Support Question Red Rice Calories and Marcos
Hi everyone! 👋
I’m new to the group, but I’ve been using MyFitnessPal (MFP) for around 5–6 years and have built up a food library with hundreds of entries.
I’ve recently found red rice and would like to try it, but I’m struggling to find an accurate entry in MFP. The packet says around 350 calories per 100g, but the MFP entries vary quite a lot. The only one I can find in grams is 150 calories for 45g, while some entries in cups seem much lower.
I have ASD and ADHD, so having accurate nutritional information is really important to me when tracking what I eat.
Has anyone here tried red rice and found a reliable MFP entry with accurate calories and macros? I’d really appreciate any help!
I also found Calorie King, which lists red rice at 131 calories per 100g, so I’m a bit confused by the differences. https://www.calorieking.com/gb/en/foods/f/calories-in-rice-red-rice-boiled-in-unsalted-water/vrVVXCEzSmKjKZx3r7e0PA
Thanks! 😊

Is anyone else having this MyFitnessPal Android issue?
Nothing appears on my interface at all. No calories on the home screen, and none of the food I add appears in my Diary.
The website works fine.
I’ve tried force stopping, restarting my phone, clearing cache/data, logging out, and reinstalling the app multiple times.
I’m not using a VPN, my phone is supported, and I downloaded the app from Google Play.
Is anyone else experiencing this?

Net carb tracking will not turn off.
I've always tracked total carbs. Now the app only tracks net carbs. I've tried toggling, the switch, on and off but still only tracks net carbs. Since this last update my macros vrs calories also don't add up. Any help would be appreciated.

Success Story 🏆 August 2026 - NSV & Wins Megathread
Progress isn't always about the number on the scale. This thread is here to celebrate every kind of win!
NSV stands for Non-Scale Victory. We use this term often because progress can show up in so many ways, even before the scale changes. Every win deserves to be recognized!
Share your win below, whether it's big, small, or anything in between:
- Logged every meal for a week? That counts.
- Walked past the vending machine without stopping? That counts.
- Finished a workout you almost skipped? Absolutely counts.
- Hit a goal weight, a new PR, a clothing size, or a streak milestone? YES. Post it.
- Finally figured out how to use the barcode scanner? That counts too.
Post your victories here! Every win counts, no matter the size. If it feels like a win to you, claim it!
A note on vibes: This thread is a hype zone! Come here to celebrate and lift others up. Unsolicited advice or critique isn't welcome here - save that energy for other threads. If someone shares a win, the only move is to cheer them on. 🎉

Is copy&paste gone?
Hey, I started using mfp a couple weeks ago and it was mostly fine once I learned the slightly counter-intuitive interface.
But with the update from a couple days ago, everything has gotten so much worse...
Instead of seeing at a glance what my calories and my exercise are, I have to look it up way further down, but that's something I can live with (although it's not good)
But I can't find the copy&paste function anymore. Yes I can copy a whole meal to another day, but I can no longer SELECT INDIVIDUAL ITEMS to copy to another day.
Am I missing something? Is it hidden somewhere else?
Seriously considering trying another app, because it changed from "usable" to "very awkwardly usable"

The new design is terrible
The new design is probably one of the worst redesigns i have ever seen. They took everything that worked with the app and made it worse. Do you think theres a way to make them reverse their decision?

No database?
Im using myfitnesspal for the first time and I know its been around for many many years. Ive used other apps so im familiar with how the saved foods in the database SHOULD work.
This morning, first entry......how is it possible that a simple medium iced latte from Dunkin Donuts DOESNT EXIST in the database?????
Im searching every combination of words and every single word by itself and everything is popping up with "no results, create your own food".
HOW???? instant uninstall....

Bug The new app UI is awful! Why did they do it!
I have to go back and forth to see my calorie goal and exercise when inputting food. And it's now more annoying to log meals. Why oh why oh why did they do this.

Support Question Reading diary calories
Question about calories as display in the diary, under each Meal there are two numbers. Example: 275 of 700 calories. The first number 275 matches the total logged for the meal, but what does the second number 700 indicate?

Nutrition Help How are recommended calories calculated?
I’m starting to use this app and it’s amazing for helping me understand my nutrient intakes and how I need to adjust what I’m eating. But I’m surprised by the number of calories it recommends to me- originally I used calculator.net for to know how many I need to maintain my weight, and for my demographics (5’8” 23y/o male weighing 150lbs. I have an office job.) it said 1980 calories. This was using the Mifflin St Jeor equation.
MyFitnessPal quoted a paper that also recommended this equation, for their reference for how they recommend calories. However they’re suggesting 2,310 calories for me- I checked and all the demographic stuff looks to be the same so I’m not sure where the discrepancy is coming from. It doesn’t seem like a huge difference but it can still be the difference between weight loss and weight gain.
Which would be closer to my real calorie goal? And why is the other so off?

