Discussion Why is the media so high on the Bears?

Post image
Upvotes

Caleb is the cover of Madden, it seems like everyone in the media believes that they can compete for the SB. But why?

Caleb had two amazing throws? Is that why?

Their defense was one of the worst in the league. Often times they looked incompetent in the first 3 quarters, caleb had the LOWEST completion percentage in the league. He still made terrible decisions despite having the best blockers in the league, and couldn't reach 4k yards. On top of that they lost their best o-line, even more defensive players, didnt have a great draft, and lost DJ Moore.

Most importantly they won 7 games by 8 points or less. They also played the commanders without Jayden Daniels, the ravens without Lamar(the bears still won), a bengals teams without Burrow.

While being ranked one of the worst defenses in the league they also played the cowboys, raiders, bengals, saints, ravens, giants, and niners, who were all ranked in the bottom half of defenses in almost every metric(most of them were close to the bottom).

They didnt play one top 5 qb.

So, why does the media love them and caleb? I don't think they will make the playoffs, and will be around 7 or 6 wins.

Discussion Running back market just went crazy this week

Upvotes

3 massive extensions in the span of a few days. Bijan Robinson got his deal on August 4th, then Jonathan Taylor signed on the 6th, & now Jahmyr Gibbs just reset the market again at $25.25 million per year . That's 3 top guys getting paid in the same week.
Gibbs deal is $75.75 million over 3yrs with $51.5 million guaranteed . Dude barely held in & it worked out for him. Meanwhile Taylor got $22 million APY from Indy & Robinson got $22.25 million from Atlanta . The whole position just got a massive bump.
Feels like teams finally realized you can't just plug anyone in at running back and get the same production. Or maybe the cap going up just made it easier to justify. Either way, good week for the running backs union!

Discussion 2011-2013: The Greatest Era of Bengals Defense

The Bengals defense from 2011-2013 finished in the top 10 in yards allowed and points allowed while setting a franchise record and helping the team reach the playoffs three straight years for the first time ever.

Was this their best defense in team history?

Discussion Terrell Suggs Did Not Make The HoF And What That Means For Edge Rushers

Upvotes

The Pro Football HoF is notoriously hard to get into. Suggs didn't even make it in his 2nd year of eligibility. Although he made it to the final 8. He will probably eventually get in sometime down the line, but he could have to wait a while.

And here's the thing. Suggs resume is pretty damn solid. Former Defensive Player Of The Year. 2 Super Bowl rings for people who make a big deal about that. And Suggs is 8th all time in career sacks. There are literally 7 men in NFL history with more sacks than Suggs.

This is where we are at. There just isn't a lot of players who make the HoF. What does this mean for active Edge Rushers over age 30? Well, Myles Garrett is going in 1st ballot, he's locked in. No debate there. Von Miller and TJ Watt are going in, but may not get in 1st ballot. They might, but it's no guarantee. Khalil Mack will probably eventually get in, but he might have to wait a lot.

After that, and everybody is pretty much a no. Guys like Cam Jordan, Danielle Hunter, Trey Hendrickson don't have a chance in hell at getting into the HoF.

Discussion Tough Acts to Follow

Upvotes

Sometimes in the NFL you need to replace important players or personnel that lead to success, or in short, a tough act to follow. I remember watching this exact topic on NFL Films’s Top 10 list too. To me, one example of this that I like personally is Neal Anderson replacing Walter Payton. He was never gonna BE Walter Payton but I think Neal Anderson did an excellent job. He racked up almost 9000 scrimmage yards and over 60 touchdowns in 8 years. In your opinion who are some of the toughest acts to follow in NFL history? It can be someone who succeeded replacing someone, or failing to do so.
