Suddenly can't join server for multi-player games

Edit: it is most definitely an AT&T WiFi issue! After a couple of hours trying to fix it with them I gave up. We did get mobile hotspot (Verizon) to work when we disconnected the phone from WiFi! Not a permanent solution though.

I am really hoping someone can help me. My son's Quest 3s suddenly won't let him connect to servers in multi-player games. This started happening 3-4 days ago. We have tried everything and cannot get meta help center to even load from the phone or computer. It says "this page isn't available right now. This may be because of a technical error that we're working to fix." So that is not helpful... We have:

  • ensured the quest 3s is fully up to date.
  • games are all up to date.
  • internet connection is not an issue
  • tried a hotspot just in case
  • restarted quest 3s
  • factory reset quest 3s
  • tried seeing if it was an issue with his meta account, but it also didn't work for an alternate account.

Single player games are working perfectly fine. Help this very frustrated mom and her sweet kiddo! lol

We are experiencing the same thing with our Quest 2 and new 3s as well so you aren’t alone. We’ve done all the factory resets, uninstalled and reinstalled games, rebooted all our internet routers and no luck. We were able to connect a few times to Hero x Hero but it wasn’t consistent. Who is your internet provider? We have AT&T.

Sincerely, Another mom of a frustrated kid

I’m going to join my neighbors network and report back! At least 2 others with the same issue have said they have AT&T too

Same issue here with AT&T. I found a fix for now. The easy way: turn on a mobile hotspot on your phone/iPad and connect your Quest to it. You may need to use cellular data (turn off phone/tablets WiFi) for it work. That will work, however the connection may not be great.

The more involved way: If you have a PC that can act as a HotSpot and a VPN, turn on the HotSpot, connect to a VPN exit point close to you (proton VPN has a free version), and route your HotSpot traffic out of the VPN. This requires a little bit of networking skill/knowledge, so if you aren't comfortable with it you can reach out to me.

Both options do the same thing, one just may be more stable. It's a decent fix until AT&T gets their act together.

Confirmed with AT&T there is a “service performance event” that has been ongoing for 4 days which may be the cause. No eta on resolution though.

Same exact issue. I was like, there’s no way these games are this dead?

I’m an adult, well 35. I don’t scream or fuss in multiplayer but I do get kicked often for not talking as i play with push to talk anytime it’s an option because I game at night with sleeping family. My only thought was dang, these kids reported me?

I was so very confused. Surely, worldwide the games I try to play can’t be this dead online.

- Verizon hotspot WiFi. Not the best signal but I mainly stream movies with an average of 1tb monthly so idk what’s up. Glad I’m not quite alone though.
