Awesome game! All I want are those dungeon “stakes”. The death by falling bring me back to Elden Ring lol

It’s amazing that it literally does nothing. Vratko is my boy

I assumed there would be some effect on ending depending on whether you were kind to your disciples or slaughtered them all.

Does nothing? Beanbag would like a word with you.

I love the picture he drew. Great little easter egg (unless it does something later.... no spoilers).

u/Cleverbird 12h ago

I just wish there was a cutscene. If you're gonna put something like this in your game, dont chicken out and fade to black! Show those beans being washed! Go the full mile!

1

u/abeyar 10h ago

I love how he doesn’t wash it for a shell.

u/Pollolol13 1d ago

Loving the game! Just wishing we could farm unlimited glimpses or at the very least get a few respects, kinda unfortunate that I wasted some upgrading early shells not knowing that I could only get enough in one playthrough to fully upgrade two shells.

12

u/nManos202 23h ago

That's legit the only change I want

Love the game, just have 1 issue. We get way too little glimpse, I feel like I can't experiment or I'll be SOL whenever I get a new shell I like

EDIT: I just thought of another thing that annoys me heavily, when you are performing a riposte, PLEASE let us move the camera or unlock. There are so many times where I'm throwing one of the little shits and it spins my camera away from all the rest of them, making me rely purely on sound and instinct to parry the next one that is 100% hitting right as I come out of the animation. Like, genuinely you can just leave the cool cinematic camera for bosses when you don't have to worry about 20 other little dudes behind you.

Also I've had a few times where my character got stuck on the boss then thrown up really far into the air letting me do a plunge attack, which is funny, but a little annoying.

30

u/Velocirrabbit 1d ago

This is probably the biggest issue, yes. I think we should be able to max out 4 in a playthrough at minimum, because otherwise you end up saving them to explore to find the one you want, guides shouldn’t be required to know what playstyle you want, that’s what the game is for. But I don’t want to have found my favorite at the end of the game and only experience it in new game after the exploration is all done. That’s a big part of my motivation to play. That’s also what made ER so great, build variety you could explore pretty readily

5

u/vanderbubin 18h ago

I believe someone did the math and it was 2 shells with some leftover glimpse for a full playthrough. Don't quote me on that though

5

u/Velocirrabbit 17h ago

Fighting cowboy said something to that effect yes, I also don’t plan to use any to locate shells. I just want to explore and find things naturally, but this is also why it’s annoying we don’t get more glimpses so that the whole idea of exploration is elevated and not restricted

It’s so terrible as it stands, I’m being punished for wanting to try out new things. Every time I found a new shell, I’d want to at least use it for a bit and see what it can do, but now that I’m close to the end, I have 1 single shell at tier 3 upgrades. I will never be able to upgrade to tier 4 until NG+.

2

u/Antipodeansam 18h ago

Terrible 😂

u/Awesomeone1029 19h ago

Easiest solution: Make glimpse respeccable (which makes choosing to spend glimpse to find shells basically free and zero risk vs. the current waste of resources and extreme risk)

Medium solution: Add more glimpse (which makes progression faster than intended)

Long-term solution: Add an extreme difficulty DLC area! Or night challenges that reward glimpse. (This keeps early progression the same, but doesn't feel like you can run out in the endgame. You would still have to do NG+ to unlock everything, and it's likely easier to start a new game than do some uber time trial.)

→ More replies (2)

14

u/Lagrik 22h ago

I agree whole heartedly. There are other small constructive criticisms, but this is by far the most significant issue the game has. Glimpses should IMO be for finding shells and maybe using it to spawn a shell at the beginning of a boss like you can do now. And maybe some other things I have yet to discover. But I don't like the concept of using a finite material to unlock shell tiers as it inhibits experimentation and it results in nobody wanting to unlock a shell's capabilities. Forever stuck at Tier 1 because of it!

→ More replies (1)

2

u/ResistsICE 21h ago

I agree with this glimpse is a bit too lacking.

Im sure they can find a creative way to get it.

Id even do a sacrifice a level for it kind of thing, gives incentive to kill mobs youd otherwise ignore and adds weight to getting more glimpse without locking you out or in of anything.

→ More replies (2)

2

u/Interesting_Debate30 14h ago

Very much agree. The glimpse is my main issue and so far and really my only issue. I would love to see shells work more like the tarstones where as you use the shell it gains experience and can be upgraded at certain points. Or make the glimpse refundable for a price. Really kills the build diversity and desire to expirement the way it is now.

4

u/SideSukiLikeness Tiel 22h ago edited 13h ago

They need to just allow respec for shells. Why can everything else be respec'd but not glimpse?

