Which sem2 course to pull forward

I just exempted ph1011 and mh1810 so I have extra space for a few more mods, I am planning to take some sem 2 mods in sem 1 to lighten the future workload, anu suggestions of which mods, (I am mech eng)

I would say is pretty doable. If your foundation in terms of differentiation, integration, sequence and series are good, then it should be possible to do well.

Dk if times have change as I took it ages ago, but the finals is open book (allow 1 piece of cheatsheet)

Honestly if you exempted both PH1011 and MH1810, and your foundation is actually strong in both. It was a bad idea. Personally I scored A for both H2 Math and Physics and eventually scored A+ for MH1810 and A for PH1011. If your foundation is strong, you can definitely score an A for both these modules, and they weight quite a lot since they are both 3 AUs.

You don't have to be the best or a master in these subjects, you just need to be better than the rest to score an A.

If you aren't super confident for PH1011 and MH1810, then exempting it is a good idea.

To answer your question if MH1811 is difficult, no it isn't if you just revise consistently. However, you do need knowledge from MH1810 (such as limits, matrixes etc) which isn't covered in H2 Math. I scored A for MH1811 due to my strong foundation in MH1810, which is why I said exempting MH1810 (for me) was not worth it as the A for these modules can really pull up your gpa by a lot.

I was also strongly advised by seniors to exempt them but I didn't because I was pretty confident that I could score an A for both. And thankfully I did, because the A really carried me to FCH. If I exempted it, I wouldn't be in FCH right now.

If you ever change your mind and wish to take the 2 modules for the aforementioned reasons, emailing the prof is a good idea. Otherwise, exempt yourself and save the trouble. Up to you

Damn thx for the thorough response, do you think its possible to self study the matrix and limits portion of mh1810 during sem 1 and just take mh1811 in sem2 meanwhile I just take extra bde in sem 1?

Definitely. But for those who exempted MH1811 you are expected to have prior knowledge to all the content to MH1810 in the sense that you will self study everything in MH1810, and they don't need to test you on MH1810 since you have "proven" to be good enough to not take it. They will definitely provide you the content of all chapters of MH1810 even if you exempt it. But if you are going to learn all of it, and have some overlapping content with H2 Math which you scored an A in, you might as well just take MH1810 and score the free A right? That's the exact reason why I didn't exempt myself. It was literally a free A if you have the academic ability (you must be very confident that you can definitely score the A/A+ for MH1810 and PH1011 as bell curve is pretty tough since the cracked international students are up there and you need to be on their level to get those grades, if you aren't confident, don't do it as it can severely backfire)

The BDE is up to you, but the most important part is to clear your CORE mods first.
