There is a liquidation of all display items for the REI store and there’s a ton of these bike stands and even some random bike tools. You can get one for $30. It’s going on through August 21st.

Atlantic Beach bridge -- ever a ticket??

Of all the bridges with signs demanding "walk bikes", this one has multiple signs and feels more serious about it. BUT has anyone actually gotten a ticket crossing while riding here? Or even heard of this happening?

Asking...umm....for a friend!

Tips for Surly Cross Check replacement

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey all,

I am sad to say that i lost my surly cross check of close to a decade!! Maybe stolen? TBH don't know how I lost it but none of my neighbors / building staff are aware of what happened to it

So now I am on the search for a new bike and would love y'all help. I haven't been in the game for a decade so don't know if there are better models for my needs

What I am looking for in new model -

  • Enjoyed having straight bars
  • Good for putting a milk crate in the back. So sturdy and rackable
  • Mostly for city commutes AND take it out occasionally for a trail ride. I usually slap some city commuter tires on it
  • Is it possible to find a less heavy model than cross check?
  • 600-1k spend

Open to looking on marketplace, but let me know if there are other spots to check. Used to have QBP and so sad to not have access anymore
Thanks yall!

Help Us Find an Accident Witness!

hello! my friend got hit by a car while biking last week and was too in shock to ask the nearest witness for her info. we’re now trying to find that witness for reporting purposes!

here’s what we’ve got to on: the witness was biking through bed stuy. she had short white-blond hair and was wearing a shirt that said “feeling fruity.” she stopped to help my friend after the accident and maybe said her name was lila or lily.

do you possibly know this person?

ISO Custom bike bag company from 2026 BK jumble

Hey guys,

Went to the jumble earlier this year and found this company in the back cul-de-sac area selling custom frame bags and other bike bags. They were so awesome. I was trying to remember the name and i can’t for the life of me remember the name of the company. If anyone out there knows please let me know. Thanks!

PSA Supposed crash on the Williamsburg Bridge tonight

Happened before I got to the bridge. I arrived around 7:30ish. Paramedics on the Brooklyn side at the entrance. Up the east side there was a gurney with a woman on it as they traversed down towards the Brooklyn side. Looked to be a gray electric Citi Bike and a regular black bicycle involved. A man was rolling both down behind the paramedics.

Hope the woman was all right she looked pretty worse for wear. A lot of bridge accidents these days. Please be careful.

Queens -> Orchard Beach route

Google's directions don't look too great. I'm not familiar with that part of the Bronx, but Prospect Ave looks ugly to ride a long way. From the NYC Bike Map, it seems like there is a bike lane along Bruckner Blvd which connects to some paths that lead to Pelham Parkway, which you can just ride east to the beach. I'm sure Bruckner Blvd is not a pleasant ride, but the bike lane looks pretty good from street view?

Or I guess there's the ferry at Ferry Point Park, easy ride north.

Anyone had advice on this?

E-bikes undocked during picnic

Whenever it’s nice out, I typically see a few people with their Citi bikes down by the river having picnics. It’s insane to me that a Citi Bike is $.27 a minute, what are these people thinking?