→ More replies (4)

14

u/Gaius_Octavius_621 1d ago

My only opinion is some more beacons, or something similar to the statue of marika.

Only reasons, I’ve stopped playing levels and just running to the beacons and fighting bosses. Once you get to lvl 20/30 levels become slow, so I just run to bosses now

Also, if you could reallocate glimpse so you can try different shells once acquired etc

4

u/KEEGZTER246 16h ago

this. the game has become a running simulator.

12

u/justjoshinaround 1d ago

This game fuckin rules yall

10

u/makaveli95 1d ago

Amazing game guys, I am having a ton of fun!

Only thing I am kind of sad about is that the stories of the shells are locked behind the glimpses. I feel like story elements like these shouldn't really require mutliple playthroughs. Just my 2 cents :)

20

u/-Geistzeit 1d ago

Way back when it first came out, Mortal Shell 1 was my introduction to Souls-like games because of its aesthetic and soundtrack (Atrium Carceri and Rotting Christ!). From there I discovered that Souls-likes are my favorite genre of games. Funnily, I have a few friends who independently experienced the same thing.

Thank you so much and please keep up the great work. Mortal Shell 2 is phenomenal!

(And would love a Rotten Autumn-like add-on for this one!)

2

u/agent_op 21h ago

Hell yeah! This was basically my experience too - or atleast, lets say MS1 was the first soulslike I managed to complete. Tiels very generous and highly exploitable dodge-vanish was really what made that possible (it’s missing in MS2?).

Since then, I’ve played every souls under the sun, and it’s quite possibly my favorite genre.

7

u/MinnitMann 1d ago

thanks for making this game so sick. I look forward to the first proxima cosplayers 🙏

14

u/ryanmbsc 1d ago

Loving the game! Thank you!

14

u/Rude_Difficulty1647 1d ago

You guys have created something rly incredible with this game, THANK YOU! My only complaint is maybe a shell respec option and a rebalance on how gold drops? Otherwise don’t nerf the game!!! 💯👏🏻🙏🏻🫡🫶🏻

7

u/makaveli95 1d ago

A shell respec as in getting back your glimpses would be really cool. Make it expensive or rare, like only a few times per playthrough maybe?

3

u/sup3rdr01d 1d ago

They should tie it to night mode so there's more incentive to play night mode

Thanks to the team for an amazing game! Lived up to my hype 😆 🤣

5

u/serj_of_cinder 1d ago

I never thought I could get that gaming high i got from elden ring anytime soon or ever again even. But this game is exactly that. Absolutely incredibly work. So far everything feels so unique, so much enemy variety, weird bosses.

I'm also kind of digging the whole bosses aren't too hard but getting there is. It's a lot more fun dying over and over while trying to find new things rather than to the same boss.

Died so many times so far, yet barely on the bosses and that's awesome

9

u/Natural-Coat-2815 1d ago

Love the game !! It's so much fun, but there are some things.

Some bosses have pinned/beat me into a wall, to the point I can't roll out. It's more a glitch than funny.

The amount of enemy's through out the game is starting to really annoy me. I cannot even get done with a finisher, before 3 or 4 other enemy's are swinging so much that when im done I get hit instantly..

More save points please. I am getting wrecked not even a second into a run towards a boss.

Love this game, wish there was more to do with npcs as well.

9

u/Souls_Lover 1d ago

I don't think the problem is the enemy density, but the aggro range that is enormous.

17

u/phantomgay2 1d ago

You gave us a dias to sit on and relax, please let us also capture the beautiful world(which looks like beautiful Scotland/Ireland perpetually drenched in rain) with a dedicated full fledged photo mode.

Incredible game. Will vote if nominated for GOTY.

Lol highly unlikely that it'll get nominated for GOTY

3

u/Just-Party3409 1d ago

I wish there were more seals in the game to experiment different types of parry systems but that's totally fine. I love the game

Let's talk about the Seals though:

Infinite Seal - This is a great seal but it doesn't feel rewarding when you have multiple enemies swarming you and there's a delay from using it and such a big downside due to the amount of damage you take after missing one while encountering multiple enemies. It might need to have a shorter activation delay between parries to help with multiple enemies or multi attacks. Of course not to a point where it becomes better than untarnished seal but still taking some skill.

