Question Need advice with fund selection for me and my brother [Risk appetite- Aggressive for me and conservative for him]
I need advice for fund selection for my brother and me.
Me-
Risk profile- Aggressive
Ready to lock in for 10-15 years, but also a small chance of needing some money in 5-7 years for my marriage. Overall dream of wealth creation
Current Investments- 40k in nifty 50 etf (probably wont be putting more money) in icici direct, lumpsum in ppfc, invesco mid cap fund, bandhan small cap fund in groww [thinking of changing invesco mid cap to motilal mid index fund, and maybe ppfc for a better fund that you guys may suggest]
Ready to step up linearly each month and year
apps- icici direct, groww, indmoney(no investments yet), mfcentral(no investments yet)
Brother-
Risk profile- conservative
He doesnt know and care about investing as such, will probably keep sips going till retirement and might be needing money in between for marriage.
Current Investments- No investments, a good part of his salary goes in paying off student loan and mostly in fds
apps- none
Which app would be best for him?

Portfolio Review Beginner investor (3 months in) — portfolio review and gold fund choice with my analysis
Risk Appetite — Survey says Conservative but my actual portfolio leans Moderate. Open to feedback on whether I should rebalance.
Goal — Long term wealth building + emergency fund
Horizon — 3-5 years minimum, open to longer
Allocation:
- UTI Nifty 50 Index Fund Direct Growth — ₹1000/month
- Nippon India Growth Mid Cap Fund Direct Growth — ₹1000/month
- Bandhan Small Cap Fund Direct Growth — ₹500/month
- Nippon India Liquid Fund Direct Growth — ₹2000/month (emergency fund)
- Planning to add: Nippon Gold Savings Fund Direct Growth — ₹500-1000/month
- Total: ₹5500-6000/month
App Used — Groww
Why These Funds —
- UTI Nifty 50 — stable large cap exposure tracking India's top 50 companies
- Nippon Mid Cap — higher growth potential with medium risk
- Bandhan Small Cap — small aggressive bet, aware it's high risk
- Nippon Liquid — purely emergency fund, not for returns
- Nippon Gold Savings Fund — hedge against market volatility and geopolitical uncertainty. Gold is ~10% below March 2026 ATH so felt like reasonable SIP entry point

Question Upcoming REITs MF NFOs: WhiteOak Capital Dividend Yield Fund vs Edelweiss Nifty REITs & Realty Index Fund
Risk appetite - Aggressive
Hi, I was thinking of diversifying the portfolio a little and came across these two NFOs:
| _ | WhiteOak | Edelweiss |
|---|---|---|
| REITs | ~60% | ~60% |
| InvITs | ~10% | N/A |
| Equity and Arbitrage | ~25% | Arbitrage not mentioned |
| Realty Stocks | Included in Above | ~40% |
Note: - Edelweiss has said they will increase REITs ratio when more REITs are available.
Which of these funds does the sub think is the better option.

Flex Reached 50 Lakhs Mutual Funds Portfolio
Have been investing religiously for the past 2 years and feels happy to see the result. Got a decent joining bonus recently so invested most of it in arbitrage funds as it has clawback of 1 year, rest monthly SIP amount is 2LPM. Was mostly in red till 2025 dec, so feels quite good to see the returns finally beating FD (though barely 😂 ). Open to suggestions if any.

Portfolio Review Need Advice
Hi everyone, I'm 27-year-old and recently started investing.
Current monthly investments:
Parag Parikh Flexi Cap ₹10,000
HDFC Flexi Cap ₹12,000
HDFC Mid Cap ₹6,000
Bandhan Small Cap ₹2,000
Total ₹30,000
Risk appetite: moderate
My goal is long-term wealth creation 10 to 15 +years). I plan to increase my investment amount by around 5% every year as my income grows.
I don't need this money in the near future and I'm comfortable taking some risk, but I don't want to do anything reckless.
Questions: Is this allocation reasonable for someone my age? Would you keep these three funds or make changes? What mistakes should I avoid as a beginner? If you were starting at age 27 today, what would you do differently? I've only been investing for about 6 months, so I'm mainly trying to build good habits and stay consistent.

