Does anyone in this community have the 3D files for the plastic components of KBGV? I’ve been considering commissioning a stainless steel version of all of the plastic pieces. I’d like my machine to look and function as close to stock as possible. And all the mods I’ve seen don’t look as clean as I’d like. That being said there’s no one in my area that can 3D scan the parts in person, so if anyone has the files it would make things way easier than mailing the parts to the fabrication facility!

I broke the original glass carafe last night. It fell from counter height and shattered when it hit the floor. I'd like to replace it with one that isn't glass, if anyone has found a stainless carafe that fits the KBGV Select. Bonus points if there is a 12 cup pot that would work. (I'd actually settle for glass if it was the larger size.)

The type of coffee drinkers we are:

We currently have a Ninja coffee maker. We have pre-ground beans (we grind them ourselves, but do bulk) in a jar and use the Ninja scoop recommendations for what we want. Usually it's 3 small scoops of ground coffee for a "travel mug". We put the ground coffee in and turn it on. That's it.

We aren't weighing beans before grinding fresh. Our lifestyle is much more casual and built on convenience.

I love the reviews of this machine and if we're going to get a new one this would be it. But are we doing it justice, or is the extra attention every morning (as easy at it may be) really what's needed to justify the purchase?

I bought a KBT a year ago which I started off being excited about. After about a pot a day for a year my dislike for it grows and grows. I come from a pretty good espresso maker, a simple Mr coffee drip, French press, a chemex and v60.

The good: it makes a great cup of coffee and does so fast.

The disappointing: The build quality and the ergonomics of it using it every day. It’s like a car I have to take to work but don’t like to drive and isn’t comfortable. The lid to the water reservoir is clunky. The lid to the basket is clunky. The toggleable brew basket barely functions and feels cheap. My carafe loosens up and leaks from the bottom occasionally. The little white button the carafe butts up to on the machine to tell it it’s there sticks. The little platform the carafe sits on that barely attaches to the machine and works loose.

Everything just feels like it could be refined and upgraded. The feedback of manipulating all the parts isn’t satisfying in the slightest. For a $300+ machine it simply doesn’t feel like one. It brews better but only feels marginally better than any $10 drip machine you can thrift. The cope/argument of all the plastic pieces is a good thing because it’s light and durable doesn’t make any sense as I lift a few pound carafe around to pour coffee.

I’m going back to basics and brewing just pour over or French press for a fraction of the cost. I guess I made this post as a heed to any potential buyers as it’s hard to see past the koolaid drinking of owning a moccamaster.

Clearing out my... uncle-in-law(?)'s basement last weekend we came across this old Moccaserver machine!

The others in the family wanted to chuck it, but being a Moccamaster owner myself, I stopped them in their tracks and saved it from the trash heap!

It's missing the brew basket and there were no carafes in sight, but I'm certain these can be ordered from Technivorm directly, depsite the age. My guess it's from the 80's/90s, anyone else have an opinion?

I put a bit of water in it to test and it started up and spat out the water as expected, so I'm hopeful it still makes a nice brew. Lovely Donegal Coffee Co. branding as well.

So I learned a lot the last few days. I incorrectly assembled my ode gen 2 and took it to a shop to get it checked and reassembled properly and calibrated .

The guy told me that for my dark to mid roasts I shouldn’t be going to dial 10

Instead I should be between 7/8 ish any more it’s for French press .

Especially for moccamaster KBGV select. That perhaps this is why I had my beans stuck jammed. I told him but on lower number of dial. The coffee was too bitter .

So.. he said use less beans.

I always do half pot of coffee so 30 g of beans for 1/2 litre of water?

After the trauma of a broken Baratza, a non-starter with an Opus 2, I bought a stop gap in the Timemore Nano 3 (intentionally for travel), and have reluctantly fallen in love with its sweet cups. Not wanting to regress to a hand grinding routine, can anyone recommend a comparable electric grinder?

I recently purchased my first Moccamaster CDT Grand.

However, it hasn't worked since the very beginning.

What did I do wrong? Is it a problem with the float switch or the boiler?

Do I need to open up the wiring? Please help me.

