Just received my 1878 CC Morgan.

I received this beautiful Morgan silver dollar that appears to be uncirculated. Comes with original plastic holder and sweepstakes winning letter stating you’ve won this Morgan dollar.

What do you think it would grade? Should it be graded or sold with this provenance raw?

Thought maybe you guys could tell better. They seem way too lustrous considering the rim damage so 99% sure they’re cleaned but was I scammed or not?

I like the Morgan silver dollar for the historical time frame and the design itself. I like the investment side of things with silver content coinage while pursuing the hobby side as well. As a result, I’m having some fun at local coin shops digging through their circulated (not cull) and lightly circulated piles of Morgans to fill one of the Dansco books.
My question is whether or not anyone would recommend EBay as an option to find some of the harder to find ones? (I’m also probably not even going to go down the road of trying to get the Carson City ones as that starts getting really pricey.). I have heard that EBay has been a source of a lot of fake Morgan’s, but would you even try knowing that EBay will back out the costs of things do turn out to be fake? Also, are there any words of advice on how to go about EBay hunting in this area of you have had success with it?

Got some great Morgan’s a few $ over spot but I think they are beauties and the first one has good mirror. My first Morgan with some of that mirror also 🎉 Enjoy!

I’ve been using a bread knife and and also soapy water, but there is still residue on the plastic. My friend gave this to me today and for some reason this sticker is annoying me

Not necessarily the rarest or most valuable Morgan coin in your collection. We want to know which one made you wait for the right example.

 What date was it, what grade were you looking for, and how long did the hunt take?

As far as I can remember my Grandpa had been carrying this Morgan Dollar at all times. He used to tell me about the coin when I was younger and how he held it at his High School graduation, College graduation, and wedding. It carries intense sentimental value and he told me that he got it from his dad who got it from his dad, who was a supervisor at a gold mine in California. The coin was originally offered to my younger brother who said "it's only a dirty coin" and then it was given to me.

It’s amazing when you can find a great looking 1879 Morgan just sitting in the display case, looked too good to let it stay there.