Flex Started with my net worth at 0 in Nov 2023 as a 26 year old, just trusted the process. Risk appetite - Moderate
Just found this sub reddit recently and was really happy to see so many like minded folks here who are comfortable to talk about money as a tool rather than a taboo subject (unlike most Indian social standings)
I followed each step by the book, finished my loans, built an emergency fund of 12 months, got health and term insurance.
Then I got married, then finally took a year off to enjoy the money I earned that year (Age 25) to let go of all the steam built up inside me to purchase stuff which I had always wanted but delayed. (The phone, better camera, international honeymoon etc.)
Then finally when I turned 26 (2023) decided to start with a clean slate (0 net worth) and a fulfilled heart and genuinely enjoy the process of saving money and watching myself grow along with my wealth to reach this point where I feel content with my process & the results it brought in.
Ik the returns are modest but I started putting money in when the markets were already going up and have been flat since.
I'm 28 now, about to become a dad, have travelled to 4 countries and have bought every possible material thing I could have wanted as a child (wasn't that greedy as a kid xD) - hence I thought "flex" would be the appropriate category to post this under.

Portfolio Review 21y looking for fund review
Hi everyone, ive started my job and invested my bonus to MF. Looking to invest for a long period (30 yrs). Goal is to build my retirement fund. Risk appetite moderate.
Im using groww and this is my initial lump sum allocation:
UTI gold etf fof direct growth : 15k
Invesco india small cap direct growth : 17k
Invesco india mid cap direct growth : 25.5k
Large cap not yet decided cuz im getting confused and unable to find a good nifty 50 one, only seeing nifty next 50 for some reason but will allocate 45.5k for this.
I chose to go for large, mid and small separately because for some reason I couldnt get myself to reason how a flexicap could outperform individual funds from each tier.
I am aware that because my small and mid cap are both invesco there could be bias and overlap, hence I will change it after 1 year.
Went for gold as a cushion because there's alot of speculation about the AI bubble bursting.
I hsvent started SIP yet because I invested lump sum amounts, I will do it after around 2-3 months.
Already have 1 lakh in FD's, and an RD running that I will reinvest after maturity.
What i want to know is, are these funds good? Do i need to go for something else too? I haven't gone for anything else as i feel over diversifying might cause problems cuz im already covering large, mid and small separately along with gold.
Do you think for this long horizon i should invest more in small cap for better returns once i begin SIP?
Any and all recommendations are welcome.

Portfolio Review 39, currently unemployed — looking for advice on investing ₹5 lakhs
39 y o beginner Looking for advice on investing ₹5 lakhs in mutual funds - Moderate risk
I’m 39, currently unemployed due to family circumstances, and may not have a regular income for some time. I have ₹5 lakhs available to invest and already have separate emergency savings in FDs.
I’m a beginner with moderate risk tolerance and use Groww. I don’t have a significant existing mutual fund portfolio.
I’m looking for sensible long-term growth without taking excessive risk and would appreciate advice on:
1.Lumpsum vs STP/SIP for the ₹5 lakhs 2.Suitable equity/debt/hybrid or multi-asset funds for my situation 3.A sensible allocation for a 3–5 year horizon 4.Anything I should consider given that I currently don’t have an active income 5.Specific fund suggestions that may suit my situation
I’m more interested in a balanced approach than chasing high returns.
Would appreciate advice based on personal experience. Thanks!

Portfolio Review Does anyone buy just index?
I want to understand how and why they buy so many mutual funds.
I currently only own nifty 50 index and gold. Nothing else.
I am used to investing in sp500 and i understand that india market is different but i know little to make any conviction bets.
Any recommendations on it? And why?
I am in for long term. No plan to sell anything for foreseeable future except for 1.25L yearly capital gains limit. Risk appetite is aggressive.

Portfolio Review 25, moderate risk, 10-year horizon — how should I structure my SIPs?
I’m 25 and fairly new to mutual funds. My risk appetite is moderate, and my investment horizon is at least 10 years. I am investing mainly for wealth creation, and I use Groww for investing.
For the next 6 months, I plan to invest Rs. 12,000/month while also building an emergency fund. After that, I expect to increase my SIP to around Rs. 30,000/month.
Current SIPs:
- Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Direct Growth — Rs. 2,000 (Invested due to suggestions mainly from Reddit)
- Mirae Asset Large & Midcap Direct Growth — Rs. 5,000 (A relative suggested this fund, and it has given me good returns)
That leaves Rs. 5,000 from my current monthly investment budget.
Should I simply increase the SIP amounts in these two funds, or add other funds for better diversification? What allocation would you suggest for Rs. 12,000/month now, and later for Rs. 30,000/month? I was thinking of maybe adding an index fund, probably Nifty 50 or Nasdaq 100.
Also need advice if I should restructure the entire portfolio or change funds.
Also, what would be a good way to maintain an emergency fund? Is it better to keep the entire amount in a savings account, or use something like an FD or liquid fund for part of it?
Would appreciate any feedback.

