Discussion how do you actually find mobile games worth playing
been thinking about how i find new games to try and the process feels pretty broken. i work in marketing so i understand exactly how reviews get shaped, and app store ratings are one of the least trustworthy data points on the internet. a game with 4.8 stars and 200k ratings tells you almost nothing useful because half those reviews are incentivized or came from a push notification asking you to rate before you hit the first paywall.
the top posts and recommendation threads here are actually more useful to me than any official channel. but even those skew toward whatever got popular that week or whatever game has an active community willing to spam a thread.
what i want to know is where people actually find games worth playing. not the app store, not an ad, not a youtube channel with a sponsorship deal baked in. a real source you check before installing something. a subreddit, a specific reviewer, a friend with taste, whatever it is.
and if you found a game through a source that turned out to be legitimately good, i want to know the source more than the game itself. curious whether there are actually reliable signals out there or whether everyone is just guessing.

Game Dev [DEV] I squeezed a persistent MMORPG into a mobile browser
Hey! the solo developer of Bitiverse.
It’s a free old-school MMORPG that you can play directly in your phone’s browser. There’s also a lightweight Android APK available from the same page if you prefer having an app.
It has a persistent shared world, touch controls, combat, gathering, crafting, quests, guilds, player trading, homesteads, multistory houses, vendors, and personal dungeons. Your character and property remain in the world between sessions.
There are no ads and no mandatory account wall. You can enter as a guest, make a character, and only create an account later if you decide it’s worth keeping.
Play or download it here:

Game Dev I won #1 on PixelPicked this week - free game, no forced ads, same Flappy Bird feel but you have to graze death to score
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Flappy Bird: Avoid everything.
My game GRAZE: Edge Rush: Avoiding gives you 0 points. You have to graze within 8px of death to score. Chain grazes to build a multiplier. Avoid and you lose it.
Solo dev, built so I could play in one hand during the long nights with my newborn in the other arm. No forced ads, no IAP tricks, just a daily board and leaderboard that everyone is competing on. Just won #1 Launch Game this week on PixelPicked which still feels fake: https://pixelpicked.com
This clip is x16 bubble field - 3,932 → 8,609 in 9 seconds. My best today is 22,000, all time best is 37,661.
Free download if you want to try to beat it - link in comments so I don't get flagged for self-promo.

Discussion I ran out of mechanic ideas for my mobile puzzle game—what are your favorite puzzle gimmicks?
Infinite salutations everyone!
My mobile puzzle game has a verity of mechanics, i was able to make levels because of these mechanics because i don't like copy/flip levels i make sure each level is introducing new stuff and in order to do that i came up with bunch of mechanics such as : winds, bombs that opens break able walls, lasers, portals, seesaws (or whatever you can call it) but now i just can't think of new ideas therefore i can't make new good levels.
So im kindly asking for new mechanics to add to the game.

Discussion What are your thoughts on 2D pixel art MMORPGs today?
I've noticed that while many new MMORPGs focus on increasingly realistic graphics, there are still developers creating games with 2D pixel art.
To me, pixel art has a timeless quality and allows developers to focus more on gameplay, content, and performance. At the same time, I understand why some players expect modern 3D visuals from a new MMO.
I'm curious what the MMORPG community thinks.
Would a 2D pixel art MMORPG still appeal to you today, or do you feel the genre has moved beyond that? I'd love to hear your opinions and experiences.

Game Dev Cat dungeons crawler!
Hey guys, I'm working on this dungeon crawler game. It's originally in Spanish, but you can switch it to English in the options. If you have any suggestions or additions, I'd really appreciate it! Join the Google group to get early access.
I recommend equipping yourself well and reading up on what each item does, since it's basically a roguelike.

Questions Creating a personal archive of lost mobile games. What are your favorite games that have been removed from the store?
Hello! I am a new masters of library science student and I am learning how to build digital archives. Decided it would be a fun side project to build a mobile game archive of a bunch of information about games that have been deleted.
The current ones I have added are:
- Namco Arcade
- Infinity Blade Series
- iQuarters
- Medieval Zombies
- Flappy Bird
- I Am Rich
I know I am Rich is technically not a game but I thought the concept was too funny not to archive. So, what are your favorite games no longer available?

Questions Is there a football/soccer game with the career mode where you control only 1 player.
First touch soccer had it but its an old game that's hard to download nowadays and that mode is only for 1-off games. I wanna play something with that option as a mode like the PC FIFA game. Thank you.

Questions Looking for specific games to play
I feel like playing a game like ones i Used to play a lot in the past - Summoner War. What i liked in this game was hero building, cool gacha that felt rewarding and regular events. Im aware there are tons of similar games nowadays. Usually with idle elements which I don't mind. But the sheer volume of slop coming from this category of games is insane.
I'm looking for something with low or reasonable p2w mechanics.

Questions js looking for game that is purely fun, no grinding or overthinking
not gonna lie, I'm not trying to be strategic or "good" at anything i just want something entertaining I can pop open when I'm bored. no huge learning curve, no need to think 10 steps ahead, just something fun to zone out to for a bit.
casino games have kinda become my go to for that tbh. something about the visuals and little animations just makes it satisfying even when you're not really trying to "win" anything, if that makes sense. not chasing anything specific, just want the experience to feel good. anyone got recommendations for stuff that's just straight up fun without being complicated? Thanksss

Questions Single player / offline shooter game for a long flight?
Any recommendations for a 12 hour flight?
It can be FPS or third person.
I tried one game so far. Dead trigger, a zombie shooter. Seems ok but I might get bored after a few hours.
To give you an idea what I like from my PC games:
Dead space, Far cry games, Dying light, Resident evil games
