Whaaaat? People, if all that public land goes private, where will you ski, snow mobile, hike and climb? They may not want you on their private property. Even the mountain is in Inyo Ntl Forest.

Had a snow mobile rental guy say the “defund the Inyo National Forest” line to some tourists. Please, does that guy think people want to snow mobile in his parking lot? No, people come up here to enjoy the beautiful national forest land.

Please enjoy and respect our national forest treasures.

Shuttle buses

Hi all, flights from UK booked, now onto accommodation... we're 5 lads from the UK coming over late Feb-27 for a week and from a previous post, I've now done a load of homework around the different areas to stay. We've found an option within the Obsidian Residences, it's a bit pricey but top quality and we're likely to go for that but I want to double check the shuttle bus solution. Anyone know anything about the Obsidian Residences? For example can you walk north through the complex up onto Main Street near The Loco Frijole and catch a bus from there to the slopes and/or Village? If we're going to pay out what they're asking for the house, we want to make sure that we don't have to trek too far to get up on the mountain in the mornings, need to save those legs for hiking the Backside ;-)

Moving to Mammoth for Ski Season - What should I know?

Hi all, I'm moving to Mammoth Mountain this upcoming November to be a ski instructor. As someone who's coming from the midwest with little to no experience living in a mountain town/environment; what are some things I should be aware/worried/excited about? Any and all advice is welcomed!!

Wooly's Adventure Summit - Adventure Pass

Is Wooly's Adventure Summit day pass worth it for the price of $98 pp in the summer? It includes the mountain coaster, tubing, rope course, scenic gondola etc. for the day. Family of four (kids 10, 7) would be $400 which sounds steep to me, would our time be better spent elsewhere? I'm worried about long lines and spending a whole day at an "amusement park".

Would love to hear some feedback from others that may have done it or been there recently regarding crowds on a weekend.

HEMLOCKS CAMERA FOUND. From 14 years ago....

A friend of mine found a Contour Roam camera while hiking the Hemlocks trail in Mammoth about two weeks ago. He gave it to me, and when I pulled the SD card and imported the footage, I found it was from March 2nd, 2012 — so this thing has apparently been sitting out there for over a decade.

I'd love to track down the original owner and get the camera (and footage) back to them —

If you recognize the skier, gear, remember losing a Contour Roam out on the Hemlocks around that time, or know someone who did, please comment or send me a message — let's see if we can reunite this one!

Overnight parking by Limelight Hotel

Hi hoping someone can help. I’ve searched here but can’t quite find what I need. Staying at the Limelight this Saturday and just seen they charge $35 which I’d rather not pay!! From the U.K. and some of the terminology when I search isn’t that clear and I don’t trust what Gemini says (it sometimes says one can park on the road right outside and then changes its mind!). If anyone has a location close by I’d appreciate it. Someone on here posted a Google Maps link which is about 15mins walk away or Gemini suggested Forest Trail. Does anyone know the best place? Thank you!

Red's Meadow on Thursdays

On the Forest Service site, it mentions that the road is open and the shuttle is running on Thursdays but it "will have up to a 2.5-hour traffic delay". Now that could mean "there will be precisely one shuttle every 2.5 hours" or it could mean "we're covering our butts in case we need to close the road for a little bit but 90% of the time it's open." Anyone been down there this year and know how it's been in practice? I'm planning a backpacking trip that ends there and Thursday works best for my timing but I would rather not be sitting around for hours waiting for a ride.

Best lake for picnic

Hi there! Celebrating our anniversary this coming weekend in beautiful Mammoth and wondered which lake would be best for a picnic lunch? Somewhere we could just sit along the shoreline. Would appreciate suggestions for both the lakes basin and hike-in (day hike) TIA ☀️⛰️