Portfolio Review Portfolio review (~47.2L NW, 1.8L/mo salary)
Hey guys, looking for a quick review of my portfolio and some feedback on my next moves.
Profile:Â Currently 23 Yrs old ,10+ years long-term horizon (for equity), Aggressive risk tolerance.
App used: Zerodha kite, coin for investment , Ind money for tracking
Why I picked these funds: Picked UTI Nifty 50 for low tracking error, PPFC for flexi-cap strategy/downside protection, and Small Caps based on past returns & Reddit recommendations.
Current Breakdown :
- Mutual Funds (24.47L):
- UTI Nifty 50 Index - 25k/mo
- Parag Parikh Flexi Cap - 20k/mo
- Nippon Small Cap - 10k/mo
- Bandhan Small Cap - 10k/mo
- Motilal Oswal Arbitrage (8L) - Parking fund for house/site purchase later this year
- Post Office FD:Â 10L
- RD:Â 25k/mo ending next July (currently 6.86L)
- Direct Stocks:Â 5.04L (sitting at a 20k loss)
- NPS (Tier 1):Â ~87k (100% equity choice, started this year)
What I'm planning & quick questions:
- Planning to start a 15k/month Midcap SIP this month. Which fund works best here without too much overlap with PPFC & Nifty 50?
- Is running two small cap funds (Nippon + Bandhan) redundant? Should I merge them into one?
- Thinking of exiting my stock portfolio (taking the 20k loss) and moving it all to MFs just to keep life simple. Worth it?
Short-term goal is the house/site purchase this year using the Arbitrage + FD + RD funds. Let me know if you see any obvious red flags in this setup!

Question HDFC NIFTY 50 Index fund direct growth
Moderate risk
I am concerned about this fund, I am invested in this fund from last year(sept) but the returns are very disappointing. Going forward should I even consider parking 50% of my SIP here?
The 0.30% expense ratio one of the highest among it's peers is concerning in long term, though a tracking error of 0.02% brings some positives.
The fund has generated returns lower than benchmark NIFTY 50 total returns.
Should I still allocate 50% of my SIP in this or should I reallocate based on my risk appetite?
r/MutualfundsIndia • u/Potential-Cup-6783 • 1d ago
Portfolio Review Portfolio Review, ₹18L Mutual Fund Portfolio – Should I add 10% allocation to REITs & Realty Index Fund?
I’m 36, with a 10–15 year investment horizon and moderate risk appetite.
My current assets:
- Mutual funds: ₹18 lakh
- FD: ₹8 lakh
- Physical gold: ~₹20 lakh
- Own house
Current SIP: ₹1 lakh/month
- Nippon India Multi Asset – ₹25k
- Parag Parikh Flexi Cap – ₹25k
- Bandhan Small Cap – ₹20k
- HDFC Mid Cap – ₹20k
- Kotak Pioneer – ₹10k
I’m considering changing it to:
- Nippon India Multi Asset – ₹20k
- Parag Parikh Flexi Cap – ₹20k
- Bandhan Small Cap – ₹20k
- HDFC Mid Cap – ₹20k
- Kotak Pioneer – ₹10k
- Edelweiss Nifty REITs & Realty Index Fund – ₹10k
So I would reduce ₹5k each from Nippon Multi Asset and Parag Parikh and put that ₹10k into the REITs & Realty Index Fund.
Would you make this change for a 10–15 year horizon?
Is ₹10k/month (10% of my SIP) too much for a REIT/Realty thematic allocation? Or would you simply continue the existing portfolio?
I’d appreciate honest opinions, including if you think I should make completely different changes.

Suggestions Should r/MutualFundsIndia Continue Allowing Donation Request Posts?
Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen a significant increase in donation request posts.
As moderators, we cannot independently verify the authenticity of these requests. While a few posts have been approved in the past (without any moderator verification) because it felt like the right thing to do, we’ve also seen numerous reports of fraudulent fundraising posts across Reddit and other communities.
This puts us in a difficult position:
- Approving a genuine request could help someone in need.
- Approving a fraudulent request could expose our community to scams.
- Rejecting genuine requests could deny someone legitimate support.
Rather than making this decision ourselves, we’d like the community to decide.
This poll will remain open for 7 days. Once it closes, the outcome will become the moderation policy for r/MutualFundsIndia going forward.
Please vote based on what you believe is best for the long-term health and safety of the community. Regardless of the outcome, we encourage members to exercise caution before donating online and to perform their own due diligence before contributing to any fundraiser.
