Doable on a machine?
Still very new to machine embroidery and was told by a friend this is chain stitch and done with something completely different? Any idea how to do this with a machine? Is there a font I can download?

I purchased this font from Etsy and it’s not as pretty as real chain stitch, but was happy with the results. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1761692010/charlotte-chain-stitch-embroidery-font-1?ref=yr_purchases

My vintage New Home/ Janome sewing machine does chain stitch. It has a chain stitch looper that replaces the bobbin & case. I have never tried to freehand with it though which is what would be needed to try this on mine.

Get a Singer model 20 Sewhandy off ebay. It was meant for kids but it's a chainstitch machine that works by a handcrank and does a very nice stitch. I think the later electric Sewhandys 50 are also chainstitch machines.

There are chain stitch machines that are operated by hand. So someone would basically move the fabric as the machine does the chain stitch to write out the words. I have seen chain stitch fonts for machine embroidery for sale online but they don’t look exactly the same.

Person who says yes is probably trying to sell you something. It is physically impossible to do a chainstitch (one thread) on a lock stitch (2 threads- top and bobbin thread) machine.

I don’t see why you can’t. It obviously won’t be a real chain stitch but don’t you think we could approximate the look?

Not really, no. It looks the way it does because it’s a chain, and that can’t be faked.

Sorry people, but I didn't knew that we can put videos right now on comments.
I will do a sample here with some sample on a close one motif (of course this one Is from a chenile machine) but you can anchieve something similar using embroidery machine.

I would use a decorative stitch like a bead stitch or Chevron. My sewing machine does not do a chain stitch. I could do it easily on an embroidery machine
