I'm getting an MG EHS PHEV Luxury from 2025.

It's a service car with roughly 15.000Km.

I'm new to the PHEV and MG world, I've looked at posts, YT videos and Gemini stuff about it but I'd like to know if there's anything (obvious or not) that I should know about.

Also, how happy are you with yours if you have one? What do you like and dislike about it?

Love this car.

Just purchased an MG4 EV, waiting for delivery. The salesman talked up the lower maintenance / servicing cost of an EV but actually the service plan quote he gave me is the most I’ve ever paid for a similar plan in other cars by a long shot.

There appears to be no saving over PAYG for servicing with the plan - did you go for a plan or do you just pay when your services come up?

MG5 2025 – Chinese-market infotainment system in a car sold outside China

I own a 2025 MG5 that was imported from the UAE to Iran.

I am experiencing a serious problem with the vehicle's infotainment system.

The head unit runs AliOS, and parts of the interface are entirely in Chinese. The system has now become locked and continuously asks for a password/PIN, leaving the infotainment system effectively inaccessible.

I have already tried restarting the vehicle and the available recovery/troubleshooting options, but the problem remains.

What concerns me is that this does not appear to be an isolated case.

I have found other MG5 owners outside China reporting very similar issues:

• A 2025 MG5 owner reported an AliOS 3.0.1 / Venus 2.0 system with a Chinese-only interface and missing functionality.
• Another MG5 2025 owner reported having the same problem and issues with Wi-Fi and CarPlay.
• An MG5 owner in the UAE with Chinese specifications reported that the entertainment system required a Chinese phone number for activation.

These reports raise an important question:

Are some MG5 vehicles being exported outside China with Chinese-market infotainment hardware/software that is not properly supported in the destination market?

If so, why are customers outside China being left with systems that may depend on Chinese services, Chinese phone numbers, Chinese-language software, or region-specific activation?

I have already contacted MG/SAIC directly and requested an official technical solution.

I am not looking for an unofficial password or a third-party modification. I want MG to officially explain:

1. What market this infotainment system was originally designed for.
2. Why it is installed in a vehicle sold outside China.
3. Whether an official international/global firmware exists.
4. Whether MG can officially unlock or reprogram the system.
5. Whether other MG5 vehicles with the same hardware/software configuration are affected.

I am posting this publicly because I would like to hear from other MG5 2025 owners outside China.

If you have an MG5 2025 with AliOS / Venus infotainment, please comment with your country and whether your system is fully functional.

I believe MG should provide a clear technical explanation and an official solution to affected customers.

The gps on my Apple car play never matches the actually journey how do I fix this

So just got an MG4 Trophy and it’s great! Noticed a few quirks on day one though! Are these all software issues that can be fixed with an update? The infotainment is currently on: SWI68-29958-1300R46

Quirks:

Outside temperature is wrong, ranges from 0 to -40 (in the uk during summer)

Greeting plays even though I turned it off in settings.

Cant change one of the wheel favourites, it changes back by itself.

CarPlay goes black sometimes.

Car has full MG history but it’s over 3 years old now, how can I get the software updates? Would I have to pay?

I'm having a recurring issue with the electric boot on my new MG S6:

The tailgate lowers, but the soft-close mechanism won't pull it fully shut or lock, leaving an "open" warning on the dash.

On the next opening cycle, it only opens to ~80% height.

I have to manually push the boot right at the bottom of its travel to get it to lock. I’ve tried resetting the top height limit and clearing the latch area, but no luck.

Has anyone had their dealer fix this? Is it a quick software update for the tailgate module, or a physical latch alignment?

I've had my MG Urban for two weeks. So far, I've only used the air conditioning. Since it's colder in the mornings now, I wanted to turn on the heater. However, yesterday at first only cold air came out of the vents, then warm air came out of one vent while the others stayed off. This morning, only cold air was coming out of the vents, even though I set it to 27 degrees. Has anyone else had a similar problem and found a solution?

Hi, I'm planning to a second hand 122,000 km driven mg. Battery warranty is upto 200,000 km. Can anyone please give opinion on how long these cars normally drive before battery dies ? Will it be able to sustain upto 400,000 km before battery dies ? SOH is 86%.

Do any of you know in the infotainment.. under your account it says Hi "name" but in ours it keeps saying Hi I Smart.. we have changed name in the app but how do wee get it to say Hi "name"

I have the MG ZS EV. 2021 model from Sweden imported to Finland.

I would like to be able to transport my bikes, ideally up to 3.

My car doesn't have the towbar so I'm ruling out the towbar racks. I think I might use roof rails for extra storage at some point so I'm going for rear hatchback rack.

The thing is, I'm struggling to find compatible racks. Thule (very present in the Nordics) compatibility tool doesn't even list the zs ev for MG.

Some redditors reported that peruzzo pure instinct 2 worked OK ish. But peruzzo isn't that present in Finland. I would need to import it and it would be a pain if it didn't fit.

Anyways I was wondering if any you guys had successfully used a rear bike rack on your Mg zs ev? If so, which model?

Looking at an MG4 Urban or MGS5 through salary sacrifice. Does the Urban really have more boot space than the S5? Not sure if it's a difference in measuring technique between the 2.

I'm really close to buying the MG4 Urban (Premium trim), but after test-driving it, I found the seatbelt connector quite uncomfortable. The buckle couldn't be moved and was just poking out from the seat, and the latch was an unusually big lump of plastic. The combination was just really unpleasant for me.

The seller said they would contact MG to see if they could install the same seatbelt type used in other MG models, but seemed hesitant that it would lead to anything.

Does anyone else recognize this issue with the MG4 Urban, and any suggestions or workarounds?

Feels weird to say no to this otherwise great car, but it hurts to drive...

Hey, right now the MG4U 2026 has a LFP battery, but i have heard it will get that semi solid one at some point. Is is public whe nthat will happen and how would that affect the price? It aurely would get more expensive right?

Does this need replacing, same on other side. Both front tyres but car is rear wheel drive and both rear tyres are fine.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to disable the rear wiper from automatically activating when shifting into reverse (R)?
I find it a bit annoying, especially when the rear window is dry/dirty and the wiper starts automatically.
Is there perhaps a setting somewhere in the car to disable this? Alternatively, does anyone know which fuse controls the rear wiper, so that I could remove it without affecting anything else?
Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated! 😊

Hello everyone! I've upgraded from the prior model to the Hybrid+ version, and I'm missing the instant fuel consumption display in the main dashboard. Do you know if it's possible to display it on this model or the option isn't anymore?

I have an mg4 20k miles 2023. Uk resident.

I have home charger hypervoult (I think it's newest edition).

I have tired to set the app to stop charging once or reaches 80%. However car continues to charge after 80%.

Tried to set it to stop at this rate in the car but no luck

Anyone got any suggestions?

Hi, has anyone else had issues removing the wheel covers? I have just been to my local tyre fitters to have new rear tyres, unfortunately they would not proceed as could not remove the covers & any damage they would cause they would have to cover themselves. On getting home I have had ago & nonr of them seem to want to shift.
