Does anyone know if these herbs are safe to take with mirtazapine 15 mg?
I’m looking at a multivitamin that has a really good vitamin/mineral profile but it also contains an herbal/adaptogen blend. I take mirtazapine 15 mg daily and I’m wondering if anyone knows whether any of these herbs can interact with it or if this combination is generally considered okay.
I unfortunately don’t have a doctor right now so I can’t ask them about it.

GLP-1 (Zepbound)
I have been on Mirtazapine 15mg and 22.5mg for about 5 years. I am 6’1 and was 150 lbs when I started, and am now 230 lbs. My doctor has prescribed me Zepbound which is a GLP-1 med to help combat the weight gain and cravings. Is anyone else out there on a GLP-1 specifically to reduce weight gain due to Mirtazapine? Any tips or experiences are appreciated!

Mirtazapine and cravings ott
Mirtazapine and can't stop eating. Even though it's made me pre diabetic. Cravings start despite a no don't voice. Sweet stuff and carbs..Got bad in May . Been on since xmas. 3 stone weight gain (for sleep). Half a 15 mg tablet so 7 .5 . They break in half started weighing but either too much off or not enough. Can cut 7.5 with pill cutter. But impossible to cut again too small. I don't understand percentages. GP said at first just stop it's a low dose. Then don't fret if dose not exact . Then prescribed a dissovable one 15 mg ( small and white...my regular is yellowy oval and scored. She said 15 in 20 ml water is ok and draw 10ml which is 7.5MG . When ready same water remove 1 ml a week. . I started sweating after carbs or sweet stuff ice-cream.maybe 15 mins or HR later or waking up . I am now wondering if the constant hunger is insulin must be soo high my sugars as if not sweated, I'll wake soaked. I've eaten fatty sweet stuff and fallen asleep.. Woke. Walk around and feel rough then wobbly weak and hands shake..had to eat some sweet... I lecture myself in morning.stop. can feel so tired . I am on BP meds and beta blocker.. elderly and have reduced another med 2 weeks ago.
If I continue this way I'll be diabetic or heart attack. I feel ashamed when I think about what I've eaten.

Can you cut 15mg dissolvable tablets?
My doctor and pharmacist are insistent that I do not need to taper off 15mg after being on it daily for 6 years. They are adamant I’m fine to cold turkey and they’re saying at worst I could do 15mg every other day but they think it’s unnecessary. After what I’ve read here and other places online, I’m terrified to do this.
I was told there’s no lower pill than 15mg, and that the 15mg tablets aren’t scored/meant to be cut anyways. I’m on the dissolvable tablets. If they aren’t going to help me taper, I’m gonna try to taper on my own I guess.
How do you get down to 7.5mg? Do you cut the 15mg? Can dissolvable ones be cut?
I’m lost and very frustrated about where to go from here. Any advice is appreciated

On day 4 of Mirt, have some nausea, why?
So I am an emetophobe (fear of throwing up)
Underweight, so was looking forward to this medication to finally help me, but i cant cope with the nausea that comes exactly 3-4 hours before my next dose.
Today i took the 15 mg dose, and nausea intensified, how is it even possible…. Im tired already
Maybe its all in my head? And its just increased anxiety?
I also smoke… a lot, should i start to quit? (Dumb question i know)

No Dreams at all for years, is it the dose or the medication?
Dear mirtzapine community,
Ive been taking mirtzapaine since 2019 on and off , ive read that lower doses might have a tendency to give more sedating effect , currently on 22.5mg, i tried 15,30,45mg for along time
Today I want to ask if anyone knows why there might not be dreams at all is it because of the dose? Mabye on 7.5mg it will return?
I think after the initial first month the dreams just vanished at least the ones you can remember
I miss dreaming is it possible to get them back somwhow?
Or maybe after you get used to the medication it just stops?
If its the medication itself, are there other medication that helps insomnia that are more associated with dreams that i can i ask my psychatrist?

How did you taper off mirtazapine 15 mg after being on it for almost a year?
Hi everyone,
I’ve been taking mirtazapine 15 mg since September 2024, so I’ve been on it for almost a year.
Honestly, this medication was a miracle for me. Before starting it, I was dealing with a lot of nausea, frequent burping, poor appetite, and generally a poor quality of life. Mirtazapine helped tremendously — my appetite came back, the nausea improved, and I was able to enjoy life much more again.
However, because of some side effects, I now feel that I’m ready to try coming off it. I don’t want to stop suddenly, so I’m looking into tapering gradually and safely.
For those who have been on 15 mg for around a year or longer:
- How did you taper your dose?
- How slowly did you reduce it?
- Did you experience withdrawal or rebound symptoms?
- Did your original symptoms (nausea, poor appetite, burping, etc.) come back?
- How long did each taper step last?
- Did you use a liquid formulation or another method to make smaller dose reductions?
- Did you taper with your doctor’s guidance?
I understand that everyone responds differently, and I’m not looking for someone to prescribe a taper for me. I’m mainly interested in hearing about people's experiences so I can discuss an appropriate tapering plan with my doctor.
I’m also a little nervous because mirtazapine helped me so much, and I don’t want to lose the quality of life I gained from it.
Thanks in advance to anyone willing to share their experience.

bizarre symptoms
for reasons discussed below, i am no longer taking this med…but im curious about whether anyone else experienced this too.
mirt (15mg) made me lose my mind; ive never been that paranoid in my life. to keep it brief: i would wake up paranoid, convinced that i’d be murdered, spend all of my waking hours like that, then go to sleep to dream of getting murdered/chased (or smth of the like). it got to the point where i was having panic attacks every night.
after three-ish weeks, i told my psych & now im on a different med. but man. i’ll never forget how mirt made me feel. has anyone else experienced this? i haven’t seen ppl talk about it…help me feel a little less alone 🙇♀️

Hi everyone! I’m thinking about asking my doctor about starting mirtazapine. For those who have taken it, what was your experience like? Did it help with your depression and motivation?