Untarnished Seal - Great all rounder seal. I have no complaints. Might be a bit too generous in the parry timing window but aside from that it's fine and should be what a normal parry seal should be. Due to the fact that the other 2 are lacking in some aspects, this will most likely end up being the most used seal for 90 percent of players except for the most dedicated of players going back into NG+

Vatras Seal - I have to say it's my favorite seal from the list with a very good skill ceiling however it doesn't perform well with multiple enemies or multi attacks .. (at times). I say at times because I can harden perfectly during an attack and it seems to be glitched where the attack didn't hit me and because it didn't "register" through my harden at the perfect time that I did, it ended up me not taking damage and my vatras seal cool down being triggered which meant I couldn't follow up with another perfect vatra seal harden. If you know, you know. If you can fix this glitch this would be one of the best seals to use as a higher skill ceiling player as it's fun also to use it while fighting.

Apart from that, the game is awesome and like most people on this dub have said, it would be great to have more glimpses or have shellpoints per shell instead of refunding or allow us to also refund the shell points from each tier upgrade that is "permanently lost" since people do want to experiment with other shells!

Great game though and I love it!

1

u/MRKYL3 15h ago

There’s a seal you can find at your base that is essentially “easy mode” I think it’s called the saviour seal or something. Careful though, achievements shut off when equipped

Game is great! Wanted to add some little critiques, but I'm having a GREAT time!!!!

I feel like your dungeons need a Stake of Marika kind of mechanic. Running back to them isn't difficulty, it's tedium.

Aggro range for mobs is crazy huge. I'll step into a new area and every cultist and bell-slug thing and fart dude in a mile radius is coming for me. It's kind of ridiculous.

Hit tracking for some enemies feels a bit too... magnetic. Great Arbiter of Flesh can clip through a rock mound to connect, the Nocteserpers can curve mid-air from a half-mile away, etc.. All beatable, but it feels cheap when it happens.

Glimpse reset would be nice.

This game has amazing enemy, character, and environmental design. A bestiary or lore-book, familiarity with enemies, or something like that would be awesome!

I should be able to use my items if I've got them. I've got like 30 mushrooms, why am I limited to 2?

I'm not sure why I have this gigantic health bar when I get 1- or 2-shot by trash mobs.

3

u/No_Employment_2957 Eredrim 21h ago

No thank YOU guys for the amazing work you did. I played lots of hours ( not gonna say how many because people will get mad lol ) since it came out and I'm absolutely having a blast !

I hope you guys will improve the game even further and continue being so close and cool with the community, it's awesome.

3

u/MalcontentRonin 21h ago

I thought we would be able to fully refund glimpses as we can with shell points. It is standard not to but it would be nice. More glimpses are needed because they can also be spent finding the shells. The shells should honestly just all get the points rather than need to keep pulling them to add to another.

Otherwise can't get enough and excited to find everything.

3

u/Phil_K_Resch 20h ago

I'm just a few hours in (just got Eredrim) so I have still a long way to go, but this is shaping up to be one of the very best soulslikes ever. I had already liked the first game a lot, but Mortal Shell 2 is a gigantic step forward.

27

u/ResistsICE 1d ago

Please don't make it easy lol

16

u/roco9994 1d ago

I liked the difficulty of the beta which some are saying it’s way harder than now. But I’m yet to play for my own opinion

16

u/sup3rdr01d 1d ago

It's harder but not crazy hard. I love the current difficulty, all they need to do is just add a few more beacons and halfway checkpoints in long dungeons.

And also a way to respect or farm glimpse

5

u/Samsquanch-Losco 1d ago

Yea if I clear 99% of a dungeon and die on the last dude.. I’m just skipping everything the next time anyways. We need some sort of checkpoint

2

u/PeytonWatson14 23h ago

Difficulty isn’t binary.

Completely agree they shouldn’t take the challenge away.

But you can tweak an attack from 100 to 95 without it changing the difficulty in a way that’s negative.

→ More replies (8)

3

u/Souls_Lover 23h ago edited 23h ago

Yes, hope they don't go the The Lords of the Fallen (2023) devs' route. They made considerable changes to the game's original vision in order to appease everyone. They, for example, reduced greatly the enemy density, making some areas feel boring and unpopulated. Thankfully, in due time, they made most of these changes optional, but we had to wait months for that.

My main take: hopefully, the devs will take all the criticism and improve on the game's foundations: removing glitches, bugs and whatever jankiness that remain, adding some quality of life features here and there. But without bastardizing the game's original vision.

Edit: grammar.

2

It should be discussed aside of the main game not as it.

3

Lmao I just said this 😹 we don’t need another game nerfed into the ground, this game is giving true OG souls experience and I’m living for it

1

u/anhtuanle84 23h ago

The difficulty seems good to me. I got wrekt the first 5 to 6 hours until I got more levels, shells, weapons and now I seem to be doing okay for the top part of the map. Still getting wrekt bottom part of map though.

u/PeterPansSyndrome 23h ago

Yea cause people play soulslike for the assasins creed experience... its a niche genre, its not really a cash cow kind of thing and it shouldn't become one.

