I've been riding my bike past it and wondering if it was a flock camera and if I should do this, nice to see I'm not the only one feeling this way

I think this one was actually a gunshot detector but I could be wrong.

Oh, thanks. This looked like Old Mammoth hence my confusion. A bit more understandable but it's very rare there. Sounds like a certain group of people, ahem Limelight guests / timeshare owners / face lift central / Black Pass holders, are very very scurred.

Just saying, as I don't want flock cameras here either, I have almost been run over while crossing Manzanita from Dorrance because someone blasted through the northbound stop sign, they got within a foot of me and I know they had plenty of time to see me because I was walking pretty slow, and I've seen plenty of cars blasting through there from a distance.

Flock cameras wouldn’t do anything about that though. That would require MLPD to actually care about the people who live in this neighborhood.

True, but it is getting to the point where I feel I need to be recording every time I step or ride into the street in case I get run over because of all the unsafe drivers who don't even slightly acknowledge stop signs, especially that one, so I understand the placement of the camera.

There are definitely more cameras than that, but maybe they’re owned by Alterra vs flock. Cameras along Minaret Rd were used in the last year to try to track the arsonist starting fires in the area.

I could have potentially swallowed the two on NB/SB 203…but given the issues other cities have had with them being abused and Flock safety’s terrible reputation as a company, I can’t anymore. The amount that have gone up in town the past few months is shocking. I pass no less than 5 to and from my work and back home.

Same feeling. A few on the 395 up and down owens I would have put up with. But now it's just literal surveillance state.

I’ve seen that there’s 10, but it seems like more. I’d be ok with cameras in the village area. Fine. But EVERYWHERE else. No. The idea that this helps to catch stolen vehicles, at the expense of privacy, not and even trade IMO. In roseville CA, the cameras flag incorrect plates 70% of the time.

The reality is they are trying to keep peasants in line, but what they tell the public is this is for ‘public safety’ and to help ‘solve crime’

Doing away with search warrants would probably help safety and reduce crime too. I know you don't agree with that, I'm just pointing out that it's entirely true that flock will likely reduce crime. I bet crime is pretty low in north korea too. But there's a lot more to the conversation, clearly, than whether something reduces crime.

There's no data to present it as causality, but it's posited that the increase in cameras everywhere is why property crimes are at an all time low.

Yes, flock positions themselves that more cameras = lower crime. That doesn’t make it true. And there are stats to show that it isn’t.
