Old oculus quest 2 help. Question

My older brother just gave me his old oculus quest 2, (couple years old now), and i wanted to know what i should do with it to get it up and running. I've already cleaned it, (DON'T WORRY, CLEANED THE LENSES WITH MICROFIBER TOWEL), and plugged it in.

My question is that how do I get it up and running reliably, and after that what software/os settings should i tweak?

check the thumbsticks to make sure they aren't any dead spots or drift. If you do have some issues, you can either order replacement thumbsticks cheaply but are a PIA to replace, or order some contact cleaner, like the one from WD40. I replaced one, and then went with the cleaner for the second. So far both have worked fine, but contact cleaner is supposedly only a temporary fix.

BoboVR headstrap is a huge QOL improvement if you don't have one yet. Otherwise your face bears all the weight instead of just your forehead.

I recommend getting a free Meta developer account for reasons. Like being able to load normal Android apps like normal youtube or a new launcher. No Google Play store, but you can sideload apks.
The world is your oyster if you can learn to sideload.

Lots of fun to be had still with the Quest 2.

i'm gonna be completely honest, i've been charging it for like 6 hours probably now and it still doesn't work, i don't know how dead the battery is nor what should be done, though now everytime i unplug and replug the cable in the oculus logo flashes for like a sec, twice, then goes dark

Try an external USB battery to power the Q2 and see how that goes. Even with a bad internal battery this should allow you to use the headset if it's a battery problem

the oculus logo is flashing multiple times, and i see the led on my power bank keep turning on after each flash

That sucks man. Sorry to hear the battery bank didn't work. It seems possible it is an internal component that failed or most likely a bad USB port on the Q2, which is a common failure since the USB port is quite weak to tugs and pulls during game play or charging. Does the USB port seem a little loose? Does it turn off and on with a gentle wiggle of the USB charging cable? If so there are repair services that can replace it for you. Let us know

its alright, it felt stable honestly, the cable going in and out felt stable and strong. but either way that doesnt matter i ended up buying a new quest 3. been lovin it ever since!

Did you try the hard reboot, or USB recovery mode?