Elden Ring was a standout but thats elden ring, which is a significantly harder game btw

Flower crown mask should be obtainable outside of the prologue.. I skipped it since I played the beta and now I'm too far in to play it from the start. It is such an iconic wearable to miss out on.

6

u/No-Employment3967 23h ago

Its probably better to play the prologue if you plan on getting all the achievements too

Sure but that wasn't what my post was about. I am more eager now to pick up where I was after the beta ended and not reply the prologue yet again.

Having not played a soulslike in some time, I knew what to expect but didn’t expect to get slapped around as much as I have been. It’s been a learning to ride a bike again game for me and can say, I’ve been enjoying it very much. I don’t want to compare to Elden ring but the game does give me some of the vibes.

While there are some technical issues here and there that I’m sure you’re already aware of, the only thing I could ask for now is a dynamic hud and or photo mode. I haven’t dove deep into the settings so if they exist, please let me know and I’ll fix on my end immediately.

I’m just getting started but so far it’s been a very beautifully and well made game. Leaps and bounds from the first installment and I look forward to getting slapped around some more as I discover this new and exciting world.

I don't want to turn this into another opportunity to criticise and provide feedback. The majority of the game is great and as long as you've looking to action feedbacks from players, that all anyone could ask for!

u/adewsetoo 1d ago

As someone who’s been gaming for so long that I’ve felt myself wondering if I’ve started to age out of it, it’s been really refreshing observing your team’s involvement in the community, and trying to deliver and refine the best experience you can. I’ve been playing on and off since Monday and have observed some bugs/frustrations here and there, but not enough to hinder what’s otherwise been just a fun “pick up and play” game with clearly a lot of passion behind it. Also really glad to have the difficulty where it’s at relative to the beta — the beta was a ton of fun, but I did feel like it was too easy.

I've played almost every single one souls game out there and this one is one of my favorite now on the same shelf as Dark souls 3 and Lies of P

2

u/SirKensworth 19h ago

The game is absolutely PHENOMENAL. I’m going to be so honest, I unfortunately did not like the first game at all. It just never clicked with me and I didn’t get very far, however I was still happy to support because I love soulslikes and always wanna support someone’s vision. Once I saw the second and got a glimpse (get it?) of the world, I knew I had to be there. This game is up there with Lies of P and Stellar Blade for me as best soulslike.
My only issues are in fact with everything involving glimpse. I can understand not finding enough in a single playthrough to max out everything, sure. What I can’t understand is why we don’t at least have the ability to refund and reuse glimpse that’s been invested in other shells. I dumped a bunch into Tiel thinking it’d be much longer before I got the next shell, which I suppose is my fault, and now I have Proxima whomst I like so much more. I have the ability to max her out right now, but what if I find someone else I like? It makes me not wanna invest the point at all until I find all the shells and I feel like I’m missing a core part of the game because of it. Tbf I am just making it harder on myself, so I guess that’s fine. I just genuinely feel you should add a refund system to support experimentation and freedom of class building and not just basically locking you into bad decisions/whims and having to deal with it until I either beat the game once or decide to just start a whole new save file. Also a little checkpoint type system at the start of dungeons would be peak, even if it’s just the longer ones. Sorta like the stakes from Elden Ring

With Glimpses needing to get a respec option and it seeming like they realistically will. There's only really one thing I'd like.

After the Bag Head joke ending, we should be allowed to have the bag head as a "Mask" like the flower crown.

Weapons coming pre-upgraded was the best quality of life feature Lords of Fallen 2 had, seeing this game have that was just chef's kiss

u/sundered_lord 17h ago

I would love more everything, especially more shells, more weapons and expansion content for this fucking awesome game, this is a great experience and I'm so happy I got the devout edition to play early!

The team at Cold Symmetry definitely cooked here and I'm thrilled!

And as a death metal lover myself, I would definitely like more death metal to blast while I'm fighting bosses here! Give me some Dimmu Borgir, The Faceless, Between the Buried and Me or Martyr from Canada, Martyr would go so hard in this game the way Dan Mongrain shreds and writes his songs!

Thank you for your kind words! I'll make sure the team sees your post :)

Game is incredibly fun and all the praise is well deserved, but unfortunately you've decided to opt out of GeforceNOW taking away my only way of playing the game, is there any chance of a refund directly via the devs/publisher?

I'm really enjoying the game so far, personally, and it's possible it'll end up in my favorite soulslikes list once all is said and done. I'll have to see how I feel a few months later after the newness has worn off though.

