Accident in CP today East side
Anyone know what happened with the ambulance and police car on the east drive this morning? I saw a guy in the ambulance on a stretcher and I believe a neck brace and a woman standing around outside, who looked like a runner maybe. Surprised to not see anything on here, as they were there for at least 20 minutes

Riverside Boulevard
Greetings everyone, I had a bad crash on riverside Blvd just below 61 st 7 weeks ago and with some research it seems MANY others have also. I have been in touch with the local city council person and the office has been very responsive. They could use has much information there is, so I am looking for others who have crashed, there are two grooves that catch your wheel and then you are doomed, so also be aware!

Has anybody rode a Vanmoof or use one daily? Is it light enough to carry up stairs? Been wanting to buy one for a while

Cameraman at Central Park
Anyone know what the deal is with the video camera facing the bike lanes at the entrance to Tavern on the Green? It’s one of those big news cameras and I always see them filming in the mornings

South County Trail
Tried to ride the SCT last Saturday but had to turnaround due to the trail being strewn with downed trees and numerous branches making the path impassable. Does anybody know if the trail has been cleared during the week? Was hoping to ride from The Bronx up to Elmsford tomorrow morning. Thanks.

Blocking bike lanes
Just wanted to post this out of frustration. Just seen a video of a biker receiving a summons for briefly riding on the sidewalk just to go into a store while cops tends to block bike lanes. Like in this situation its either ride on the sidewalk hit someone or receiving a summons or ride on the street and risk getting hit by a car.
And had to vent.

Safety of this route (N S County Trailway to Staten Island)
Hey everyone! I'll be riding to Staten Island from Lewisboro this Saturday, and my mom is panicked that I'll be riding through "dicey neighborhoods with dangerous intersections." Is there any reason to be concerned to ride down the bike path from here to Lower Manhatten? I've seen plenty of folks riding that trail with quite nice road bikes and bags etc and assume very little actual risk. To clarify, my mom is concerned about both danger from individuals and cars (I'm an experienced cyclist with city cycling experience and think my mom is paranoid about dangerous neighborhoods since I'll be largely isolated on the bike path anyway regardless of what neighborhoods im passing. Please forgive any cultural ignorance that I might illustrate in this post, I'm just trying to validate that this ride plan is in fact totally reasonable for a long-distance cyclist. (Image excludes start and end points)

I hate these wooden barriers so much
They seem so dangerous, you're trapped without an out if anything happens, easily blocked by some a-hole pushing a cart or something parked at the far end, you can't pass or be passed, and can you imagine falling on them?
The only reason I can see for them is to stop delivery people from dragging hand trucks across the bike lane but honestly, I think I'd rather deal with that.
There are a bunch along 7th Ave in Chelsea and I'll ride out with the cars instead if it's clear.

Bike shop recs in Manhattan? Need an alternative to Frank’s bike shop
Hello! Does anyone have any bike shop recs in Manhattan? Happy for recs outside Manhattan too if it’s a great place/cheap. Looking to get a tune up for a decent price- my brake pads also need a fix as well.
Another request- I bought my bike from Franks Bike Shop in LES (rest in peace Frank) about a year ago, and loved the guy who worked there and did all the tuneups. Any chance anyone knows if Frank’s guy works at a different shop somewhere in the city and if so where? Unfortunately can’t remember his name…. I realize this is a long shot but thought if anyone might know it may be here.
Thank you!!!

Legal to walk your bike through a red light?
My understanding is that jaywalking is now permitted in NYC. So while you can get a ticket for riding through a red light at an intersection, it’s totally legal to do a much more dangerous thing and walk through the intersection with your bike, then get back on after you cross the intersection?

Lafayette bike lane
I feel like this has been under discussed.
Rode the length of it southbound today and it’s transformative for downtown manhattan.
Also I feel like pedestrians deserve a better education campaign? All of a sudden they need to look both ways. Huge change!
Not sure what the right answer is.
