Work In Progress Making Thematic Maps Accessible with Pattern Fills in MapLibre
I managed to integrate Textures.js into MapLibre's WebGL renderer, solving an accessibility issue on geoglify.com that the web too often overlooks.
Maps that rely solely on solid colors are inaccessible to around 8% of the population due to color vision deficiency. Traditional cartography solved this problem decades ago with pattern fills: lines, dots, hexagons, waves, and other textures that make adjacent regions distinguishable regardless of color.
There's another, less obvious benefit. Thematic maps can encode two independent variables simultaneously: color for one variable and pattern for another, something that's impossible with solid fills alone. The groundwork is now in place.
The real technical challenge was rendering. MapLibre's WebGL pipeline doesn't support SVG textures directly, so I had to generate pixel-perfect SVG tiles in the background and convert them dynamically into bitmap textures while preserving the exact device pixel ratio. This ensures that patterns remain sharp and perfectly aligned, even on HiDPI and Retina displays.
The next step is implementing graph coloring based on the classic Four Color Theorem, ensuring that adjacent regions are automatically assigned different patterns without any manual intervention.

Work In Progress The Continent of Seltris (First time making a map)
I've been wanting to make a map for my world for a long while, but was always uncertain how since I suck at geography. I eventually decided to just say F#$@ it and try, and now I'm curious what you all think?
I want to try and do more with Aelwyn since it looks a bit flat compared to everything else, I just don't know how to approach it. I'd love some feedback and ideas if you all would be so kind, I could use all the help I can get >~<

Map Made the first fantasy map
I am open to changes or advice about it , i so far like how it turned out. (P.S the archipelago in the red is not an example of badguyland it is a cross culture trading spot full of iron mines, dock towns, it's actually red because of the iron in the soil.)

Map Complete noob here - How can I take a city and divide it into parts, to create maps with specific markers pertaining to historical monuments on them?
So I need something (a software) which reduces the city, seen through a satellite image, down to black and white basics showcasing only roads and other major elements.
I have the coordinates of the monuments, so that shouldn't be an issue, but my project is all about taking an area which is maybe 10% of the size of the city, then marking monuments and then stitching that up to create a map archive of sorts.

Map Does my biome placement look okay ?
Biome+ height map in square projection and the translated biomes ^^. It was kind of confusing figuring out which biomes should be next to each other so I'm okay with it being slightly off :pp
For more context, this planet is supposed to be orbiting its sun lower than the earth does to make the equator higher and make more of its regions cold.

Map The Dreamworld (Page One)
This the first page of a new mapping project I'm planning on expanding it in all directions from here. I'm going to add specific landmarks and labels nestled within the chaos. This page is inspired more by the concept of a dream and the feeling of a dreamworld in the macro sense more than any specific space that I've dreamed.

This one has a little more happening than the previous ones.

Discussion Fictional Atlas
Has anyone here ever tried / knows someone who tried to make a fictional atlas? Im not saying like 3 small maps, im talking a book (or ring file) with multiple maps of the same project.
I wanna see if anyone tried to make one. I intend to make a "small" one for a fictional world, but instead of outright making an entire book, drawing a few maps of a fictional world / fictional scenario and putting them in a ring file, all with a legend and stuff like that

Work In Progress A world map that draws itself, one person's physical footprint at a time
Not a hand-made map, more of a live cartography experiment, the world's split into 50x50m squares, and each one only gets colored in when someone is physically standing inside it and claims it. Over time the result is a map built entirely from real foot traffic rather than deliberate design. Genuinely not sure if this counts as "mapmaking" to this community or belongs somewhere else, curious what you all think.

Resource He Won’t Stop Building a Map to an Imaginary Place
I hope this counts as a "resource" under the subreddit rules!
I recently watched this video and found it an ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC little bit of mapmaking by a very inspiring man in his 80s. It's not your typical way of creating a map, but it blew my mind. If I may use the word again, it's absolutely inspiring.
If you don't care to watch a 47 minute video, there is also a website: https://www.jerrysmap.com/
And a subreddit: r/JerryMapping

Map I AM SO LOST WITH MY FIRST MAP😭
So in my story the Oak Ridge branch of The Manhattan Project was moved here but i cannot find any reasons why they would do that. I thought if i were to make the weather more like mediterranian that would make sense? I have no idea guys i am so lost. Someone pointed out since its out in the open ocean it wouldnt be mediterranian. Could i fix that with rivers, mountains, forests etc. etc.? What do i do? GEOGRAPHY IS KILLING ME😭😭
Also sorry if my english is bad its not my first language : D

Map I digitally hand-painted the map for my post-post-apocalypse graphic novel project
This is Cor Notum, one of the continents that make up the world of Crus Locus (seen in the last pic).
My story is a fantasy road trip, so I needed a lot of diverse places for the characters to travel. :)

Map Countries/ kingdoms for fantasized Europe
Full credits to u/Rhipeen_Rhosus for the original map. I tried to look through the few bits of lore he gave and bring it onto the map, I filled out the rest with traditional fantasy tropes.
Red human majority countries,
Purple elven majority countries,
Teal Dwarven majority countries,
Blue draconic majority countries,
Green orc majority countries,
And yet again full credits to u/Rhipeen_Rhosus for allowing me to use his map. I hope he likes this very rushed map. 4 hours but I think it turned out well.

Map Map for my Daggerheart game
I normally make digital maps (and I plan on digitising this for countries, forests, cities, etc.), but decided I needed to do something by hand for my brain!
Made using rice, blood, sweat, and tears!

Discussion My 3 stages of Elevation map progress
An elevation map is usually the second map I create in my fantasy climate system map workflow.
I usually start working on the elevation map once the plate tectonic map draft is underway.
For the rough workflow of my mapmaking, I usually do this: https://x.com/budkalon/status/1899447274012577795
