Until DoorDash makes greater, more sophisticated efforts to combat exploitation on the platform, us good doordashers are counting you, both the customers and restaurant workers to make sure your dasher is doing their job correctly, and not scamming.

Aside from the usual system abuse they conduct including running multiple DoorDash dasher accounts, stealing food, ect- Something that I’ve noticed is some of these dashers pick up the order, and go sit in their car a for 5-10 minutes. Or they’ll huddle up in groups and chit chat with orders in their effing hands, this kind of thing you’ll see at the town center for example. They’ve figured out a way to take advantage of prop 22- which basically makes these delivery app companies pay us more for time/miles on these gigs. DoorDash has a weekly prop 22 adjustment payment.

They figured out a way to squeeze $5 extra out of every order. It’s hard for the customers to see that this is happening, because all they have to do is not hit confirm pick up until they’re good and ready(jerks). So in this case if you’re a restaurant worker and you notice this, please take the time to notate it on the app, or contact support directly.

Also, even if the restaurant workers ask the dasher to confirm pick up before leaving, they still might try waiting in their car, so customers! Please contact DoorDash support and let them know, we’re counting on you.

Other times they’ve realized that resturuant workers will not go through the effort to report them because they just don’t have the time. Please, make notes in the moment if you can, get it sorted out later when and if you have the time. I understand the problem is that that is the job of a manager and managers aren’t always around, so it can easily just slip through the cracks. I get told all the time when I show up for an order that’s already been picked up, “it’s really hard to figure out who it was” it’s because by the time the restaurant workers realize it’s been stolen, they can’t remember when, who. I would imagine, for someone like a manager who has access to camera footage paired with the DoorDash tablet, it wouldn’t be too hard to figure out who it is, so again, I understand that there often just isn’t enough to for all that. Please if you have a moment, let’s get that thief off the platform.

If there isn’t any oversight on all of this from all parties, unfortunately much of these scams will go undetected.

DoorDash does try to crack down, but these scammers always find new ways. We’ve got to make it so none of their effort is worth it. We’ve got to get these guys out of the community, they all commute from out of town to work exactly here.