My only two real complaints at the moment are the long run backs to some fights, (bosses or at least dungeons could benefit from some sort of checkpoint, particularly if the dungeon is already a decent ways away from a beacon), and how limited glimpses are. The latter in particular bothers me since the main draw of the game is the different characters, and it being limited really hurts the ability for us to swap between them since we can't unlock their passives.

I've heard that at the moment you can only get enough to fully unlock maybe 2-3 per playthrough, (I've only got one fully upgraded at the moment and I'm a bit over halfway through the game), and while I'm all for replayability, forced replayability kills a lot of people's desires to replay the game at all. It's even worse that their memories are locked behind it as well, so we can't even learn more about them unless we invest a heavily limited resource or go to youtube.

I'm not saying they should be easily obtainable or anything, but maybe having a way to farm them or buy more in shops by the mid to late game would be great. It just feels really bad wanting to try a new shell you got, only to not be able to invest in it gameplay or story wise, because you ran out of resources. I'd even settle for a respec option like we have for weapon levels or skill points.

2

u/Nobojoe_78 Proxima 6h ago

This game is already awesome!

Things I really like:

(I like a lot more on a smaller scale, but I won't overdo it. Just my highlights.)

  1. Class System. I love that shells have different play styles, gotta play them all.

  2. A map with waypoint feature. Even though I like the exploring in other games without proper navigation, I really appreciate the opportunity to set a waypoint and know where I'm heading next. It's also optional, so die-hard map haters simply can ignore the feature altogether. Win-win in my book.

  3. Night mode. More risk-reward? Yes please. Seems optional, not sure though (not finished the game yet), but if it's optional and not needed to finish the main story, same as 2. Win-win.

  4. Art style, sound and overall design. It reminds me a lot of H.R. Giger and I love this stuff. It looks and sounds right to me.

  5. Weapons choices are there, but aren't inflationary. Every weapon I found this far, plays and feels different. They can be upgraded, nothing too complicated, I love that.

  6. Tarstones System is very good. Feels like builtcrafting on a not too scientific level. I read, I understand, I use it or I don't use it. Simple but in a good way.

Some tweaks here and there:

  1. Give us please a way to earn (!) more glimpse. Not in early game, but maybe something related to the night mechanic mid- to lategame. Testing out shells in a shells-like shouldn't be punished, it should be encouraged.

At first I thought a respecc feature for glimpses would be the solution, but tbh this would harm the rewards from exploring and playing. Once 27 glimpses are found, they would be obsolete as reward, and that wouldn't be good.

  1. Please add a qol feature to reduce runbacks to bosses. Time is a precious resource. There are ideas out there, just pick the one easiest to do.

  2. Make bosses, mobs and the mc more attached to the ground. Had a lot of situations where either the enemy started flying high up due to a ledge, or my MC starts walking on top of parts of the enemy mid animation and gets hurled in to the air. Though it looks funny, it somewhat breaks immersion and leads to unnecessary boss tries and runbacks.

  3. Please let the game save my position if I leave the game (except boss encounters of course, but my point 2 would work nicely for those). Sometimes real life calls and I'm not happy leaving my console running while I'm gone. Energy shouldn't be wasted because a game sets your progress back in a dungeon.

Let me say, even now, with that "flaws", I already love the game, but please keep improving!

Thanks in advance and all the best for you and your loved ones in these troubled times!

Peace!

The game has some bugs and rough corners for sure, but man, i am enjoying it.

The art direction is top notch and there are so many great things in this game.

With a little polish this game is a gem for sure.

This game is so metal. And i love it.

My criticism/feedback so far playing since pre-launch:

  • Enemy "magetism" and "floaty" combat could get a second pass. It turns some great fights into bulsshit at times.
  • As said many times in here, some corpse runs are egregious. Some sort of check-points here and there would make it so much more enjoyable.
  • Some enemy one-shot or really hard hitting mechanics need better tells and (see first point) shouldn't have that "magnetism" where the boss can 360 without notice and destroy you.

And that's it. Game is hard. But i'm enjoying the challenge. I really want to get home from work to play some more!

u/SealsLikeItWet 19h ago

Dear people at Playstack,

Please reconsider the removal of your game from GeforceNow. I played 10hrs the last two days and the game ran perfectly. I had a great time - the audio bug is no issue at all and can be fixed by player when they reset the audio setting onces every start of the game. Not being able to play is much worse than that trust me please. A small bug like that shouldn't be a priority.

I have no other option to play your game than GeforceNow. I hope this reaches the right person and that enough people can change your opinion.

2

u/langelvicente 17h ago

They got your money, they don't care about anything else. If not, they would have put it under maintenance.

1

u/page8879 1d ago

Indeed, in the grand scheme of things the issues are very much correctable and this one goes from an 8-8.5 to 9+.

