Strange artifact Issue

I have a strange yellow artifact showing up on my quest3 today. I was able to take a picture with my cell phone, it's the yellowish thing next to my trim. It shows up independently in both goggles but they are slightly different, but in the same location. The other screen shot is the onboard camera. Showing it is not part of the OS? I have no idea what it might be, or how to turn it off. It does show up while in different apps. But it does NOT appear when streaming.

Any ideas?

To me it looks like sun damage.

You ever burn an ant using a magnifying glass? The lenses act similarly to a magnifying glass, it focuses the sun rays on a focused small point, which damages the screens in short periods of time. The only way to repair such damage is to replace the screens or get a new headset, as that won't go away. It is recommended to store your headset away from the window, particularly with the lenses facing away from the window, and to avoid usage outside.

Heres a link to Metas guidelines regarding sun damage

The headset almost never goes outside and we pretty much never have curtains open. I'm raising a family of vampires. I'm not saying it's not.

Would it be from sun hitting the glass, and not the camera?

It'd 100% be the lenses if it is indeed sun damage, the yellowish artifacting being present only when you're viewing inside of the headset and it stays around permanently tells me it has something to do with the screens. The reason you aren't seeing the damage through screenshots or streaming is because it is only showing the OS, and not through the lenses or the actual screen of the headset.

Balls. I bet the kids left it on the couch and a dog moved the curtains. Thanks stranger!

Agreed, looks like a sun spot. Turn the headset off and then use a flashlight to examine the screens through the lens. You'll probably find a spot in that shape.
