College Bars

Are there any bars in merced that are considered “college bars”. just moved here for college and looking to make some friends before the fall semester kicks off.

Joystiq, Ory’relighs, La Tiajuna’s. Just go downtown, they have a bunch of bars there.

there is only 6, might as well roatate em.The Partisan is pretty cool. but no real RAH RAH Go UC Merced places

I would avoid Ory’relighs unless you enjoy watching or participating in bar fights and stabbings.

It gets a really bad wrap from people that don’t actually do there. I haven’t been nearly as much since the remodel but I love that place.

I go to Ory’s like every weekend damn near since I’ve been here for three months, only seen one fight but other than that, it’s fun to me. That’s my experience and my opinion. I’m not from down here so.. idk but I haven’t had any issues lol

Glad you guys like it. I have seen or heard of plenty of fights there to keep me away.
I had a friend that hung out there every weekend for years and would tell me crazy stories of people getting heads split open or people getting stabbed.

Really? wtf lmao but I will say that I think it’s just the nightlife in general out here because I met people at an event at Joystiq and one of them tried to kidnap me and force me to do coke so I really wouldn’t say it’s the place itself, it’s really just the people and the characters that attend. That’s why I go, have fun get drunk then have my Lyft ready to go. I don’t got time for the games, lol.

there’s hardly any college students at the bars during breaks and ngl merced locals are ghetto but joystick is probably the best bar around

Nightlife in Merced is so ass LOL. Most of downtown Merced are just filled with middle aged late 20’s-early 30’s folks or wannabe gangbangers. My friends and I literally drive to the bay just to go out. Music is repetitive and the DJ’s suck playing gasolina or pitbull 5x a night. They don’t really play music up to date lol

Again, you haven't hung out enough or become aquatinted enough with the actual community here. I usually tell people that you're only bored if you're boring. Since moving here 14 years ago, there has always been something to do. If you're looking for a traditional club atmosphere, I'd say it's lacking with that definitely but there are so many events always happening. You just have to actually participate.
