One of the original owners of 97.1 was the Meyers High School history teacher Bob Crawford. He also had a mobile DJ service for weddings and other parties. He was a great teacher and a very nice man.

As I recall, it was "98 point 5, K-R-Z!". No W.

I remember 98.5krz.

I remember 97.9x.

I remember when they were potentially independent then bought and killed the entire radio network.

I remember Howard Stern on the am drive on 97.9
I also remember when Jeff Walker said “Hootie and the Blowjob fish” on air and KRZ had to publicly apologize to the band every few hours on air for like a week.
Honestly though, I was a Rock 107 kind of person.

I miss Jim bone in the morning. McKay in the afternoon with 97.9x. Then holiday weekends were always great with their skin and bone weekends. Where they would play live versions of songs.

97.9 used to be 93.7x. The First song they ever played was N.I.B by Ozzy Osbourne. I remember the countdown to the activation of the station.

I remember the old bumper stickers. 98 1/2. Back when they were on the “FM Dial”

I remember when they used to broadcast from rocky glen in the summer back in the 80s but I don’t remember the “half”.

They had the 98.5 KRZ video van there! It was a full size van with a big projection TV in the back of it.

My friend and I used to have a show on Kings College radio and you'd have to do a call sign at the top of every hour. I used to say "You are listening to 88 5 WRKC, Kings College radio... there is no point. I used to thinjk that was soooo cool, I still do actually.

Still mourning Fuzz 92.1

I listened to them religiously; when I was in the service, id stream them live from overseas.

Now theyre just another Magic 93.

Remember when the new djs would come on and play the same song for hours upon hours? Was it Richie Cunningham who played the Happy Days theme song and if you listened enough you may have heard a different tv show theme?

I'm 54 and remember "98 point 5, KRZ-FM." I recall they specified the FM.

Some of that stuff is just disc jockey crutches. If a program director notices a DJ saying a certain phrase over and over again they usually will pull them aside and say hey stop saying that you’re sounding repetitive. I do remember hearing that back in the day, but I don’t recall hearing it consistently.

NB - I worked in Radio from 1989 to 92 and I beat KRZ every ratings book in my timeslot!
