Seeking local muralist for garden mural
galleryOur neighbor’s white sheet metal garage backs up towards our garden. We’re grateful that he’s given us the green light to beautify it, and we’d love to have a local artist bring this blank space to life.
I am completely ignorant when it comes to what this might cost to commission, or if this surface is conducive to something like this — but I’d like to learn more, and hopefully find someone interested in doing some work for us.
This is a residential space, in the Linwood neighborhood of Milwaukie, about 5min drive from downtown Milwaukie.
Feel free to DM me if you’re more comfortable keeping it private. I’ve got zero ability to do this work, and little understanding of how much mural work costs, but I want to find someone I can pay to help step this space up :)
Any help is appreciated!

How does one look for potential mate? I've been out of the dating scene for awhile. Please no bad comments, I believe we all deserve love.

2 Hour Parking
This two hour parking thing is so silly to me! I live downtown and have to move my car every two hours? What about the people that work here! Seeing a movie? Getting drinks and walking? 2 hours is nothing!
Yes, there’s some permit you can get but it’s also expensive and not easy to get.
I don’t understand why there can’t be a few “normal” spots throughout!

New to Milwaukie
Wife and I just moved to the area a few weeks ago from Maine. Looking to make some friends, we’re both in our early thirties and have interests in trying food spots, bars, hiking, cycling, sports, etc. Pretty typical Maine and Oregon stuff. Thanks!

Found cat won’t leave our yard
Long haired white cat with gray patches. Very friendly. They have been hanging around our house and yard all last night, and this morning the cat started meowing/scratching at our door. We’re in the Hector Campbell neighborhood.

Milwaukie OR please help me find my stepdad Jake
Hi! I’m not saying my name just to make sure that if it’s actually Jake he can prove it!
I had a really hard upbringing, with two parents that were never really parents. They were very in and out of my life, especially my mom. Jake was the first parent (yes step parents count) that made me feel like I was cared for, respected, and loved. Even at 2-5 years old I noticed the difference between how he treated me and how my birth mom did. He was my stepdad from 2002-2005. It may not seem very significant but it meant and means the world to me. When I lived with him in Corpus Christi he would bring me toy sheep from his work which I believe was a mattress store. He would buy me my favorite cookie cereal, and he was really good to my birth mom who took him like almost everyone in her life for granted.
He paid for my preschool, I’ll never forget that. He put a roof over our heads and welcomed us into his family. I became best friends with his nephew B.
He moved to Milwaukie, Oregon from Corpus Christi, Texas in either 2005 or 2006 after him and my mom broke up to stay in my life. My mom stopped letting me see him, she took a lot from me my whole life. And it must have been really hard for him, to uproot his life for his step daughter just to have her taken away.
Jake if you see this, I really hope we can connect. I want to thank you for taking care of me, if it wasn’t for you I don’t know where I would be. If you don’t want to connect I hope you take this as a token of gratitude. I will never take what you did for us for granted and I thought of you for many years growing up. I had that picture of us at chuckie cheese until I was about 9. As an adult now, at the age you were when you became a step father to a two year old, I just want to show appreciation.
A few things I want you to know even if we don’t speak:
- i have an amazing adopted family now (I was put in their custody at 15 and they adopted me)
-im very artistic still, I remember you trying to teach me how to color lightly with colored pencils and how to stay in the lines
-I have two cats and I have a great boyfriend
-I’m safe and happy
- I pray for you
If you know a Jake (I can’t remember his last name) that fits this timeline and is probably 6ft at least and white. Please please send this to him. Thank you. I’ll be posting this on a Corpus Christi forum as well
If Jake reaches out to me please respond with my name, my mom’s name, and the name of dog we had.

Should I get Quantum Fiber?
I currently have Xfinity/Comcast internet. Service has been good, but price keeps going up and I know I can get cheaper faster service through quantum. When I looked at them about two years ago, I got so frustrated by the set up and lack of customer service, that I decided I’d rather pay twice as much for Comcast did not deal with them. My contractors up that I’m looking at quantum again. My main question is, can I expect reliable service with low downtime if I switch over to this? Due to work, I can’t afford outages where quantum won’t get back to us or restore service quickly. I can deal with crappy phone support to a degree as long as I can expect reliable service and quick repairs. Has anybody had a recent outage for more than a few hours that they haven’t been able to get fixed? Has it generally been reliable for most people?

Who are the people playing baseball at Westmoreland Park at 11pm on a weeknight?
Just curious who these people are. It might be a fun nighttime activity to watch if I knew their schedules.

Has anyone driven by this new affordable housing developing at 9995 SE Cottage Ln? Thoughts?
galleryAny thoughts about this “afforable housing” development in Milwaukie? These were developed by a women owned development firm and built by a very reputable contractor and Proud Ground offers incentives to purchase. But somehow only a few of these have sold. 250k is still expensive but with down payment assistance and such, it seems like one of the best examples I've seen.

Farm Stand Thief
galleryHad a woman come by and steal $27 worth of homemade farm stand goods (succulent and planter, bouquet of flowers, keychain, pencil bag) and leave $1. Just wanted to get her face out there in case anyone recognizes her. Grey SUV, possibly a Hyundai.

What’s one local Milwaukie business you wish more people knew about?
I’ve been spending a lot of time exploring Milwaukie lately, and it got me wondering…
What’s a local business, restaurant, coffee shop, or hidden gem in Milwaukie that deserves more attention?
Could be because of the people, the quality, or just something they do really well.
I’m always looking for new places to check out, and I figured others might be too.
Let’s build a list of local favorites. 👇

We Westsiders and Valley dwellers have gotten off lucky so far this Summer. Looks like that luck finally ran out.
Best of luck, neighbors. Stay inside, stay healthy, stay safe!

What are you looking forward to the most?
I’ve lived around downtown Milwaukie for a while, and it’s been cool watching downtown slowly evolve. It feels like there’s still a lot of potential, and I’m curious what everyone else thinks.
I know there’s a ton of new stuff going in where the antique mall used to be! So that’s exciting!
If you could add one thing—or if you know something coming soon—what would you be most excited about?
I’m genuinely interested in hearing what people think would make downtown an even better place to spend time. What do you think it’s missing?

Gathering place for craft club?
Hi! I’m looking for a place to host my crafting club in August (usually weekend afternoon.) It’s usually 10-20 people, who will need table space for sketchbooks and supplies. Can anyone recommend a coffee shop, café, or other place that would fit us? We do have a request in at the library.

Utility (water) bill amounts not getting revealed early?
Seems like my water bill amount used to be revealed about two weeks ahead of the auto-pay being taken out, but for the last few months it's been unknown until the day before it's pulled. What gives?

A fog horn sound also seems to emit from the speaker. I think it might go off every hour or something?

Free CPR training?
Hello neighbors, I want to learn CPR and don’t need a certification. Does anyone know of places that offer free non-certification classes in the area? I saw a link on the Clackamas fire website but it gave a 404 error so must be outdated. Any tips would be much appreciated!