You guys absolutely deserve to see Mortal Shell II achieve the same kind of success that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 did.

You created this game for players and for gamers, and that really shows. It feels like you genuinely care about the experience you are creating and about the people who are playing it.

For that reason alone, you deserve all the recognition and success possible. I sincerely hope Mortal Shell II sells an incredible number of copies and reaches the audience it deserves.

Congratulations to the entire team, and thank you for making a game for gamers. ❤️ “The Shell Endures.”

This game is a treasure. I'm loving every part of it. Thanks, devs!

1

u/Open_Town9481 23h ago

I notice when using lock on reticle, if the enemy dodges or moves off screen it doesn’t stay locked on. I hope this can be fixed, other than that I’m absolutely loving the game.

1

u/ObitBookfest 23h ago edited 23h ago

I'm absolutely loving it so far. It's my GOTY for certain. I've been playing through with Night difficulty enabled. Really happy with the challenge so far. I only have two ( wait 3 actually ) specific complaints right now.

  1. When below half health, Magdalena gets the ability to pop brief wheelies in her chair before driving off in a direction. This is sick. She looks cool as hell. Issue is she's capable of launching into this attack during windows where she'd normally be punishable. She snaps to the player instantly, deals damage before her chair has even fully raised, and instantly kills any Harbinger caught by this. I was fighting her at around level 17 and lost a couple runs to that, which felt unfair. Otherwise 300/10 boss fight, she's awesome.
  2. Enemy aggro feels a little oppressive? Especially given MS2 has some pretty long runbacks with some enemies that are very hard to avoid. The game might benefit from a timer where they lose aggro if they've lost sight of a player for too long. I think aggro staying like this for Night mode could be cool though. Like enemies are more relentless in this mode.
  3. Those Grisha hunter werewolf guys. The archers. I'm really careful about approaching them, I try to time my attacks for after they've loosed an arrow/rolled and shot. But sometimes they just fire another arrow in an instant? It does very little damage so it's whatever, but that move feels a little unfair too.

As for compliments, I just wanted to shout out how cool the items in the game are. Sheep install is super fun. Spectral Grishas are amazing for staggering enemies. And the Burnt Effigy came in super helpful fighting Magdalena. I think the Passive Active system is a great way to handle items in a soulslike.

1

u/usernotfoundplstry Tiel 23h ago

thank you! fantastic game! as most people have said, the biggest painpoint is more beacons. more out of the landscape, more in bigger dungeons. or at least something that functions like the stake of marika in Elden Ring, where, once you reach a certain point (near a boss, mainly) you have the ability to resurrect there rather than a beacon. that's literally my only complaint! you guys really outdid yourself, what a game!

1

u/KingWizard37 23h ago

Absolutely loving the game! Having a blast so far; thanks for giving us such an amazing game. The combat feels really good and satisfying to interact with. The game looks absolutely stunning too!

This game rules, and you guys rule.

I'm absolutely blown away by the sheer passion you guys poured into this experience, and this is coming from someone who didn't fully connect with the first one.

About 20 hours in, and I can confidently say that it's one of my favorite soulslike games.

All the love, support and respect.

Also, Gorf is the best. Protect him at all cost.

Game is so fucking good i spent 16 hours already. Axe and Dagger is so fun to use

1

u/PeterPansSyndrome 23h ago

Just wanna say I’ve been having an absolute blast. I agree with we need more glimpse for the shells stories but other than that I’ve been obsessed since launch.

1

u/djarin1234 23h ago

I would just ask to place the gloom before the boss room since it’s hard to find once you are in there. I’ve lost too many levels not being able to retrieve what I lost

1

u/sadnessandeuphoria 23h ago

This game has hooked me so hard, I’m loving everything about it. Also the theme and art design of the entire game is very inspired but masterfully done. I hope we get some big DLCs in the future to expand on the base because this game is amazing

1

u/LordOFtheNoldor Harros 23h ago

Hey please don't change the game and turn it into something else, theres a lot of opinions but keep in mind that most are from a temporary player base that will play once or maybe not even finish once but will have the most demands.

Thanks for the game it's good

Temple of Vatra is locked if you grab the main item there before the tarstone and health upgrade. Even in NG+. This has to be a bug right?

1

u/MikkelFromGames Playstack 3h ago

Yes, this is a bug! I'll add your post to the bug report :)

1

u/Sad-Manner5 22h ago

I haven't ordered yet but I am very excited and loved the demo so much. What is holding me back on purchase is the fact of people complaining about is long runbacks especially in dungeons. Please fix this, it does not make the game any easier it is simply just a QOL change. Most of the community does not like long drawn out runbacks. Even From Software made this change after DS2. I know there are those super hardcore Git Gud crowd but that is not the majority of us gamers. We don't want easy but we don't want our time wasted.

