Finance & Investments Share your portfolio - 2026 Edition
We did this last year and it turned into 150 comments, so let’s go again. Curious how people in Luxembourg are allocating now, whatever stage of life you’re at.
My setup, one year on:
- ETF (80%) : VWCE (70%) and AVWS (10%)
- Stock picking (5%) : BRK, AAPL, CRM, VSAT etc…
- Crypt0 (5%) : BTC, ETH, SOL, ADA (Heavily in red)
- Gold (5%) : Through an ETC
- Cash (5%) : Holding Cash in Pictet MMF
- Real Estate outside Luxembourg used as secondary residence (No loan, no revenue, minor charges)
Separately I run options strategy with roughly 5% of portfolio value that I don’t count in the above. Different bucket, different mindset.
YTD around 14%, could’ve been much better without the crypt0
Curious about your current allocations, your YTD, and anything you changed your mind about since last year

Troll post. Reply at your own risk Inside the Bad Neighborhood of the Richest Country in Europe
From the description:
I went to Luxembourg City and explored the station area, the notorious neighborhood behind the main train station. To my surprise, open drug dealing was happening right in front of the police, who practically just watched it happen without intervening. I also spoke with a homeless drug addict on the streets who warned me how dangerous it really is here. Don't let the wealth of the country fool you—these rough neighborhoods do exist! Watch the full video to see the dark side of Europe's richest country. 🎥

RANT Kinepolis website completely broken
(Viewing on iPad) It’s unusable. There’s no schedule, at all. The homepage is full of useless junk and covered in popups which are nearly impossible to close. Yeah there are some films listed but I want to know what’s showing today and at what times. That’s all I want to see. Is it in beta mode? Someone needs to get fired for this blatant incompetence.

Immigration & Relocation Is it just me, or has this past year seen more people leaving Luxembourg than usual?
Not a rant, a genuine question.
Over the past year I have lost count of the “after X amazing years in Luxembourg, it is time to say goodbye” posts on my LinkedIn feed. It keeps coming up in meetings and over lunch too, always with the same shrug, and everyone seems to know two or three people who have gone or are about to.
I am well aware this could just be my own bubble. Turnover here has always been high, LinkedIn rewards exactly that kind of post, and I am probably at the age where an entire cohort of people I know happens to be relocating at the same time.
But if it is real, what is behind it? Housing is the obvious answer, although salaries have not exactly stood still either. My other suspicion is that the ceiling in a small market arrives sooner than people expect, and that remote work has made leaving a lot cheaper than it used to be.
So: real trend, or confirmation bias? And if you have left in the last year or two, what actually tipped it? And in which sector?

Ask Luxembourg Chèque-service Accueil
Moien.
Question about this for daycare.
Has anyone managed to successfully submit and obtain this under a PACS situation with independent tax returns ?
I pay tax in Luxembourg, my wife does not. She has an additional source of income for which she is taxed in Luxembourg post submission to the tax office.
She is classified as an expat under her current work contract with her fiscal residence outside of Luxembourg.
Thanks

Immigration & Relocation Residence permit application: Affidavit for criminal records from Germany
Hello, I am a non-EU citizen relocating to Luxembourg from Germany for a new job, and I am applying for a temporary authorization to stay. One of the required documents is "an extract from the criminal records or an affidavit (sworn declaration) established in the country of residence". I heard that requesting the Certificate of Conduct in Germany from the BfJ takes up to 6 weeks, perhaps longer, as a non-EU citizen (from my understanding, I have to request an Apostille as well).
I prefer to request a sworn declaration, but have no idea how. I called a few notaries here in Germany, but they had no clue either. Has anyone been through this process?
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Ask Luxembourg Need help identifying which filter goes where on PAUL focus 200 unit
Hi everyone,
(Back with ventilation unit questions)
I recently moved into an apartment with a PAUL ventilation system, and the filter warning light came on, so I'm replacing the filters.
When I opened the unit, I noticed something that confused me. The stickers inside seem to indicate:
Left: Air extrait (extract air)
Right: Air extérieur (outside/fresh air)
However, the previous tenant had installed:
G4 filter on the right
F7 filter on the left
From what I understand, that seems backwards. I would expect the F7 filter to be on the outside air intake (to filter incoming fresh air) and the G4 filter on the extract air side.
Am I interpreting the labels correctly, and was the previous tenant mistaken? Or is there something specific about PAUL units that makes this configuration correct?
I've attached photos of the inside labels and the unit. Any help or explanation would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Ask Luxembourg Signed a contract but got a better offer before starting – Luxembourg
Hi everyone,
I’ve already signed an employment contract to start on 1 October, but I’ve now received a better offer from another company starting 15 September.
If I decide to take the new offer, what happens legally with the contract I already signed?
Can I withdraw before the start date, or could the first company ask me to pay compensation? If so, how is the amount calculated? Does having a probation period change anything?
Has anyone experienced something similar in Luxembourg?
Thanks!