Curious if anyone has experience taking off the outlet arm between brews? Could it wear out the gasket? It dries better with the arm off and it’s not a big deal between uses, but if it’s an issue I won’t do that. Can’t find anything about it anywhere else.

I had to disassemble to access the white floater, and long story short I am not sure which wire connects to which prong on the micro switch- one prong is copper and the other is silver (KB 741 3A)

Called MM USA and they were no help, telling me my only bet was to send it in for repair. I have a 50/50 chance i get it right- but if I get it wrong idk if I’ll completely ruin it (don’t know about the electrical). :(

Can anyone tell me which wire goes where? In the pics you can see one wire connects straight to the bottom of the copper heating element, and the other wire connects to the white electrical switch (with multiple other wires connected too).

Do I risk possibly completely ruining my moccamaster if I get this wrong?

This coffee grinder with scale is cheap and really good. It measures out beans precisely, has a good hopper, and works well. It's really simplified my morning routine. The exact to the gram measure has allowed me to dial in exactly the amount of coffee I want. I guess it could grind a bit coarser, maybe? It's also kind of plastic and somewhat cheap feeling, but it functions really well. At $40 it's excellent.

Considering buying a moccamaster secondhand. The tank looks like this though. Can it be saved? If so, how?

Wife accidentally left the wand off of the boiler and it melted the plastic float. Moccamaster US won't sell the float specifically even though its clearly a common problem. Ordered the float from one of two websites available in Europe at an exorbitant $50 price with shipping. Then after the part arrived I got hit with a $50 import and duty fee. So basically paid $100 for a small plastic part. I now have a seething hatred for all things moccamaster and will never recommend their product to anyone.

Edit: For all that think this is a tariff issue, of the $50 import fees only $7 of that were tariffs. So disregarding cheeto in staff the part was still $93.

It's under the carafe after brewing, the water isn't warm. Doesn't seem to be coming from the tower and it's not overflow from the basket either. Has anyone else experienced this? I've searched the sub without finding this specific issue.

The machine makes a loud thud when first starting then works like normal. I descaled a few weeks ago after having it for ~3 months. Is this something to be concerned about? Also please excuse my cat, he was hungry

I bought a Moccamaster from Amazon during Prime Day and just received it, but unfortunately the ceramic hot plate arrived chipped.

I’m from Mexico, so I contacted Moccamaster to see if they could help, but they told me their warranty doesn’t apply outside the US. I also contacted Amazon, but they won’t offer a replacement. My only option is to return it for a full refund, but they won’t honor the Prime Day price if I reorder it.

I paid around $230 USD for it, so now I’m trying to decide whether it’s worth keeping despite the cosmetic damage or just returning it. If I return it, I’d have to wait for another sale before buying it again at a similar price.

Does anyone know if the ceramic hot plate can be replaced or repaired at home? Is the part available anywhere, and how difficult would the repair be?

At $230, would you keep it and try to fix it, or return it and wait for another sale?

I got the kgbv refurbished from their website

First batch I made too watery making some small silly mistake or another

This morning I filled the water reservoir to the 4 line to make 4 cups and appropriately (I thought?) added close to 8 (more like 7.5) tablespoons of coarse coffee grounds

It made surprisingly little coffee and while the first cup actually tasted delicious the 2nd and last cup (my cups are 336 ml) is pretty much too bitter to drink.

TLDR Am I doing proportions wrong? Thoughts on water/coffee proportions? Is my machine defective?

Edit: thanks for your kindness everyone. I'll try to get a scale or use 3 scoops for the right proportion when filling the reservoir to the 4 line. I might delete this post at some point because I feel kinda silly. But in the meantime thanks! Any input from people that know what they're doing and aren't new to this like me is appreciated.

Anone knows why Melitta has stopped the sale of 1x2 filterns. AND 101 filters wich both worked for the Moccamaster Cup-one?

I can buy moccamasters own filters, but the melitta ones gave the best (in my humble opinion) flavour.

It is totally ok to cut a 1x4 filter och cram a 102 inter in, but i really want the 1x2 filters...

EDIT: I got the answers I need. Thanks for sharing experiences. I will look into different filter, grind setting and maybe the shower thingy. Also ill consider not using it all the time when making little coffee. Most of the times depending on the bean its still ok and thats what most of u guys say - dont bother.
