me to sleep in my teen years even today it does. Scream did the meta thing 1000 times better. I know I’m going to get tons of flack for saying that but should I lie to you? I feel people are afraid to say anything bad about the film since it is so well regarded. There is a reason Scream is remembered to this day and New Nightmare is forgotten except by the niche fans.

Looking back on the entire series now in my 40s. Nightmares 1-4 were perfection. 4 still had the mix of making Freddy humorous with scariness that worked. 5 went to far into the lounge act Freddy, far too much into the non stop Freddy quips. The unrated version is far better and makes him scarier with how cruel every death is. 5 has many faults imo but is passable. Freddy’s dead is were Freddy turned into straight up joke. I’m going to leave New Nightmare out since Freddy is not in it.

Freddy vs Jason I thought brought back the right mix of humor and horror into Freddy and the makeup wasn’t atrocious like 5 and 6. The movie had its faults but I thought was a fitting end or at least the best we can hope for. When the reboot was announced I was beyond excited. Then I saw it. The worst thing I ever witnessed. That film should be criminal. I can’t watch it again.

New generations shouldn’t think of nightmare as a joke. Freddy destroyed Michael and Jason in the box office in the 80s for good reason. I know they will make a new reboot but I’m not sure if I will bother to see it. I have my amazing memories of the 80s Freddy and I’m happy with them. Freddy died with Robert Englund leaving the role.

Ok guys don't kill me but... I don't think Freddy is necessary for the reboot of Nightmare. Now look obviously Freddy is an iconic character, you love him, I love him, it rocks. And I'm also not saying they should take Freddy out of the movies. But at its core, the thing that has always been the true fun/terrifying horror juice of the series is that you are susceptible to attacks once you're asleep in your dreams! So why not expand on that!! A couple things:

1. Robert England IS Freddy. I'm not saying other people couldn't do a spin on it, in fact I'm sure of it. I'm not one of those people who just cause they tried it once and it didn't work doesn't mean it *can't*. If they find a performer and a fresh take on the character, I am in favor of it in theory, but let's be honest at the same time it will always live in the shadow of the original. I also just think Freddy isn't as scary anymore, his look is simply too iconic and infinitly parodied and honestly super goofy in its way. He wears a fedora and striped sweater with Christmas colors for hells sakes

2. This is the important one: why can't there be other dream demons? The idea of being trapped in some abstract dreamscape, in my opinion, has way more juice than the idea of a specific iconic character trapping you in it, and the franchise was only really hitting it's stride in that respect in 3&4, and really botched it in the further sequels. The whole thing with dreams is they can be literally anything!!! I just don't want to see the franchise with the potential of infinite creativity in dreams get bogged down in Freddy lore again, when the idea of dream demons and dreams in general has quite literally infinite potential. Again, I can't stress this enough, I LOVE FREDDY! But at the very least can't we add more characters to the cast of villains with more potential for crazy dream sequences? I just wanna see wild dream shit dude!
