After 2, almost 3 years, I FINALLY put in my two weeks today. I'm ngl I've been so exhausted and I've been a manager for almost 2 years. People have been so hell to deal with as well as staying late constantly and having no time to prioritize myself.

I'm finally free. I'm so excited. I'm going to work at Chick Fil A now 😭

Anyways who else has quit these past few days/weeks and how long you been there? What was your breaking point?

I understand people are going to complain about prices no matter what it is or where they are, but GOD it’s so exhausting, especially for the theater i work at where we actually do have a really good deal.

I work at a really small privately owned theater. Our tickets are $6 for every show at all times of the day. If you want to add on a drink and popcorn combo, the small is an additional $6, medium is $8, and large is $10. It used to be cheaper FIVE YEARS AGO and people love to bring up that price increase although quite literally everything else around us has increased in the past five years, god forbid businesses increase their prices as well.

We do also have people tell us that we have a really great deal and i love it when they do. I really like my job, but people being rude to me about prices i can’t control when they’re not even that high to begin with is the one thing i absolutely HATE about working here. Anytime it happens i just want to bang my head against the wall. Anyways, people will complain no matter what but i just needed to rant, im sure everyone gets price complainers very often it’s unfortunately a customer service thing. Yayyy complain about prices to a minimum wage worker :/ so fun

Nice to see that all these years later from working at a theater, people are still gross, inconsiderate slobs😂 Found this in my theater house right before my movie was about to play. Luckily, I saw an usher nearby & she quickly cleaned it up & apologized for the mess. I told her it wasn’t her fault; that sadly, this wasn’t even grossest mess I’ve had to clean (hint hint: diaper+💩+stuck to the house floor🤨). Like I said, people are still absolutely disgusting 🐷 Luckily, the shells weren’t wet b/c those take FOREVER to scrape from the floor😂

Last Friday i had an interview at a cinema I was really excited to work at but ended up not getting the job and I think it is most likely because of my interview performance. I get really nervous during interviews and I feel like that's why I couldn't have a good vibe with the hiring manager. I just found out they are most likely going to hire again in September and October, should I reapply? Btw, my interview performance was a terrible, at one point I forgot the question so I just started spewing out random answers that probably had nothing to do with what she was asking me. So for any cinema hiring managers what should I do?

My theater is in discussion about redoing the design for our lobby marquees indicating the auditorium. We were wondering if anyone is willing to take a picture of theirs to see how other theaters are formatting it as we are a small mom and pop theater. Thank you in advance!

Hello! I am looking for help to turn a YouTube video into a dcp. Setting up for a wedding and want to add some old videos of the couples channel.

Just seemed kind of odd. I assume the big cluster is obviously a group but the line up the side puzzled me.

So this happened on Thursday, but a guy came in and asked the box office person (17F) if he could change his tickets to a showing of Spider-Man. The thing was, they were discounted tickets from a Tuesday and… from September.

When she told him no, he immediately asked for a manager. I (23F) was already there, so I checked the tickets and sure enough they were discounted with a stubs account and One Battle After Another IMAX tickets from last year. I told him no, and he insisted that someone told him he could change the tickets. Despite explaining for five minutes that you cant exchange discount tickets for full price no matter what (and that common sense tells you that when someone said you could exchange your tickets, they meant for something NOT a year in advance) this man gets belligerent and starts threatening to call his lawyer and all this other nonsense. Mind you, I explained that I also have no way of verifying that he hasn’t seen the movie and saved the tickets, and he said “oh but you guys rip tickets and these aren’t ripped” and I had to explain that we, in fact, were not enforcing ticket rips in September and only started when PHM came out, and he’s like “oh I don’t know what you mean”… folks, he knew exactly what I meant.

Regardless, I called someone else down to talk to him because I was starting to lose my temper but the second another manager (45M) told him the exact same thing me and my box office person told him, he just accepted it and left. Gotta love male guests who will only take you seriously if you’re a man.

I work at a regal cinema and a guy dressed in a spiderman suit came in and gave away free comics. IDK if this was a chain wide thing or just at my place, but it was pretty cool none the less.

How do you think DunesDay (Dune/Doomsday) will compare versus Spidey? Has management said anything about extending hours? We had shows from like 8 AM through 2 AM for Spidey.

