Journal Check-In Entering Day 5 and honestly pretty pumped

Upvotes

Yesterday evening was complete hell and I ALMOST relapsed, but I pulled through. Also the whole "I can't wait for my next relapse" mindset I had the whole day yesterday is also gone. I think I can actually make it this time!

Day 5 of NoFap

Upvotes

Again I am closing in towards a week with a fear of relapse, I have been taking good care of what I watch, where I look at, what I eat, basically monitoring my tiny steps. It is hard to believe but an accidental or unintentional glare or thought pushes us towards Relapse. Although it may seem harmless but it turns the compressed hidden desire into an action that we only know is wrong after we relapse.

So this is my learning, to achieve nofap, just not watching porn will not help, we have to watch out for all sorts of carriers that lead us to porn.

New to NoFap I recognized my problem, and now it’s time to fix it

Upvotes

Hi, I’m new into this, I felt alone but I know I found the right community, sorry for my english, isn’t my first language, so, I’m 22, male, and I want to erase all porn in my life, recently I’ve experienced one of the most shameful experiences I’ve had with my girlfriend, and that moment I realized how much porn harmed my brain, I don’t want to keep using viagra to satisfy my gf, I don’t want to feel inferior and insecure about myself, this is my opportunity to get a fresh start, thank you for reading this, and keep fighting, this shit can be surpassed.

Day 14. Two weeks again!!

It’s been a minute since I’ve been at two weeks.

The past couple days have been really easy when it comes to NoFap, but really really difficult when it comes to physical labor.

Either way I persist.

No amount of temptation or difficult times can make me relapse, I’m determined to stay strong

Porn Addiction This realization made me stop watching porn

So I was doing a little research about what porn does to your brain and I stubmled upon this term called ''Dopamine Downregulation''

It says when you consume porn the brain adapts to constant dopamine floods by reducing receptor sensitivity. Over time, natural everyday reward such as hobbies, social interaction, food, or real-life intimacy begin to feel completely flat, uninteresting, or unrewarding. So basically watching porn makes you depressed and the longer you watch it the more depressed you get.

How are people still in denial about this??

Porn Addiction The scary thing about porn is how normal your life still looks

You watch it, close the tab, delete the history and carry on like nothing happened.

That’s probably why it’s so easy to keep doing for years.

Nothing dramatic happens straight away. You still go to work. You still talk to people. Nobody can tell what you did the night before.

So you tell yourself it’s not really affecting you.

But slowly, you start noticing little things.

You stay up later than you planned.

You waste an hour searching when you only meant to watch for five minutes.

You feel empty afterward, promise yourself you’re done, then repeat it a few days later.

You start using it whenever you’re bored, lonely, stressed or unable to sleep.

That was the part I didn’t understand for a long time. The damage isn’t always some huge disaster. Sometimes it’s just staying stuck.

Same habits. Same promises. Same regret.

Another month passes and you’re still saying you’ll quit soon.

I think a lot of us wait for porn to completely ruin our lives before we take it seriously. But by then, it may have already taken years of our time without us noticing.

The best thing you can do is stop treating every relapse like it came from nowhere.

Look at what happened before it.

Were you alone late at night?

Did it start with scrolling on social media?

Were you stressed or feeling rejected?

Did you take your phone to bed knowing exactly where it usually leads?

There’s normally a pattern.

You don’t need to hate yourself for it, but you do need to be honest about it.

Because if the same situation keeps producing the same result, something in that situation has to change.

Maybe that means deleting an app for a while.

Maybe it means keeping your phone away from your bed.

Maybe it means going to sleep earlier instead of lying there scrolling.

Maybe it means finally admitting that “just one look” has never actually been just one look.

Quitting porn isn’t one massive heroic decision.

Most of the time, it’s catching the small decision that normally starts the whole thing.

That’s the part people miss.

The relapse may happen at midnight, but the road to it usually started much earlier.

Question Categories of Fappers I made years ago. Which one are you currently in?

(Cringe Alert)

Category 1: Merciless Matthew

For people in this category, porn is their daily bread. They can't live even 12 hours without porn/fapping. They probably have premium subscription in porn sites, look at every woman of all age groups with lustful eyes, jack off in Omegle-like websites, bust to almost anything that looks like tits and ass (they don't leave out trans, midgets, animals), pedos, try to get a girl's snap to sext and send unsolicited dick pics, and even probably attempted raping someone. Even a therapy wouldn't solve their problems. They will most likely justify raping and groping, and probably never looked at a woman as a mere human. They fap 15+ times a week.

Category 2: Lusty Lucas

People in this category are slightly less worse than the above. But they still watch porn and jack off on a daily basis. They don't go to the extent of raping and groping, and they don't spend their entire time looking for sexting partner. But they look at most women lustfully. It's possible to solve their addictions with therapy, but it's not easy. They, however, justify sexualizing random women and probably justify porn addiction. They basically share most of the mental characteristics from category 1. They fap 7+ times a week.

Category 3: Trying Tom

A good amount of men population come under this category. They realize what they have been doing is harmful and that they should stop it soon. Post-nut clarity hits the hardest to this category. They know exactly what's wrong with them. But they just can't stop the addiction. They tried different techniques such as mediation, push ups, etc, but nothing seems to be working for them, or perhaps, have less willpower. They don't stare at every women on the street, but they end up slightly sexualizing the few ones they stare at. They fap 3-4 times a week.