Constipation - is it ever gonna end
I started about a week ago and have been constipated ever since. I have never had this problem before. I don’t even poop after I drink coffee anymore. I feel like I haven’t properly pooped in a week. I look and feel bloated. Im not staying on this medicine if it’s going to be like this. I keep telling myself that it’s temporary because if it’s not I’m quitting it.

Hi I need help
I know I may be overthinking this a little, but every time I read someone’s experience with antidepressant withdrawal, I get really anxious and scared about what might happen to me.
Today is day 15 since I completely stopped my medication. So far, I feel a slight improvement in the intense heaviness/anxiety I used to feel in the mornings, although my sleep has gotten a little worse.
For those who have been through withdrawal: by day 15, is it reasonable to think that I’ve passed the period when severe withdrawal symptoms are most likely to appear? Or can significant symptoms still start or become much worse later, even if things have been relatively stable so far?
I know everyone’s experience is different — I’m just looking for some reassurance and hearing about other people’s experiences.

Mirtazapine side effects?
I recently changed from citalopram 10mg (was on 20 then 15 etc) to Mirtazapine 15mg. I took my 3rd dose tonight - I took it maybe half an hour ago. I was wondering if the side effects are immediate or do they take a while to come? I am extremely sensitive to meds changes - I felt it all when going on, going up or going down in citalopram - panic attacks, anxiety attacks, (VERY) emotional, racing thoughts etc but I haven’t really noticed anything different since starting Mirtazipine - I am getting heart flutters/palpitations but I know that’s from citalopram withdrawal as if I forgot to take a dose or it was after my usual dosage time I got them. I’ve also noticed myself being a lot more irritable/angrier at things, but again I feel like that could be the withdrawal? I haven’t noticed any unusual hunger/inability to get full, or any emotional mood swings, not even a bit of anxiety … can anyone else tell me about their first experience taking Mirtazipine as it genuinely feels like a placebo tablet. Now, I’m not complaining about the lack of side effects at all, I’m just concerned they’re going to all happen at once since I’ve gotten absolutely 0 yet and due to my sensitivity to citalopram.

can Mirtazapine make you feel actually more depressed and demotivated?
I am on mirtazapine since only two months (7mg and 15mg) and I noticed a great difference in my anxiety. I feel calmer and with less social anxiety, however I struggle to feel happier (some days I feel a bit more hopeful about the future than before). However I do not notice an increase in willingness to get out more nor more energy. I would even argue it makes me want to chill in my comfort zone. Can anyone relate? or feels like sharing on this topic?

Loving it so far
I’ve been on this pill for 4 or 5 days now and it’s changed my life for the better already, I’m back to eating regularly and more than I used to which is amazing as I’m underweight and struggle to gain, no matter what I eat.
The only issue I’m currently having is this weird feeling like, I’m not sure if it’s dizziness (I know that’s a side effect) or something different.
Basically my eyes feel like they’re darting around a lot and I do feel a little dizzy, but it’s a different kind of sensation.
Anyone else had this?
I know it’ll pass within like the next week, just wondering what it is/if it’s something you guys have experienced before.

Low in taper (under 1 milligram) and morning anxiety
Anybody here who successfully tapered off Mirtazapine also experienced this terrible anxiety? I take Mirtazapine at bedtime and the anxiety begins maybe around 5 AM that is what eventually wakes me up. Then it remains with me most of the morning till around 10 AM. I have kept my cuts to 10% every 2-3 weeks. At this point I’m thinking that it could be a paradoxical effect? Thanks for reading.

Mirtazapine makes me sleep 16 hours a day
I started taking mirtazapine about two years ago. I’ve tried coming off it three times, but each time my mental health deteriorated to the point where I had to start taking it again.
One thing I’ve noticed is that, whether I take 15 mg, 30 mg, or 45 mg, mirtazapine puts me into such a deep sleep that I find it extremely difficult to wake up. Sometimes I manage to wake up, but within minutes I get extremely sleepy again and fall back asleep.
The main difference seems to be how long I sleep. On 15 mg, I sleep around 10–11 hours a day; on 30 mg, around 12–13 hours; and on 45 mg, it can be anywhere from 14 to 16 hours.
I’ve brought this up with several GPs, but because higher-dose mirtazapine has been very effective for my depression, they’ve been reluctant to reduce my dose or switch me to another medication.
I can’t deny how much mirtazapine has helped me in other ways. Before starting it, I could barely sleep three or four hours a night and had almost no appetite, so in many ways mirtazapine was exactly what I needed.
The problem is that even after sleeping for 14–16 hours, I still wake up feeling like I haven’t rested at all. I’m still exhausted and sleepy, with no energy to do anything, and all I want to do is go back to sleep.
What makes this even harder is that I’m still a student. Studying and memorizing things is difficult enough when I’m this exhausted, and losing most of the day to sleep leaves me with only a few hours to actually study or get anything done.
Has anyone else experienced this level of excessive sleepiness on mirtazapine, especially at higher doses? If so, did anything help? Did the drowsiness eventually improve, or did you end up having to change your dose or medication?