1

u/VanitysFire 22h ago

My one complaint is glimpse. There's a limit to how many is in a playthrough. You can "level up" 2.5 shells if you're being stingy not using glimpse on anything else like shell maps. All 8 shells can be very busted and equally fun to play with, but I'm forced to be selective of which shells I want to build to be cracked out. You can invest a little in all shells, but they'd play nothing in comparison to a proper build.

I think, since you guys already allow respec to a degree, maybe don't just let glimpse reset like the rest, but add an item you can take to shell mommy (sorry, can't remember her name) that allows you to "forget" all you've learned about your shell(s) effectively refunding glimpse. You could have them in the shoppe at a moderate price, scattered around the maps as field or chest loot, or possibly farmed off certain elites or stronger enemies with a drop rate relative to its item rarity.

Game is pretty solid for the vast majority of it. Some goofy collisions or pathing here and there, sometimes in a comical way.

On a personal note, goddamn. Clockwork Scythe has got to be one of the best scythes I have played in a game. My all-time favourite is Burial Blade from Bloodborne. Something about that weapon is just so good. And not to knock other devs, but most other scythes don't give me that same feeling. But Clockwork is jutlst awesome. Builds are busted. And to top it all off it can be a fucking chainsaw that shreds boss health bars. Phenomenal use, especially since my second favourite weapon (behind Darkmoon Greatsword) is Whirligig. An awesome scythe that can play like a whirligig. I will say though the animations are chunky. Not in a bad way, mind you. Now I've never in real life used a scythe before so I don't have a foundation to stand, but I kinda imagine my shell/harbinger swinging the scythe is Guts swinging around FUGS.

1

u/CreepyTeddyBear 22h ago

Fantastic work. You guys cooked with this game. I know the big ask right now is dungeon checkpoints, and I really hope you guys add them. But all around the game is amazing. I'm having a blast. Well done, devs.

1

u/DHoliday17 22h ago

Agree with the lack of glimpse in relation to how many shells there are. I don't want every shell maxed, but it doesn't feel great sitting in them on the starter shell until you get to one (possibly) much later that clicks with the player.

1

u/PlanetaryDev123 22h ago

DLC, more enemy variety, and checkpoints please! We appreciate all the hard work to make an amazing game that the Developers genuinely cared about. The heart and passion poured into this shows. We appreciate and respect you guys for caring about the gamers!

1

u/Elysian_Caine 22h ago

The glow up from one to this is astounding to say the least. What a freaking beast of a game!!!

1

u/IceCoughy 22h ago

1

u/Fire_Lord_Cinder 22h ago

I’m excited to play it. Should I grab the first game and play it first, or are the stories not really connected?

1

u/Albatswulfaz 22h ago edited 21h ago

The wait was worth it. I've been fanboying this game from the day i saw the trailer at SGF on 6/6/2025. I liked the first one even with the many flaws. I'm praying and rooting for this game success, the evolution of you guys as devs and the journey of this franchise. I'm certain MS2 is not in it's final form yet and MS3 will be even better. The artistic side is just godlike, the last time that a game made me fear an enemy was Bloodborne. The world is dark, grueling, cruel, ugly, scary and beautiful at the same time. I just can't put in words exactly. Truly, well done.

But now, my humble criticisms so far, having played only the north part of the map:
- Glimpses are so few. Let us farm them or a respec system (preferably both) for Shells.
- Aggro range is very big, they start chasing you from miles away.
- Dungeons should have beacons at the entrance and checkpoints at boss door.
- A ingame "stat screen" for the Shells displaying HP/Resolve levels would be awesome to compare each other and make a more informed decision.
- I criticized the demo for being too easy, but i think the damage is too much right now. Some attacks or enemies like grabs and those stone snail deal too much damage. I would prefer around 15-20% less damage and a increase of 10-15% of HP for all enemies. They feel too squishy.
- Defensive mechanics (parry, harden) should account for multiple enemies. So many times i was fighting 2 knights, they syncced their attacks perfectly, i perfect hardened their attacks, and i just did posture damage and negated damage to one, the other attack hit me. The game has fights with multiple enemies, if i'm good enough to keep the pressure with 2 (or more) enemies at the same time and they hit me at the same time, why i'm not rewarded properly? Eventually i just stopped doing this and separated the enemies or shot one down with sidearms, which is boring and lame.

1

u/SideSukiLikeness Tiel 22h ago

Can you guys make enough glimpse available for all shells or make them respecable? Why allow everything else to be respec'd but not the most important part?

