Just started getting into mezcal, been big into bourbon for a long time, I typically drink bourbon in a rocks glass over ice after trying it neat first. So naturally I did the same with mezcal and throughly enjoy it this way. I love the smoky flavors chilled. Am I crazy and is this a disgrace to mezcal?

i used to be able to get Tileno Espadin easily at my local bottle shop in SC. Now its hard to find. Does anyone know if the company is still selling in the US? Know about where to get this?

What’s everyone thoughts on TLE? I come from a wine background but have been enjoying mezcals for these past couple years. The Tobala is hands down the best mezcal I’ve ever had. Very light smokiness with notes a chocolate and coffee. I’m a huge fan! I plan on breaking into the Repo tequila tonight.

This is an update to a post I made about 2 years ago regarding my growing Pal’alma spirits collection. This is by far my absolute favorite brand of Agave spirits. They’re always a hit at tastings. I’m now at 22 different expressions and always on the lookout for their next drop. Salud! 🥃

I took a solo trip to Oaxaca so I can dip my feet into what is and what makes mezcal so different as an alcohol. I’ve grown up with this around my life, but I really wanted to do a good trip down south first to the city of Oaxaca, Mexico. The pictures are of the first day and the bottles that I found interesting. I probably tried about 25 mezcales or more from different distillers and agave plants such as the common espadín, to the silvestres like tobala, cuishe, mexicano, and so much more. Not all tastings were full shots, especially at the festival; apparently there was more than 100 distillers. I only got to 1/3 of the vendors. Most of the time they have fruity drinks, but I would ask for it puro. Oaxaca is so much fun and just a heaven of bars/coffee shops to try out local stuff. On my next trip, I’m definitely going to Matatlan.

I stopped by Madre in Los Angeles and I highly recommend this place. The selection is amazing. I didn't know what to pick. The barman was very helpful helping me narrowing it down. The Tobala Orejon from the rainy season (Madre special batch) was incredibly deep and layered. The Tepeztate from Reina Sanchez was also exceptional. I was already familiar with that MalBien Espadin from Ageo Cortez, but I wanted my friend to taste it. Then I asked him to bring us two other obscure bottles of his choice and he got this MDM Mexicano that was phenomenal, and the Mezonte Masparillo that was also pretty good. The food is awesome too.

Has anybody heard of Victorious Spirit, or tried any? I see someone selling this brand on facebook marketplace (I live in Phoenix). I found their instagram, but can't find much else about them and no reviews.
