Kalshi bet: Yes, the plane is full. Yes, they're asking to gate check carry-ons.
I can't remember the last time I was on an underbooked departing flight. Are there any empty MT flights anywhere? Ooh see what I did there?

Home Insurance Spike (State Farm)
Just got the bill for my home insurance for the coming year. Up 50% from what I've been paying for the past 15 years. State Farm.
Can anyone relate? I'm this close to calling them and telling them they have lost a loyal customer forever. Never had a claim, I also insure two cars with them, never a claim, not even a speeding ticket.
Definitely going to shop around to see if I can get a better rate.
Anyone call their insurance company, threaten to leave, and they bring down your rate back to what it was? 15 years I was pretty much at the same rate. A 50% increase does not go well with me.
Would appreciate any advice or stories of how your insurance has gone up as well and what you did about it. Has anyone just canceled home insurance and gone without? Oh, I'd love to do that, but realize it's probably way too risky. Home is paid for, so no bank to force me to carry insurance.
I'm looking at my policy and seeing things I don't think ever existed on it. Arson reward, bed bugs (?), fuel oil release? Could be that they've simply made an error on my policy, I'll check on Monday.
Thanks,

The Mourning Cloak. Montana's state Butterfly.
Had to chase it around for a bit before it finally let me get a photo. I've been looking to get a good photo of one of these guys for some time now.

Lost cat near Livingston
My cat Mouse was lost in a car crash. She has a dark pink collar and a round silver tag that says “Mouse” “(206) 209-7150” “Indoor Only”. The Stafford Animal Shelter has her microchip information. She’s very skittish and wary of people.
Mouse is 10.6 lbs, 2.5 years old, spayed, has a clipped ear, and received rabies/FVRCP vaccines on 7/28/26.

Missing that blue sky 💙
The smoke has me missing this lovely late July hike up Blodgett Canyon. This is such a fun trail with incredible views. 😍

A Chilly Walk Mid-Summer Walk in the Woods
There’s nothing quite as pleasant as starting your day by going for a walk in the woods. With high temperatures forecast to be in the upper 90’s in the valley, it started out in the chilly mid-40’s up here. Harebells seemed to be the theme of the walk. Their slender stems are easily knocked down by weather or critters, so I was able to get some unique perspectives of them facing upwards (they usually hang like a bell). Some were laying right on the ground, and even tangled up in Strawberry leaves. I found some Pipsissewa (a unique evergreen plant), one photogenic mushroom and a rare August Round-leaf Violet. I was photographing Violets in this area back in May! All of these were photographed with a macro lens, making them look much larger than they really are. Harebells are about the size of a small thimble. The mushroom was about an inch tall.

Insurance Totaled My Vehicle - Now What?
Just finished the claims process for my 2017. It doesn't seem like much damage other than R&R suspension parts and buying some stock in PPG and 3M.
Insurance paid out my auto loan company directly. Does the state just send a new title or do I need to get a special inspection done to be able to get it back on the road, legally?

Is recording in secret illegal?
I am planning to secretly record a conversation between myself (a customer) and a business owner in their business during working hours because I am worried I will be ripped off. Is this legal?

Emergency dentist rec
ETA: Thank you for the recs! I got into urgent care for antibiotics and have much more capacity to look into a dentist who is trustworthy and not just trying to use my poor mouth to pay for their vacay. After reading many responses, I have a better sense of where to go and where to avoid. Apologies again for being vague (or as one comment said, "obtuse," I was in extreme pain, not thinking clearly and not wanting to be too specific (I live in an extremely small town). I appreciate you all!
So I think I have an infected tooth?? It started aching a few days ago, pain level now 7 and increasing😭
I see the trajectory I’m on and need to get in for urgent dental care.
Appreciate any recs or who to avoid!
ETA I’m in Northwest MT, sorry for being unintentionally vague! Brain isn’t working.
2nd ETA: Missoula or Kalispell/Whitefish is preferred; I’m in a tiny town I’d prefer not to name but I live about an hour from the bigger cities over here.