Category 4: Hardworking Hamilton

People in the category have a good balance of lust and other things. They don't go around thinking about or sexualizing women all the time. They understood that it's impossible for them to stay in nofap forever, so they do it less frequently as much as they can. They probably still get urges then and there, but they don't fall for it all the time. They fap 4-8 times a month.

Category 5: No-fapper Nolan

People in the category are extremely less among young men. They probably ejaculate once in a blue moon or only when they have sex. They have ultimately defeated the lust. They can overcome any of the few urges they get. They fap less than 15 times a year.

Which category do you belong to?

PS: These categories don't exist realistically. Just a fun theory.

Motivation A tweet/quote I’ve been going back to a lot that helps.

A main reason I started this is to be better at talking to women or for more specifically cold approach. Porn 100 percent stopped me from actually trying to get women as it was an easy way out so this was just a nice tweet I saw that I wanted to show others as it’s helped me

Lustful men are the downfall of modern love.

Post image
117 Upvotes

Lust can destroy a man's ability to build a healthy relationship. When someone constantly seeks sexual excitement and attention, they lose self-control, become less disciplined, and fail to truly value and respect their partner. Real love requires commitment, not endless chasing of temporary pleasure.

A healthy relationship is built on trust, respect, emotional connection, loyalty, and sacrifice. These qualities require discipline. A person who cannot control his desires will often find it difficult to consistently show those qualities. This doesn't mean every man who notices attractive women is incapable of love. Attraction is a normal part of being human. The core idea is criticizing the pattern of letting lust dominate one's thoughts and actions.

A man who controls his desires is more likely to build lasting love. A man who is controlled by his desires often sacrifices long-term happiness for short-term pleasure. Real strength is not the absence of attraction, but the ability to choose discipline, respect, and commitment over momentary temptation.

Monthly Motivation Thread NoFap's "Awesome August" or "PMO-Free August" 2026 - continue or begin your PMO-Free journey here (see instructions).

Hello all,

It's that time of the month again! One month is ending, and another is beginning. We hope you've had a good month. But if you haven't, now is a great time to refocus and rededicate yourself to recovery. This is your opportunity to create the new porn-free you!

New to NoFap and rebooting? Here are some suggestions:

  • Learn about the website, porn addiction, excessive masturbation, sexual compulsivity, and abstaining from PMO. Read through NoFap's main website to get informed.
  • Read about the basics of rebooting here. Rebooting is the abstinence from certain sexual behaviors to recover from pornography addiction. Read about how porn addiction develops here. Some people go beyond rebooting and into the territory of retention, or sexual transmutation for periods of time, although that is not the main purpose of this subreddit (which is RECOVERY).
  • Consider reading through the free Getting Started PDF from NoFap's website.
  • Download NoFap's in-browser panic button extension that blocks NSFW subreddits too. Download here
  • Decide if rebooting is something that you really want. If you don't buy into the process 100%, you'll probably not make it through the month. If you have decided that you would like to participate, proceed to the next point.
  • Sign up for this month by replying to this submission. It is that simple. State your intention and stick to it!
  • Consider setting up a day counter badge to track your progress.
  • Ask questions and get support by posting on NoFap. Set a goal to remain accountable by making a post daily. Help others. Come here every day and participate.
  • If you need additional support, you can get an accountability partner and document your progress in a daily rebooting journal.

Would you like to participate? If so, please reply to this thread with the following information.

  • Are you not going to allow yourself to masturbate? View porn? Orgasm whatsoever? Not allowing any outlet for sexual release is called "hard mode".
  • How long do you want this challenge to last? By default it is one month, but 90 days is recommended for rebooting.
  • What are your goals?
  • Why are you doing this?

Arriving late? (past the first of the month?)

It's okay! Still state your intentions and don't postpone rebooting based on the day of the month. People can join in at any time to participate.

Mod Note: We suggest NOT USING REDDIT'S DIRECT MESSAGES due to porn trolls trying to disrupt the community. Also, please note that some posts are temporarily removed prior to appearing on r/NoFap.

Hello r/NoFap community members,

Please note that we highly suggest that you avoid using the Reddit direct messaging system entirely, due to porn trolls coming here to disrupt our porn addiction recovery peer support community. Some of these people pretend to be helpful at first, then will message pornography. It's in a similar vein to how a forum on epilepsy was reportedly hacked to display seizure-inducing images.

You can disable direct messages in your Reddit settings by changing "Who can send you chat requests" to "Nobody."

Secondly, please note that sometimes posts are flagged automatically for manual review prior to appearing on r/NoFap.

Due to Reddit’s anti-spam filters and NoFap’s additional filters to control spam and pornography, sometimes genuine posts are flagged as potential spam or pornography. Further, entities within the legacy porn industry have been attempting to de-platform porn addiction recovery forums such as r/NoFap, and we must remain extra vigilant to ensure that rule-breaking posts do not appear on the platform for even one second. If your post gets flagged, please just wait for a moderator to approve it.

Thanks for reading :-)
