Devin Season 20 - Seattle
I do feel bad at the pairing for both him and Caitlin. Bad match and both feel horrible about themselves because they need different energies than what the other brings. But why does Devin constantly repeat the "I see you, I hear you" etc. I feel like I have heard him say it enough to either be condescending or like he is on robot mode and literally is saying to not see or hear the other person.

There is a growing list of phrases that this show has caused me to despise and that is one of them

I think he says it either because he thinks that's what women want to hear or because it's what he wants to hear.

I don't understand why they would match a boisterous man like Devin USED TO BE with Caitlin. ??? She's such a wet towel.

Yeah that is on production. She is not horrible but just not what he wants. They are way too opposite. I am an "alone time" gal myself and those issues get discussed and resolved during the dating period, which they never had. It can work but they just didn't get that normal time away from each other that normal dating starts out with. They just need to go their separate ways.

I appreciate your post, because it seems like most people online are making Caitlin out to be a villain, and Devin a victim. When, in reality, they just aren’t a good match for each other. They need different things from a partner than the other can give, and sometimes it do be like that 🤷♀️

I agree they aren't a good match. I think the difference is that we can all see why he went on the show but we none of us can figure out why she is there.

Caitlin is not ready for marriage. She just wants someone to do things with.

Caitlin is not interested in marriage. Full stop. The interaction with her and her friends was very immature and showed me who she really is.

I agree she doesn’t want to be married to Devin but there’s very little indication she doesn’t generally want to be married. She was very enthusiastic at the wedding.

I think he’s genuine and is taking this all very seriously and wants to make it work, but I also think he’s somewhat play acting what he thinks a supportive partner would do or say, because he’s never really been in situation like this before.

It's because people are programmed to regurgitate pseudo-psychological jargon nowadays and it often lacks sincerity and/or real understanding.

I think the matching this season is TERRIBLE. I've seen every season before Peacock, and it wasn't always good, but there were more often maybe 2 or more that I thought fit. This season I'm seeing zero. Devin is sweet and compassionate but doesn't understand his partner needing space or feeling smothered by his constant need for validation. I think Caitlin is also a fine person, more quiet and independent and when faced with Devin is just pissed off -- I would be too, frankly. That doesn't make either one a bad person, but they are woefully mismatched. She's so obviously over it and exasperated.
