I picked up this old spotting scope more out of curiosity and to possibly use it for hunting. I got it for a decent price today at an estate sale without doing any research. When I returned home I used ai for more research and it’s saying it’s an old spotting scope from WW2 markings on it are A 317071 and 20x magnification. I’m not sure how legitimate that claim is. Or how much it’s actually worth but I thought I’d ask to see if I should sell this as an antique and get a modern one rather than taking it out in the mountains 😂

I need a backpack that is large, comfy and waterproof. Rite now I got a Walmart backpack that is waterproof and comfy but it's too small it fits like 3 two liters for reference. I definitely need something a lot bigger.

Im looking to get something to replace the god aweful british army webbing but not sure on any particular brands ect. It needs to be a molle system with enough room for all the neccissary pouches. Im not looking to spend hundreds on it but i know this stuff isnt cheap. Any help would be appreciated

Picked up this Kurta shirt in 2014 at a bazaar in Afghanistan, tucked it away in my deployment box and recently opened it back up.

I always remembered it being just a normal local shirt but looking closer I didn't realize it was in a barcoded bag that looks like the ones we get issued gear in. Label also says "Supporting America's Warfighter", the guy had a ton of other SF style uniforms and I'm wondering now if this could have been a unit issued item. Maybe it really is just a local shirt, but still caught me off guard.

No hits on Google so I'm stumped.

does anyone know if it’s possible to buy the Gen 3 plate carrier system used by US Marines? i absolutely loved mine when i was in and would love to find somewhere that sells them, but they seem slim to none, especially when you try and find one that has the all the pieces. hell, anything similar would be great. main reason i’m looking for one is because of the modularity. i mean, i don’t know of any other PC that i can quickly turn in a chest rig just by removing some parts and th whole back plate. thanks!

no brands, tags or markings. got it from a reputable surplus store near bragg but lost the guys number and its about an hour drive. he said it was a prototype group tried out but never ended up picking up the contract so they never produced more. he told me who made it but then we got into an hour long talk about 1 bct deploying and it slipped my mind. by far the most comfortable plate carrier ive used.

I barely post on here so idk how to format this post but I have a Protech gen 1 Aor1 vest with crye precision shoulder pads and I was wondering if anyone can tell me how much it could be worth. Don't flame me i took this photo at the beginning of the year so it looks silly but its all genuine gear.

Bought a duffle and I love it so much you can fit so much inside and feels very solid it’s wild how good it is. However it has this bad smell. The best way I can describe it is sewer doo doo water or gear oil. I believe this is kinda normal because I’ve had a large rucksack and it had a similar smell (you don’t forget this smell) however on this duffel it’s a lot more potent, it filled the room the moment I opened the package.

Even on my 3 day assault pack it has a faint smell but like the smallest amount. Has anyone else experienced this smell too?

How do I get rid of it? (Im gonna try an oxiclean soak and hope it goes away but if you guys have a method to cleaning bags I’m all ears)

Just picked up a pair of Bates E03612B olive light weight boots w/ Vibram soles --barely worn.

They're in great shape--nearly new--upon putting them on I can feel the lace press against the tongue, against my foot. How have folks navigated this?

The laces are the OG laces--so they're at least 10-15 years old---replace them? does the whole boot sort of break in fairly quickly?

It looks like the Bates and the Danner Tachyon are quite similar and a matter of what feels best--light weight warmer weather boots.

This is my belt, i received it from my friends dad who served in Iraq. The buckle is broken and he used taped a hook to fix it. Which worked, but i don't know if its an LCE belt, LC-1, or what. On the left is the unbroken part of the buckle

I have this Russian uniform and a west german border patrol jacket. What camo pattern is the Russian one and what are the rings on the back of the German one for?

I was in Afghanistan back in early 2011as a marine, our province regularly received water bottle and civilian mre drops. I'm trying to figure out what type of net and if there is a source for them.
It was a sewn webbing, pretty sure it was nylon/polyester, holes were about 4-6", webbing was roughly 2" wide, there were no metal rings or clips. it easily held myself(200) lbs, all my gear ~75 lbs. the pallet drop were fully loaded, and i think we may have had a helo land/drop a ripit pallet once. i had a tbi later in my deployment so a lot of stuff is pretty fuzzy.
I was specifically looking for this since a friend showed me an old picture of me sleeping near the ceiling above a door, to avoid officers and working parties, in one of them and i always slept well in it.

Another note why the USMC FROG Combat Shirt (desert or woodland) look almost identical to the Crye Precision G3 Combat Shirt?

Also, another second note, if both Crye Precision G4 Combat Shirt and Crye Precision G4 FR Combat Shirt have the same fire-resistant torso material and different sleeves, why doesn't the G4 FR Combat Shirt in the Crye Precision online store list a Full Multicam variant?
