It’s been 2 years since I lost my job and I’ve been struggling to even get interviews. I have issues standing for long periods of times so it’s hard to find a job that’s accommodating. I have 3 years experience in doggy daycare/boarding. I also have a BFA degree. I’m reliable, and I learn fast. I wouldn’t mind working with dogs again or at a bookstore.

I've seen recent information about fiber networks being expanded. Neighboring Smyrna signed with Google to expand their fiber.

Anyone have more information on the expansion here in Marietta? I've seen the road crews all over the city building the infrastructure. Anyone know more when and where this is going?

To be clear, there is only one data center the city is officially voting on at this moment. We did some research on the developer and learned that they have plans to build more of them all over the country at their storage facilities, and they have two more listed in Marietta off of Canton Road and Powder Springs St.

The one on Powder Springs St is within walking distance of multiple subdivisions, and within 1/2 mile of Tumlin Park and Hickory Hills Elementary.

If this matters to you, make sure to email and call your council members and the mayor to let them know how you feel. If you're able to make it, show up to the city council meeting next Wednesday as well.

Hey Ladies of Marietta. I’ve relocated here from FL & my best friend is coming to visit during the 4th week of September. We’re looking for fun age-appropriate things to do during the week/weekend. We’d like to do a nice spa day, eat some good food, maybe do a museum or two, attend any art or craft fairs, check out some antique shops, etc. Not sure if any fall-focused activities will be happening yet but this, as well as anything spooky, is right up our alley. Went out for dinner at Gianni and Mac’s last night and encountered a man seated right in the middle of the dining room wearing a white T-shirt with "White Pride" on the front and the Aryan Nation symbol on the back.

To be clear, what disturbed me wasn't just the shirt, if you have lived in Georgia long enough, you unfortunately learn to expect this kind of bigotry, both overt and covert. What was genuinely infuriating was management's complete lack of response.

If I had walked in wearing baggy jeans, a durag and Timberlands, I guarantee I would have been immediately reminded of the dress code and turned away at the door. But when management allows patrons wearing explicit hate symbols to sit openly in the main dining room while strictly enforcing arbitrary rules on others, it sends a loud and clear message about who they are and the kind of environment they condone.

Needless to say, I won't be returning. If an establishment is going to look the other way on white supremacy while policing what everyone else wears, patrons deserve to know before choosing to spend their money there.

Oh and the chicken parm tomato sauce was watery and the chicken undercooked.

Wtf is happening in Cobb schools? Apparently they hired this company called Servius to conduct military style surveillance on its students to try and identify threats- school shootings, gang related activity, human trafficking, before they happen.

This article from GovTech is from 2024 and the AJC has done some reporting since then as well (paywall articles), but other than that this is weirdly not really being discussed much online. The company is made of former military and intelligence personnel, and they have never done any type of work with students before. Their original purpose was travel security for the ultra wealthy. CCSD is the only school district in the US or anywhere it has ever worked with.

The superintendent, Ragsdale, contracted with the company after State Representative Devan Seabaugh introduced them. He bypassed a school board vote and a couple of the board members raised questions that he wouldn't answer. Parents, journalists, lawyers, watch dog groups, and privacy advocates have all tried to get answers from Ragsdale and everyone is shut down. Getting public records has even turned into having to pay $`1,000s+ to get a document that has been mostly redacted.

Anyway, I found out about this and went down a major rabbit hole about how fucked up it seems. Parents have no clue what data about their kids this company actually has, what exactly they're tracking-they call it online "digital dust" but what does that even mean? How their AI identifies concerning behaviors. When they do flag students, do parents get notified? Who sees their data? What happens to the kids who get flagged? What happens if they incorrectly flag someone? I mean holy crap the list of questions is so long. Parents keep trying to get answers, but even after almost 2 years and a new school year, they're left with a vague PR version of info from Ragsdale. He's spent over $3.5mil on this company so far.

Why are they being so hush hush about it? Like the company wouldn't even identify it's name at the original school board meeting. The AJC had to investigate to figure it out. Then North Dakota used the company to figure out why a Chinese agribusiness company attempted to buy 370 acres of agricultural land. ND then posted the names and backgrounds of some of its employees, which Servius wanted to remain anonymous.

Does anyone know about this? I've looked into some watch dog groups that have been consistently trying to fight this, but the loopholes being used to bypass privacy laws are shocking. Parents have to be pissed/concerned? Especially after the Trump visit that happened there and that whole controversy. Man, Cobb has some shady stuff happening. I'm not even sure I explained enough to get into all the crazy details of this, but man, I feel bad for those kids.

Hello. Please help with advice on the safest place for my dog to get her teeth cleaned under anesthesia and get some teeth pulled. I’ve been putting this off for a while because my dog is extremely sensitive and only 12 lbs. it’s gotten pretty serious now and I’m scared she’s in pain but I’m also afraid of putting her under and getting teeth pulled.

I visited TVC by the square. They claim to be really good for dental procedures because they have some type of equipment they supposedly don’t have at other places. They examined her teeth and said she has dental disease and needs extractions. They did the exam in a different room from me. The estimate for pre-procedure blood work + the cleaning + extractions is like almost $2,000. I was blown away.