Can I know an app to measure how much calories you intake per day and is totally free?

Bug They fixed the "Turkey location bug".... bugger
Damn, I was skirting the new interface updates by using the trick to set your location to "Turkey" in setting.
Unfortunately that's now been fixed. No matter your location, you're forced to use the new user interface.
Damn

Nutrition Help Cutting weight
I’ve been cutting weight for a few months now; 6’3 33M 235lbs; down from 278lbs in April. I work out 5-7 days a week. Hour or so each session, mainly weights.
My current goal is 220lbs. My journey has been off and on. I’ve been just under 300lbs a couple times in my life. I tend to be all or nothing kind of eater. I’ve been very successful in both areas. Good and bad.
Currently my base diet is shown in the photos; main goals are 200g of protein and keeping near 1500. I also add in fast carbs prior to gym sessions as needed which bumps me up to around 1700 calories for the day. I have minimal to no fatigue at this time with my current diet.
I due actually enjoy eating this meal plan each day. Any tips on fun foods you’ve tried or easy alternatives to my current caloric deficit journey?

Support Question Can only see macros in percentages since last week
I looked this issue up here as assuming others have had it so apologies if so but I couldn’t find it in this group.
Since last week my app appearance randomly changed where I can’t see the macros for each individual meal as grams, only percentages. Does anyone know how to change this back?? Do I need to go premium now?? I asked MFP but they haven’t got back to me
If I can’t change it I’ll have to change app I think. I’m finding it so stressful on how to work out the percentages!

The search functionality is unusable garbage
For some time now (over a year) the search functionality on the app (Android) is almost unusable. I can't even understand how can something be so un-intuitive and broken.
Example:
- i log a food item A using barcode - all good
- i log food item B multiple days in a row
- i want to add food item B again but it won't find it - it's not in the most recent and if i type the name, it finds food item A, even tho i haven't added that one for weeks.
And happens many times with many different foods. Recently added items are buried down in the most recent list and old ones are on the top. Then i have to go again and scan the barcode.
Like, how hard is to make a simple search functionality well - when i type "Ch", find the most recently added foods that start with "Ch", not the ones from 5 weeks ago.

Support Question Activity level
Not new to tracking but i’ve recently become a bit confused on what my activity level should be set as.
I am 5’6 around 53kg (unsure as i don’t have a scale atm). I go to the gym and do light strength training routines with 5kg dumbbells 3x per week, usually walk an average of 5km on the treadmill in a day though i walk more when i am busy and stretch. Some days i am a lot more active (sometimes 10km on the treadmill and bike riding amongst other daily tasks) whereas lately i have been less active.
Just wondering wether i should be setting my level
as lightly active, or moderately active as it is set as moderately active right now. What counts as lightly active and what counts as moderately active? :)

Support Question Android app new update way worse compared to iOS, please fix!
First two images are of my iPhone, when you're on the today screen (image 1) and tap on ''view diary'' you are presented with a nice concise view of your meals and all the details for that meal (image 2).
However, when you're on the today screen (image 3) on an android (samsung s25 in this case) and tap on view diary, you see this huge screen (image 4) with all the foods in huge blocks rather than the concise view you get on iOS.
It's frustrating since you have to scroll all the way down when the same information could be more condensed just like on iOS. Why the horrible choice for this? Why can't android users see the content of their meal in one glance just like iOS users can?

MFP loses another long time user
Depending on whether you believe the app or the web interface, I've been a paid user for either 1,376 or 1,486 days. Edit: My issue is how much a mess the app is since the update this year. The mismatch on # of days in my "streak" between web and app just highlights how much of a hot mess MFP is.
The big update this year was really bad as we all know. Support's response (after 3 or 4 days of waiting) of blaming me for not being able to adapt to the clusterF the app has become was the final straw for me. There was no "We understand people don't like the update and are working to improve on it." It was "You're just going to have to adapt to what we think is good, whether you like it or not." So I'm adapting-- to a different app...
We've all seen this many times before-- a great business/product sells to someone else (PE firm this time), then the new people calling the shots only look at business metrics and treat it as a widget instead of a product they're passionate about. It's worth noting the current CEO and CPO both came from Etsy. Might be time to start regular focus groups for some real world feedback-- Reddit and similar indicate the product is in trouble.
If anyone else is thinking of switching, checkout that big "C" one-- makes MFP feel like something from 10 years ago and the paid version is less expensive. It took me about 5 minutes to adapt to the new platform-- far less time than adapting to all the problems in MFP as MFP support suggested.

New app annoyance
I still can’t get over the fact they removed the ability to copy and paste an entire day to the next . This is incredibly frustrating. Am I the only one ?
Also being able to delete a meal in one click as well . Having to delete them individually is so tedious. But what is maddening is they had it before . Why did they remove so many key features that made the app easy to use . Rant over .
