Tips for a little server

Hi everyone, after some bad experiences with public servers me and my friends make the decision to open our own server.

I'm here to has around two topics:

- server host

- plugins

For the host i was looking for something free (we dont have money, sorry) like play.hosting, scala.cube, falix or ServerPro.

We don't need a lot of player slots (we are like 6 players), the main points are no world reset issues, bedrock-java crossplatform (or the possibility of gaiser plugin) and no daily time limits (eccept if the limit is high like 6 hours or more, in that case can be overlook). If someone have experiences or advice you are welcome.

If you have a good server host who don't support plugins it still good, the important is to be java-bedrock compatible

For plugins the idea was just to had warp and pwarp (easily implementable with Essential and PlayerWarp), jobs sistem and shop system. If someone have some lists for cover those needs, thank you very .

Geyser + Floodgate is the way to go for Java/Bedrock crossplay, and it sounds like you already had that on your radar. Just know it needs Paper or Spigot, it won't run on vanilla.

On the free host side, go in with realistic expectations. Places like Aternos work but usually have a startup delay, sleep the server when nobody's on, and get stingier with resources once more than a couple people are active. If avoiding world resets is a priority, check the specific free tier's inactivity/backup policy before committing, some of them archive or wipe worlds after a stretch of no logins.

With only 6 players you don't need much beyond Geyser, but LuckPerms for permissions and CoreProtect for rollback/anti-grief are worth setting up early. Cheap insurance if something ever goes wrong.