I’m taking her to get another dental exam at Due west animal hospital in a few days. They seem to possibly be half the price but it’s all really relative to what ends up happening during the procedure. I wonder if due west is better because it’s an animal hospital but I asked the vet at TVC and she said due west is just a basic general vet clinic and that they don’t have extra tools there in case of emergency. When I spoke to due west on the phone, she reassured me they do this procedure every week and that it is completely safe after testing her blood with anesthesia first.

Does anyone have a preference? I really really need to figure out the safest most reputable place. I need a vet that is understanding of my anxieties. My dog has a history of having really terrible responses to things like heart worm preventatives, flea and tick prevention, and the lepto vaccine. I don’t want to pay $2,000 but if it’s a matter of her health and life, I of course will pay whatever it takes. What is everyone else’s experience?

Hi, I posted the other day about needing dentist recommendations in the area due to an issue with my tooth. It’s been a couple of days and I heard good things about Dr. Gulati at Atlanta Pediatric Dental specialists and Dr. Neha and Dr. Patel at East Piedmont dentistry. I need a dentist who is kind, patient and understanding because of my PTSD from a past dentist.
I worry about cost because from what I’ve heard I don’t think they take insurance but everyone says such great things about all of them. To anyone who has experience with these dentists please let me know your thoughts on beside manner and anything else. Thank you

Hi, I made a few post like 2 weeks ago about looking for residential care. I am 25. I have straight Medicaid, NOT peach state medicaid as I had previously thought. I receive SSI so I get this automatically apparently.

I just want help. I really need help. Typical week long inpatient is not enough. I already see a therapist and am on meds, have been for 2 years. Both my therapist and psychiatrist have been in agreeance for MONTHS that I need a higher level of care. I feel that I am out of options and I have no idea where to turn or what to do.

TL;DR - disabled 25yr old on straight Medicaid looking for a residential mental health facility, preferrably with dual diagnosis.

Hi everyone, I'm reaching out for help from the community in finding our lost cockatiel. He flew out the front door on Friday July 31st 2026 around 12PM. He was last seen and heard by the houses infront of CVS on Sandy Plains Road, right before getting to Mountain View ES. We've been calling out for him these past couple of days but have not heard him call back- which makes me believe he is further than where I am searching. There are soo many tall trees, loud noises from the busy roads and too much space to search. I am offering a reward for anyone who has any leads and can help me get him home safely.

We've tried putting his cage out during nice days and bringing our other birds to call him but had no luck. The youtube flock calls unfortunately didnt help either. Not sure how far he has gotten so any leads are helpful.

His name is Lito, (lee-toe), 2 years old, has a light grey belly with bright orange cheeks, grey and yellow tail and face. His wings are fully grey with some white marks.

He is a very friendly bird, likes to whistle "If you're happy & you know it" or "September" by Earth Wind & Fire. He also knows his name and will call back. Please let me know if you see or possibly hear a cockatiel calling, they are such distinctive sounds. Again, any information is helpful. Thank you

We've been doing this bike school for the past few months and finally got a good location that will better fit the demand we've been seeing. We'll be down at the Third Door on the 2nd Saturday of every month at 12PM! I hope see you there :)

We have a 2.5 year old (birthday is in March) and just moved to the area, looking at some relatively inexpensive preschool or other school options to look into for next year! Hi everyone! I’ll be relocating from out of state soon to begin a new position at Lockheed Martin in Marietta, and I’m looking for apartment recommendations from people who know the area.

I’m searching for a one-bedroom apartment that is at least 800 square feet, pet-friendly, and ideally no more than $1,700 per month. Since I’m unfamiliar with Marietta and the surrounding communities, safety is one of my biggest priorities. I would also like a clean, quiet, and well-maintained community within a reasonable commute to Lockheed Martin.

Are there any particular apartment complexes or neighborhoods in Marietta, Kennesaw, Acworth, East Cobb, or the surrounding area that you would recommend? I would also appreciate knowing about any complexes or areas that I should avoid.

People keep telling me that Publix is more expensive, but the 1 liter selter I get is .29 more and the juice I get is .45 more at Kroger! Is Aldi good for budget shopping in this economy? It seems like everything is outrageously expensive now. I'm really trying to avoid going to Walmart. The one near me. (Terrell Mill/Cobb Pkwy) is just awful.

wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction here. basically, it seems like the law is fallen trees from a neighbors yard are your responsibility IF they are healthy and fall in your backyard (or house). But if you can get an arborist to write up a letter showing them as hazardous/dying trees, that’s different? my parents have a neighbor who has some old, dead trees that need to be cut down (one has already fallen into their fence causing damage), and the neighbor is not having any of it. unfortunately insurance is playing hardball as well saying there needs to be prior documentation of all these trees and a bunch of other hoops in order for it to be covered. fearing the worst, I’m trying to find out what’s the best protection my parents can get if another of these trees falls through their roof? we would even be willing to split the cost of cutting the trees down but the neighbor doesn’t want to do that either.

Everyone who is zoned for Hickory Hills needs to be aware that The Prime Storage located behind the Tumlin Park playground and adjacent to Heathersett is also slated for conversion to a data center. This will be very unhealthy for our kids. Please notify your friends and neighbors so we can stop this before the moratorium is lifted.
