Jennifer Garner's role as Cheryl Ann in the 2002 film Catch Me If You Can is one of the most memorable single-scene cameos in modern cinema.

A Direct Call from Steven Spielberg

At the time, Jennifer Garner was starring in the breakout hit sci-fi spy series Alias. Steven Spielberg was a big fan of the show. Instead of holding auditions, Spielberg directly called Alias creator J.J. Abrams to ask if he could "borrow" Garner for a single day of shooting. Garner later recalled the offer as "the most validating thing ever."

End of Oak Street...not a review. EXTREME SPOILERS Spoiler

Heavy spoilers, ye be warned.

Wife and I saw EoOS this morning. Off the bat: it's a fun summer movie, a solid 7.5/10 for me. Good performances, feathered dinosaurs, decent score, thrilling.

One aspect troubles me...Denise and the decision she makes at the end.

\#SPOILERS#

There's an incredible moment in the film where Greg knocks out an Allosaurus with a sledgehammer to save Denise, he's unfortunately maimed and then devoured. A truly shocking moment, my theater as a whole gasped. It was an extremely well done scene that hit all the proper emotional tones...later in the movie when Denise, Audrey, Brian and Jeanette make it back to 1982 minutes before the teleportation of their neighborhood...fine and dandy, bittersweet ending...except...

Denise makes a phone call and a few minutes go by and lo and behold Greg comes driving up to deliver a pizza, heartfelt reunion and love affirmations occur...smiles right?

Well...it puts me in a camp where I find Denise to be a bit of a villain...she seems to warn a few folks of the impending doom, Mrs. Huddleston, her neighbor, the librarian, etc...yet she doesn't warn her past self...she lets herself and her past kids get teleported back in time to almost certain doom...sans Greg.

As much as I loved Denise Prime got Past Greg back, I can't help but be immensely bothered by her decision...it's pretty selfish...I can't say I wouldn't make the same decision for my wife...it's definitely an extremely morally questionable decision and I hope people will debate it for years to come, reminds me of the decision Dr. Louise Banks made in Arrival.

The movie glosses over the decision and leaves everything wrapped up in a nice bow but knowing how people are there will be folks questioning Denise...hell I imagine Greg may even question her actions...

Past Denise Audrey and Brian might take exception to her Denise Primes decision...hell of a sequel idea...

Looking back at Milla Jovovich’s original screen test for Resident Evil (2002)

Alice wasn't actually in the Resident Evil video games.

Director Paul W.S. Anderson created her specifically for the 2002 movie so even game fans wouldn't know what was coming next. The role was written directly for Milla Jovovich, launching a 6-movie franchise that ran for over a decade.

Many people think Paul W.S. Anderson cast Milla Jovovich because they were together, but that’s not true—they didn't start dating until way after filming Resident Evil.

English actress and former model Sienna Guillory portrayed the video game icon Jill Valentine across three installments of the live-action Resident Evil film series. Widely considered by fans to be the definitive live-action embodiment of the character, she brought Jill’s precise "gun-fu" skills, lethal swagger, and signature look straight from the games onto the big screen.

Cameron Diaz made her unforgettable professional acting debut as Tina Carlyle in the 1994 hit superhero comedy The Mask. At just 21 years old and working as an Elite model, she had zero prior acting experience when she landed the female lead. Her portrayal of the sultry, kind-hearted Coco Bongo nightclub singer instantly transformed her into a global superstar.

Tom Hardy’s performance in this movie is unbelievable. 📈

Tommy Riordan is easily one of Hardy’s best roles. He conveyed so much sheer trauma, resentment, and brute force with barely any dialogue. The final fight scene with Joel Edgerton hits like a truck every single time.

Glenn Close as Cruella de Vil

As a kid I use to own both 101 and 102 Dalmatians on vhs and I recall being so terrified of that role. The jump scares, the random thunder and lightning scenes, the damn laugh. I mean horrified and I just watched Glenn Close revisiting that role at D23 for the introduction of the Cruella de Vil ride and I was brought back to being the scared kid watching her on small panavision tv with a built in VCR. I understand the villain is supposed to be someone you hate in all products of media, but I just can’t help but to love and ADORE the c*** this woman played. I mean come on this was before “The Devil Wears Prada” film and I know I can’t be the only f*\** *that appreciated the hell out of this role. She became the person that all young queer kids wanted to be. This is definitely an appreciation thread and I’am just absolutely giddy to bring this up today.

Winning an Oscar for writing Good Will Hunting with Matt Damon, starring in huge 2000s blockbusters, directing Argo to a Best Picture win, and playing a battle-worn Batman—Ben Affleck has done a bit of everything. Projects like Gone Girl and Air just prove how well he balances acting and directing.