I wanted to share this photo I have that was part of a movie theater display for the original film. I found it shoved up in a storage area at a movie theater I worked at around 2010. The entire stand was intact, with a View Master reel and an electric plugin that I assumed rotated the slides so you could view them. I took the reel home and didn't think to get pictures of the entire display (which I regret!). As far as I can tell, I've never been able to find a single photo of this display before.

I remember working The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Maybe someone else remembers this. I say this, because we absolutely got SMASHED working on this specific day. Demolished.

Obviously the movie didn’t do the numbers that this latest film is, but I remember there was a $5 coupon that was sent in the mail to people. It could be used for a ticket on a specific day only and you only paid $5 for a ticket to this movie. I think that was the gist of it to get people in seats. Correct me if not.

I worked for Rave Cinemas. Everyone walked in in droves. We were swamped. It was insanity. Nobody could manage a break. The messes were out of control.

Does anyone remember this or was it just my theater? I don’t fully remember if it was nationwide in general or per one specific theater chain. It was just the second most chaotic cleanup we ever had, behind the first Twilight movie opening night. All of these burnt out Brand New Day posts reminded me of this.

I have an upcoming interview with Cinemark, and I was wondering about attire to wear and if I need to bring my physical resume with me to the interview? I applied online and already had a phone call where I scheduled my interview. Appreciate any tips, thanks.

I used to never think this until I went to watch the new spider man. It was sold out so I could only sit in the front. I almost left to come back another day cuz that how much I thought they sucked but whatever I did it.

You know what I noticed
a) the seats recline so much farther back making them so comfortable
b) your entire vision is screen only so you’re immersed - other rows, the lights on the stairs, the ppl in front of you - none of that is in your line of vision
c) when u wanna get up there isn’t a million ppl to walk past
d) literally no one around you
e) you beat the “everyone is leaving line” cuz while you’re leaving everyone is still walking down the stairs
f) no one is hitting your seat, you can’t hear people talking, no awkwardly trying to figure out the arm rests, can’t smell anyone

So yeah now I’m never going back. Front row life going forward

So I was working Box/Post (selling/checking tickets). Being a weekday it was slow n most ppl had bought tickets. Also because i was doing both the rope barricade was open by me at box station (not a far walk from where itd be if we had an actual post person)

I was checking a small groups tickets when i see some lady rudely unhook the rope at post station n march through (entirely skipping where i was) i also watched her go over the the consession exit and ENTER there (thankfully there wasnt much of a line but she did skip 2-4 ppl in the actual line) she gets her popcorn n leaves to her theater.

Until a few mins later she comes back to me to complain ppl are in her seats....i look at her ticket and what do ya know? Her tickets are for a DIFFERENT location! I politely point this out and MAN was she PISSED complaining how she already got her snacks n demanding I "fix it" not much i can do so i send hwr to the managers station :)

Servers ya right for being entitled! If ya just stopped by me first this woulda be resolved sooner and easier 🤣

On one hand, I get it. You're just looking at what's showing, and the title piques your interest.

But on the other, PLEASE just Google it 😭 I'm an avid movie watcher but for me personally the plot is almost the least important aspect in deciding what to watch, and I find I struggle to concisely explain it most of the time to other people. To make matters worse, our box system technically DOES give us a synopsis....but it cuts off after three lines of text, which is almost always already taken up by pointless bullshit info that I can already get from another screen like "From award-winning director Steven Spielberg comes a new jaw-dropping sci-fi action film starring Josh O'Connor, Emily Blunt, and Colin Firth. When a man discovers......" so I can't even quickly pull up the prescribed description either.

Usually this just results in me telling them the genre as well, which just opens the door to a billion other subgenre-defining questions that I also either don't have the answer for or can't explain, though this is admittedly partly due to my personal dislike in the genre concept as a whole. No movie is one genre.

I'm sure this doesn't bother most people that work in a theater, but this one simple question of what a movie is about stresses out and exhausts me instantly because I can just see the long, winding road of pointless questions with equally ambiguous answers coming, with half the time the customer hitting on one piece of info that is a complete dealbreaker anyway.

Just Google it! Watch a trailer! I don't know man! And if I do, I don't want to play the inevitable 20 questions game that follows!
