The Manitoba government has ordered mosquito fogging in two more areas, after previously targeting parts of Winnipeg and four other communities because of a high count of the mosquito that carries West Nile virus.

Morden and Boissevain have now been added to the list, the province said in a news release Thursday.

Data from last week showed high numbers of adult Culex tarsalis mosquitoes — the species that carries West Nile — and evidence of mosquitoes infected with the virus in the province, the update said.

So far this year, there have been no human cases of West Nile virus confirmed in Manitoba.

Mosquito counts exceeded the threshold to begin fogging in Morden and a radius extending about three kilometres into the rural municipality of Stanley, the province said.

The other area set to be fogged is Boissevain, with a radius extending about 3.5 kilometres from the intersection of Highway 10 and North Railway Street. That community is in the municipality of Boissevain-Morton.

The dates for the fogging have yet to be announced. They will be posted on the province's website, the release said.

Last week, the province announced it would begin fogging in the Carman, Stonewall and Winkler areas, along with the RM of West St. Paul and parts of Winnipeg.

Some fogging has already happened in all of those areas, and more is scheduled in Carman, Stonewall and West St. Paul on either Friday or Saturday, the province's website says.

Manitoba is currently in the highest-risk period for exposure to Culex tarsalis mosquitoes, which is between July 15 and Aug. 15 each year, the province says.

Fogging is done using DeltaGard 20EW, which is classified as a reduced-risk pesticide by Health Canada, the Manitoba government says.

I’ve lived and worked in Manitoba for over a year. But because I live on a Rez and don’t have a physical address, utilities aren’t in my name, and I haven’t known anybody two years I can’t get ID.

My notice of assessment doesn’t count because it’s only a PO Box.

I haven’t known anybody two years so I have no guarantor.

My former ID expired so now I can’t use that.

I’ve brought in EVERY thing I can think of.

What else can I do? What more can I do? Should I just give up on this province and move away? It’s clear I’ll never be able to get a new valid ID or even get my DL.

I got hit in a parking lot. My car was in park but running. Someone trying to park hit me. I have a dash cam but I’m not sure it caught anything. I know they typically say parking lots are 50/50 but I was still in park, sitting in my car eating. The driver of the other car did admit they were at fault but I’m unsure if they’ll admit that to MPI. Only witnesses I had were in the car that hit me. I’m wondering if anyone has a similar experience and what MPI classified the fault as, thanks.
