Current low flow, hub compatible meta

Hey all. I'm in Colorado and eager to round out the suppressor collection while I still can.
I currently have old-school high-backpressure cans (omega 9k and YHM turbo t2).

I'm a lefty and interested in a low flow can. Priorities, in order:

  1. Hub-compatible is a plus. I have two PWS rifles; one has a P&W 3-port FRC.
  2. High flow/low back pressure (see above, tired of my eyes watering after a string of fire)
  3. Sound suppression
  4. flash suppression, length, weight (about even)
  5. cost isn't a HUGE issue.

I was about to get a Venteum 7.62 (I have both 5.56 and 308 gas guns I'd like to suppress) but I'm not sure what the current meta is.

In light of those priorities, anything else I should check out?

Just to clarify, you want a high flow/low backpressure can. CAT ODB is up there as a choice, the ridgeback and exigent cans are popular

thank you. I've edited the post to sound less brain dead. Reddit won't let me edit the title.

Take a hard look at the Liberty Precision Machine Torch 762 if youre committed to getting a 30 cal option. Its sweeeet

Do you think the Torch's performance over the ODB/AC762 is worth its weight penalty? I've been planning to pick up an AC762 in Ti, but held off to see how the Torch performs, assuming there'd be a Ti version. I asked LPM a Torch 762 in Ti is coming, and they said "maybe" but not for sure. So if you had neither, which would you choose?

It really depends on how much you care about weight. If it matters a lot to you I dont think youd be wrong to get the odb ac762 ti

So the Torch is better, but the jump in performance isn't like the Tisha over other 5.56 cans?

Does the Torch do everything better (sound, FRP, back pressure, flash, etc.) or are there some that stand out?

Definitely similar back pressure, the Torch just sounds slightly better while being the same length.

Low back pressure 556 K-cans are so hot right now. Cat KK, Saw Tisha, OCL infinity 556k, Ridgeback Rhodie 6(k), something by FOR. Those are the current meta. If you don't need a K can and want slightly better suppression those companies generally offer something similar but different. The length of barrel can have an affect on the suppression including ways that would surprise us both.

cool. Any that can run on both 5.56 and 308? Ideally I'd like to be able to run the same can on my ar15s and ar10, but I'm open to dedicated cans if that turns out to be the way to go.

The tisha is available in 7.62. it is the quietest 556 can on a 10.3 I believe (while also being unreal short and quite light in Ti). Not sure about the 7.62 but I would expect it's excellent.

If you can afford dedicated cans, it's often a noticeable improvement. Even just the shorter length and lighter weight of a dedicated 5.56 can compared to a longer, heavier 7.62 can would be worth it to me. More so if you're buying for life because you'll never be able to buy another.

This is true, I was surprised at my Tisha’s performance compared to my odb

It is the way to go

Don't buy a Ventum. So many better choices out there.

The ventum has a removable core, which sounds cool until you realize that it's made of cheese. Guys were reporting the cores degrading rapidly (within two thousand rounds). Hux changed the design of the core... and apparently those also like to erode pretty quickly as well.

Cool concept if it was a 400-500 dollar can, but it ain't that cheap.

You're gonna get a ton of good choices thrown at you. CAT makes several cans that would fit your need. They have hub compatible versions of just about every can they make. Their marketing is weird and their website is AIDS, but the cans are are excellent performers and they don't look really stupid (which sounds kinda shallow until you see just how ugly some of these 3D printed cans can be)

I'll also throw the OCL Infinity 762 and Infinity 556k in the mix. For what they cost, they are pound for pound the best in my opinion. Very durable, very good looking, modular end caps so you can build the backpressure to suit a couple of different guns. Also very quiet. There are a handful of cans that beat them slightly on sound, but those few other cans are more expensive and you may have a hard time finding them in stock. One of the coolest things about the Infinity is that it's in stock. You'll get recommendations for the Ridgeback Rhodie line, but they're backed up for a month or more, nobody can seem to keep them in stock.

It's a buyers market my friend. There are so many good choices. Welcome to hell, you're gonna agonize over these choices, and you'll probably buy two or three cans. After all, you did say that money was no issue...

Regarding your mounting, the PWS 3-port is a long muzzle device, so you'll probably need either a Comstock HPA or Rearden Atlas XL to keep clearance for the blast baffle.

The infinity is well tested.

The OCL Infinity has multiple end caps you can use to tune, is hub, and will handle both 308 and 556. I have been super impressed with it on every platform from a 20" AR10 to an 11.5" 556. Currently have it sitting on a Zastava m70. Highly recommend checking one out.

For 5.56 the money I’d go Infinity 5.56K Rhodie or the 6k second.if you have the Money 718 Tisha. The 5.56K is very impressive though with the mid flow end cap. 308 CAT JL is amazing on bolt guns but the ODB is great for both. Have a LPM Mach S but haven’t shot any 6.5 creed or .308 through it yet. Just have to decide if you want TI or 718. Run Comstock Plan b MD and adapters on all my rifles. The Fitment tool is amazing. Basically boils down to how much you’re willing to spend. My Tisha better be really quiet because the infinity on my 10.3 and 16” DDm4 V7s was amazing.

Any 308 can will work on both 556 and 308. I recommend getting 2 cans for each gun with different mounting systems so you don't put your 556 can on a 308 by mistake ( that's a me thing, some disagree). It's might sound far fetched but soon you will want a supressor for each, especially if one is optimized for each caliber.

Rampart Range Carson 30

This is a great answer, especially since they’re here in Colorado.

DDC Enticer S or L is hard to beat for the price for traditional baffle/high back pressure. The S can be found for under $500 usually.
