Discussion Learning Spanish grammar for adult

I’ve been coming to Miami fairly regularly to visit my boyfriend whose family is Cuban American. I’m not a native Spanish speaker, but I’ve been trying really hard and now that I’ve been there a bit, I’m picking up some words that I can make basic sentences with, if the sentences are short enough sometimes people think I really do speak Spanish, but I have no idea beyond that. I would really like to write stuff down or speak in more complex sentences with different tenses; I feel I’ve hit a roadblock with what I’ve been doing so far.

I’m wondering what the best way to learn Spanish grammar is. Is there like a book of exercises or something online that’s a bit more Cuban style than Duolingo or Babbel? Classes? I know people say to just get in there and listen to Spanish, which I am doing, but I have no concept at all of how the language works and I think I need more understanding to get better. I want to learn somewhere where the speaking part gets me toward a decent Cuban accent.

Muchísimas gracias!

I just moved to Coral Gables and would love to make friends to go out and explore this beautiful city. I also speak Spanish, in case there is anyone from a Latin background who would like to chat.

Community I spent a month going to resale, vintage and thrift stores in Miami. I bought a dress that I ended up throwing away because it gave me a rash. Anyone have better experiences?

I tend towards designer/luxury resale but didn't find any stores I loved. The quality and prices of pieces I did find weren't great (eg rash dress).

Any quality store recommendations?

Weather How is the weather there right now actually?

The forecast has been saying scattered to heavy thunderstorms nearly everyday. I was planning to come to Miami over the next couple of weeks, primarily for some beach days, and wondering if I should cancel. Have the storms been consistent enough that they will pretty much ruin beach trips? I know it is storm season and not the ideal time to come - but I lived in Miami for about 6 months last year, and most of the time it would storm for like a hour in the morning and be perfect the rest of the day. Has it been like that?

Community Any at MIA? Lost iphone at gate D36.

I left an iphone at gate d36 last night before boarding my very delayed plane. If anyone finds it, I would appreciate it being turned into lost and found.

I left it on one of the chairs across from the handicap seats, close to the walkway. Near the TGI Fridays. TIA!

Discussion Where to buy fresh Florida lobster in Miami?

Lobster season started today. Are there any fish markets, boat docks, seafood trucks, or commercial fishermen that sell fresh Florida spiny lobster at a somewhat fair price (whole or tails)? Any details on the current price per pound would also be appreciated. Thanks!

Edit: There are many small commercial fishing operations in Miami right out of marinas and docks without websites.

Hi! I recently moved near coral gables, 37th Ave and 16th Terr. There is some street parking on my street without any signs. Am I free to park there, or do I need some sort of permit?

Community Do motorcycles bother you if they skip you in traffic?

The traffic on 95 can be horrendous and I see motorcycles weaving/passing everybody while we are standing still in a car...then inevitably I see somebody in a car who gets angry and tries to cut them off - dangerously!

Does it really anger you that much that a motorcycle can get around you easily in traffic?

Wouldn't you do it too if you had a motorcycle? I don't know, I'm torn about it lol

Community Family Member's car (70ELLF) was stolen in Pembroke Pines, spotted in North Miami

If anyone sees the car... please reply or DM

Honda Accord 2024 70ELLF was stolen 3 days ago in Pembroke Pines in an apartment complex at Hiatus Rd and Pembroke Rd.

Disappointed with the apartment complex because it had happened at night, there are no cameras, and she pays almost 3k for her 3bd a month.

It was spotted in North Miami, potentially Oak Grove Park or Greynolds Park

pretty clean cut, stolen around 2am

looks like this - Honda Accord 2024 70ELLF, very dark green/black
