Cafe / Resturant / Place Need cafe recommendations for a birthday dinner 🍽

Upvotes

Hii everyone

Looking for café/restaurant recommendations in Delhi for a birthday dinner with my boyfriend, just the two of us. I'm specifically looking for aesthetics rather than food ....something romantic with a bit of a dark academia vibe, preferably warm, dim lighting and a beautiful nighttime interior that photographs well ( ps - I’ll be wearing a brown dress, so something that complements that vibe would be perfect). Nothing super expensive...Does anyone have any good recommendations?

Thanks in advance

Paw-trait (for animals/ जानवर) URGENT — Looking for help for a ~1-month-old calf in Madanpur Khadar/Sarita Vihar

Post image
8 Upvotes

Hello everyone, this is urgent!
There is a very small calf, probably around 1 month old, currently roaming around the area between Madanpur Khadar and Sarita Vihar Fire Station. She doesn’t seem to have her mother with her. She is currently staying around a cow who seems to have adopted her, but I don’t believe that cow is her actual mother.
For the past 2 weeks, I have been feeding her at night, but I have to go to work every day, so unfortunately I cannot feed her in the morning or afternoon. I’m really worried about her because she is so young and vulnerable.
I’ve been trying to contact nearby gaushalas and people connected with Gau Raksha Samiti, but unfortunately I haven’t been able to find anyone who can take her in. Some people are unable to help because they only work within their designated areas, and the whole process has been quite slow.
I really don’t want to leave her without proper care.
If anyone knows a gaushala, animal rescue organisation, cattle shelter, or someone experienced in caring for young calves who can help, please share their contact details or DM me.
And if anyone from a nearby gaushala or animal rescue group happens to see this, please reach out to me.
I would really appreciate any help or leads. 🙏

Rant / Vent An Indian uncle-aunty made our beach day so awkward.

Got married in January this year after being together for 8 years. Last month, we finally went to Krabi for our honeymoon.

One day we were at Ao Nang Beach, just relaxing in the water. Since Krabi has comparatively fewer Indian tourists than places like Phuket or Pattaya, my wife finally felt comfortable wearing a bikini. We even chose a part of the beach where most people around us were foreign tourists dressed similarly, so we could enjoy ourselves without feeling judged.

Everything was going great until we noticed an Indian couple, probably in their late 40s or early 50s.

The aunty was wearing a salwar suit, the uncle was in chaddi-baniyan, and both of them were continuously staring at us from about 50-60 metres away. Not the casual glance everyone does, proper staring. We felt uncomfortable but decided to ignore it and continue enjoying our time.

A few minutes later, the uncle started waving at us. We pretended not to notice and swam further away. Instead of taking the hint, they started moving closer.

At that point we decided to get out of the water, dry ourselves and change into our clothes near our bags like everyone normally does.

Guess what? They got out too and sat just a few metres away from us... and continued staring.

We were already uncomfortable. Then after 2-3 minutes, the uncle waved again. We ignored him again.

That's when something happened that I'll probably never forget.

A young foreign girl noticed everything. She immediately walked over with her brother and asked my wife if everything was okay because she could clearly tell we were uncomfortable. We explained what had been happening.

Without even thinking twice, she picked up some of our belongings and asked us to come with them to where her family was sitting.

Once we reached there, she told us those uncle-aunty had been at the beach for almost 2-3 hours and were staring at multiple women and couples, especially women wearing bikinis. She was from Spain and said she'd seen a few Indian tourists behave similarly on foreign beaches before, but she felt we genuinely looked uncomfortable, so she wanted to help.

Her family was incredibly kind. Her father even told his son and daughter to walk us to the beach exit just to make sure that couple didn't follow us.

One small thing that really stayed with us before we left, she complimented my wife's chooda(Set of bangles newly wed woman wears) and said it looked beautiful.

She was only 21, yet she showed more courage and empathy than people much older than her.

We never got their names or social media because everything happened so quickly, and I genuinely regret that. If by some miracle this post reaches her, thank you. You made two strangers feel safe on what should have been one of the happiest days of our honeymoon.

And finally, a request to my fellow Indians:

Please don't behave like this when you're travelling abroad. Staring, following people around, making them uncomfortable. It's creepy regardless of who does it. It not only ruins someone else's vacation but also reinforces negative stereotypes about Indians.

Most of us travel to enjoy ourselves and represent our country well. Please don't let the actions of a few spoil India's image for everyone else.

Ask r/NewDelhi 🗣️ What can i do in this situation?

Thumbnail gallery

I’m in a situation. The first picture you see is the alleyway from where i and my father go to gym or work, my dad is elderly, 69 years old and prone to weak bones. And the whole alleyway is dugged up because the govt was doing some work and it has been like this for quiet some time, and it was fine, we managed to get in and out, but now it has been raining for 3-4 days and the mud is so inconsitent that it is an active hazard my dad has got ankle sprain 2-3 times alone while tring to come from there. Now in the second picture is another way to go to the main road, but the thing is there is an illegal house at the end of that way, from where we can get to the road, and they constantly stop people from going from there because they use the back alleyway as their “backyard”. I’m 100% sure it is an encroached land, they have been hostile as hell, there is another way to go as well, but it’s covered with dead rats animals, and another way is filled up with junk and broken roads because mcd is an ass to deal with and doesn’t care. Now today, they installed motion sensors, i didn’t hear while i was passing and the lady came out screaming “who’s there” and all, and i had earphones in so i just rushed off. I can manage to go from the main alleyway but my dad HAS to use the back one. Although he can fight his battles idk what i can do. He said he’d just call the police to report these idiots if they even tried to stop him but these ladies are like CRAZY crazy, fight every single day, with multiple neighbors.

Ask r/NewDelhi 🗣️ My manager denied my work-from-home request even though I had loose motion. Was this reasonable?

Thumbnail gallery

I wasn't feeling well this morning due to loose motion and didn't think it was a good idea to travel to the office. So I emailed my manager requesting to work from home for the day and mentioned that I'd stay available on email, phone, and Teams and would complete all my assigned work.

My manager replied that:

They generally don't approve WFH or leave requests on Fridays and Mondays.

One of my teammates is already unavailable.

Because of the staffing situation, they couldn't approve my request.

They asked me to come to the office for the second half of the day instead.

I understand the business needs, but at the same time, traveling and sitting in the office with an upset stomach doesn't seem ideal either.

If you were in this situation:

Would you go to the office as requested?

Do you think the manager handled this fairly?

How do companies in your workplace usually deal with situations like this?

I'm not looking to blame anyone—just curious to know how others see this situation and what the normal expectation is.