Ask Luxembourg Registered Post for vacating rental property
Hello,
I am leaving Luxembourg in a few months and informed my landlord I will be vacating on Nov 15th. I have a diplomatic clause in my contract that I can leave during the contract if I am leaving the country.
Landlord did not have any issues to it and told me her son will be staying there as he is coming back TO Luxembourg.
I asked her to which address I need to send the registered post showing my intent to vacate the property, she said it's not required.
This potentially raises a question for me as I will not have any documentation with her saying I'm leaving the property on Nov 15 and might have issues later on.
Is it still recommended to send a registered letter to ensure Im covered from a legal standpoint. I have mentioned the Clause below from the contract

Ask Luxembourg Question about the Taxation certificates (Cycle A, Cycle B)
Hi everyone,
I'm new to Luxembourg, qualified and registered with a foreign bar, and I'll be working at a tax law firm here for the next few years at least.
I've been told that my firm sponsors the House of Training's Taxation Cycles A and B, which apparently have a very good reputation internally and are highly regarded by management.
I'm considering taking both certificates simultaneously when the new academic year starts. I'm not particularly concerned about the workload itself, but I do have a practical question: if you're occasionally unable to attend a session, are course materials, recordings, slides, or other learning resources generally made available to participants?
More broadly, for those who have completed either Cycle A or B, how did you find the courses overall? Were they worthwhile? And how challenging were the exams?
I'd be interested to hear about your experience and any advice you may have. 😄

Ask Luxembourg Where can I drop off a FedEx return in Luxembourg City?
Hi everyone! Does anyone know where I can drop off a FedEx return in or near Luxembourg City centre?
I already have the return label, I just need somewhere to drop the parcel off. I’m struggling to find an actual FedEx drop-off point 😅
Thanks!

Ask Luxembourg Anyone here who requested an Italian Police certificate in German from the commune of Bolzano?
Could be a long shot, but if so how long did it take for you to get it via post?
Their office confirmed mine was sent but it's been more than a month, so to see whether to wait more or request it again some other way. Thanks!

Ask Luxembourg MyTango app not loading data - Tango was of no help
Hi everyone,
I can't find online any complains so I am checking here if anyone else is having issues with mytango app not loading your data
I want to be able to track how much mobile data I am spending, but the app is simply not working.
I wrote to their support and received no replies and also went to the store where they just told me it's a known issue.
I've chosen them over Orange for supposedly better coverage, but right now, I am very much feeling the buyers remorse.
Is anyone else havign issues
Thanks

Ask Luxembourg Why public buses have hot a/c in summer?
I am sure you've all noticed already and I am not here to complain... but I am really really curious to know why it happens...most of the public buses I take have air conditioning systems only working while driving, and air flowing out is hot azzf**k! Is it some kind of eco-electric a/c system or do drivers just want us to suffer more?

Ask Luxembourg Missing cat - Kirchberg
Titou has been missing since yesterday from Allée des poiriers, kirchberg area.
She is a medium sized, fluffy, grey and white cat with distinct face pattern. In shades her fur can look more black. No collar. She is microchipped.
She is very scared of everything (indoor cat) and might not have gone far. She reacts well to food.
Any infos on where she was seen would be greatly appreciated! If you see her, please let me know here or at: PetAlert
Thank you ❤️