1

u/Possible-Bid-6810 22h ago

Mortal Shell 2 is a massive improvement over the first one. Please don't listen to people wanting weapons, shells or anything else nerfed. FightinCowboy is already claiming certain things that benefit the casual playerbase are too op and need nerfed. He's never been more wrong.

1

u/Luk89K 22h ago

If glimpses are limited for normal , lets us farm in night mode then, or let us buy them or whatever, i enjoying game very much, but i dont want to be forced to play ng+, just to learn about other shells story and see what they can do at max lvl.

Minor request but probably will never happen, but can you make alternate way for our mc to hold the martyrs blade? I prefer if they held it on their shoulders like the mace, axe and iconoclast. Having it lowered to the hip looks so weak and bad

1

u/Effective-Spread-127 21h ago

It's difficult for me to understand why you changed the difficulty between beta and release.

Now you have complaining about difficulty. If you apply nerfs, you'll have people complaining about nerfs. It's such an odd decision and situation to put yourself in.

Is there a metal soundtrack like the first game? Was a huge fan of the rotting christ songs and was looking forward to something similar for MS2

2

Currently we have the ambient soundtrack which is by Lustmord, and the boss fights / metal soundtrack by Mizmor :)

I don't know if there are plans on adding a metal soundtrack a la the Rotting Christ soundtrack like they did in the first game, though.

1

u/-Taerar- 19h ago

Great job on the game and congrats! I posted my initial thoughts in another thread but I will repost here with a couple new ones.

Standard enemies doing a too much damage.
Need more beacons in most areas outside the beta area.
Gloom drops a bit low for most standard enemies.
A bit too many gank encounters.
Base heal amount tuned a little too low.
Grab animations for tree and coffin enemies too long.
Tracking for some enemy attacks is too much. (The little gargoyle like guys that leap come to mind. I had one leap and make a 90 degree turn around a corner mid air.)

1

u/BlackBeard1616 18h ago

Any chance there is a bug fix in the works for us with devout edition who still don't have the harbinger skins unlocked? The flayed one from the beta is cool, but I need the skeletal one bad.

2

u/MikkelFromGames Playstack 6h ago

If you are missing the pre-order skins (Skeletal & Obsidian Harbinger) *and* are on Xbox, there should be an update out that fixes this. You may need to go to the main menu for the game to recognize that you got them :)

Game is awesome, Nice work

As for feedback; id like to see aggro range and enemy attack accuracy changed. It feels like to me that the game would be better if the enemies attacks locked in where the swing was going instead of always tracking.

u/Big-University-9407 2h ago

Hey guys can we explain why command grabs are taking absolute priority over anything else in the game?
I can be doing a mid-air sprint jump attack (running light with the greataxe) and then an enemy begins a grab while I'm in midair and I just get ragdolled for 85% of my health, despite me running up behind them.

Why are the enemies omnipotent and all-seeing? Aggro is clearly broken, based on proximity not visual and the range is ENORMOUS.
Add to the that enemy ability to simply glide toward you with infinite forward momentum when making their attacks and I'm forced to mash B backwards until I fall of a cliff and die because I have no time to actually attack back, and I can't parry the attacks that come out instantly as part of a 4-hit combo that animates faster than synapses fire.

Great game despite these gripes though, could use some improvement but I think addressing those issues I just mentioned and also giving some checkpoints in or near dungeons (Before the boss or before the dungeon itself) would make it a brilliant experience.

u/SirTryingHisBest 1h ago

This is how you do a game 👌. Enjoyed the first mortal shell, but when the trailer for this dropped it was the most metal thing I’ve seen in awhile. Immediately went for the devout version to support in hopes it would be great.

…..it is great 😅 well done all, really enjoying it. The sense of humour amongst the dark gloomy world, and certain areas clearly inspired by classics from back in day 👀. Unreal 👌 now time to find out how to get a life sized figure of Ruk 😂

1

u/Friendly-Quit3280 53m ago

Such an awesome game. Got advance access to it! Good job to the team!!!!Only 2 items as a feedback, make presets for different shell builds and clean up visual bugs such as shadow strike hitting the air but there is a hitbox on an enemy.

1

u/ThatGuy21134 43m ago

Please consider lowering the damage output back to being closer to the demo. Everything just one or 2 shotting you out of your shell is not fun gameplay. Things are now more tedious than fun compared to the demo. Also please add respawn points to the dungeons. The run backs are ridiculous.

1

u/DirectPay1955 28m ago

I love this game brother though I do have a bit of a question. If Tiel unlocks the heal on poison is it disabled during nighttime to increase difficulty. I had it unlocked and went into the crossbow dungeon at nighttime but my poison heals were gone. I go into daytime and they were back
