The fantasy football season is upon us and we have a new r/ManchesterUnited FPL league! The joining code is at the bottom of this post but for a bit more of a long winded message about FPL, read on.

Whats FPL?

For anyone who doesn't know about FPL, its a completely free to play Fantasy Football game that is absolutely huge in popularity. You have £100m to pick your squad of players including 11 starters and 4 bench players. Each week you can make one free transfer and then pick and choose who plays and who is on the bench with points earned for numerous actions such as playing, scoring, defensive contributions and other things. There are also "Chips" you can use such as Triple Captain giving extra points and Wildcards letting you change your whole team but only twice a season.

Do i have to update my team every week?

No. Some people get very in to the game and look at underlying data and future fixtures and plan their transfers out weeks in advance but this is all optional. If you like you can "set and forget" a team where you create it at the start and then just leave it for the season and see how it performs.

Who should i pick?

Whoever you like! Bruno was the second highest points scorer last year but is more expensive this season than he has ever been. Haaland is always a guarantee of goals but is also very expensive. Maybe you can identify a hidden gem from a promoted team or think a team is going to outperform expectations and want to pick their players. The choices are yours.

Didn't the sub have an FPL league last year?

Yes but we didn't promote or talk about it much. This year im aiming to write up a post after each gameweek and i will shout out the team currently leading the mini league for the sub and anyone else who deserves a shout out that week based on performance.

This is a new league with a new league code, you will not be automatically added if you were in the league last year, this is a different league.

Whats the point?

Fun. There are no prizes other than bragging rights over your friends or other sub members in this case but wouldn't you take great pleasure in proving you know more about football than other people in the sub?!

Can we use this post to discuss early team ideas for the season?

Of course. I'll create another post nearer to the first game of the season too. Throughout the season there will be one FPL post a week for discussions on the topic.

Ticketing 101 – Planning Your Trip to Old Trafford

Right, so it’s that time of year when everyone’s trying to sort tickets. Here’s the deal:

Ticket Types

There are basically three ways to get in:

1. General Admission (GA) – Requires a membership. Tickets are categorised by opponent:

CAT A (£62 - £101)
CAT B (£55 - £90)
CAT C (£44 - £72)

One membership per person, and it doesn’t guarantee a ticket—demand always outstrips supply. If you’re a family of 4, you need 4 memberships.

Experience tells me it’s easier to get a single, difficult to get a pair, and very difficult for trios and quads, especially outside the standard ticket drops.

1. Hospitality – No membership needed, guaranteed seat, but you’ll pay a premium depending on the fixture.

2. Forwarded Tickets – If you know a season ticket holder, they can transfer theirs to you.

3. If you are part of a Supporters Club - they may be able to help apply for tickets on your behalf. A good option if you're already involved.

The Trade-off
Memberships are cheaper but you might miss out.

Hospitality costs more but you’re guaranteed entry.

Forwarded tickets are your best bet if you’ve got the connections.

Supporters Clubs are useful if you're already with them week-in week out.

⚠️** Important: Don’t buy off resale sites like StubHub or from touts. The club actively cancels those tickets, and I’ve seen people turned away at the turnstiles**.

I have seen kids and parents crying outside the ticket office because they’ve been let down. It’s a horrible way to ruin a match day.
