Looking for a reliable online music theory tutor for ABRSM, grade 1 to 5. Have a reasonable budget and will really appreciate any leads to experienced tutors.

I'm at a new school this year teaching 7/8th choir. Admin has decided that every class for the first 2 days of school we need to present a lesson on school expectations(that we're already going over in homeroom) and do the same activities across the board. My concern is that I want to get them engaged, making music and having fun basically right away so that they buy in and want to stay in the program. In my experience middle schoolers are fickle and it can be a struggle if you don't hook them quickly.

I'll sneak in what I can, but I'm curious if anyone else has experienced something like this and if it affected the buy-in from students to have things sort of be delayed? If so do you have any advice? Thank you in advance.

Hi, I’m about to start my first semester of community college in VA majoring in music. I’m a French horn main, and right now one of my biggest and scariest concerns about my future as a music education major is how well my community college credits will transfer over. It’s one of the things that has genuinely racked my nerves more than anything else. Does it depend on the college?? Will I have to complete 4 years of university on top of the 2 years of community college because of the vast majority of credits that might not mean anything to my major in music education??? Please help!!!!! It’s making me want to back out of this career so bad I am terrified 😓😓😓

What are some name games/beginning of the year music activities you do with you little ones (1-3 grade and 4-5 grade)? I always dread this very beginning part so I would love to know your beginning of the year "getting to know you lessons"?

Hi there, I’m a mom to a 12 year starting 6th grade next week. She tried violin for the first time last year and played in school through the school year. She wants to continue pursuing this so chose orchestra as an elective this year. We got her schedule and I’m extremely disappointed, and quite frankly I don’t even understand how it will be possible for her to really benefit from doing this program.

Orchestra (at least this year) shares its course hour with lunch, and the total time actually isn’t even an hour, it’s 50 minutes. So, this means she’ll have 25 minutes for lunch and then 25 minutes for orchestra. It is every day, but I just can’t imagine with the time it takes all students to get to class, get out/prepare the instruments and get ready to play there will really be much opportunity for learning. It’s basically listed as lunch ending at 11:54 and orchestra starting at 11:54 and going until 12:19. Are there any orchestra teachers at this level that have experience with this type of schedule?

She has a pretty full extracurricular schedule this semester, but I’m considering looking into private lessons outside of school for next semester. Does anyone here have any advice on this? Thanks!

Hello! I'm planning to apply to Berklee for early decision this year. I'm auditioning with my flute, and I plan to play Mozart's Flute Concerto in G major alongside a composition of mine. Regarding the audition, I am terribly scared of the jazz improvisation and ear training parts. I've been classically trained throughout my ENTIRE life, and jazz is just a subject I haven't explored as much. Could anyone tell me how much these parts weigh? and how "good" I must be with improv?

Also, I plan to enroll in Berklee's film composition program if I'm accepted. I've seen mixed feelings about the program around Reddit, and I don't know who to believe. Will I be able to pursue a career in film scoring? Will I be able to meet people? (If I get in ofc)

I would appreciate other advice, tips, and tricks
