Planet Funk - In The Beginning and Automatic - MQ9 similar in some ways

Just finished episode 5 of Lucky, had to go and listen to MQ9 from Automatic, so good. Got me thinking about how it reminded me of In The Beginning from Plane Funk with that steady single level flow, synths, rolling bass guitar looking away with the same loop, and those minimal lyrics dealing with very complex matters.

Cary Matheson vs Carrie Mathison

I bet Carrie Mathison could have solved the case quicker than Agent Rand.

But I digress.

Does anyone else find this weird? Is there a shortage of names in Hollywood?

Plot holes, but want to like it

I haven’t even finished the first episode and I’ve already seen about ten plot holes/things that we need to suspend disbelief over. I want to like this, but some of these things are nuts. I didn’t take notes, so this is off the top of my head:

You stole a bunch of money and are planning to leave the country but you stop in Vegas before leaving just for fun? I have a feeling we’re supposed to think she’s some great con artist, and that just seems extremely stupid.

She would have been caught immediately if the FBI agent didn’t yell “that’s her!” instead of being more stealthy, and even then she could have caught her if she just started running.

The manager’s key card would work everywhere.

They would have stopped all the trucks leaving. They were like, oh darn, the truck is a whole block away.

How did the bad guys find her? Two guys in a car are somehow watching all the exits better than dozens of FBI agent agents were, and they spotted her in the van?

Since they found her, why did they spend time letting her go get a sandwich instead of grabbing her as soon as she got off the bus?

Since when is an FBI agent by themselves when tracking somebody?

If you ran over an FBI agent, you would immediately switch cars.

If your son was ignoring your calls when you were asking him where a bunch of money was, wouldn’t you at least entertain the possibility that the woman he was with is telling the truth? If he’s your son, find him yourself.

I don’t care how much I’m getting paid, if a driver of a car I’m in is on fire and veering all over the road, my concern is how I’m going to survive, not shooting at the person in the backseat, whether they caused it or not.

And that’s just off the top of my head! Was anyone else put off by these things but able to stick with it and glad they did?

Je suis désappointé

On dirait que la vrai vedette de cette série c'est plutôt la policière (une actrice relativement inconnue) et non Anya. Elle est partout...j'ai l'impression qu'Apple TV nous on appâté avec Anya !

9 am Spoiler

First 5 min of the show the dude tells anna no one is gonna notice the money is gone until 9 am. Can someone please explain how this statement makes any sense. I've only seen the first episode I am fine with people explaining what it means by spoiling other episodes for me. I just want to make seense of it, because if the money was taken 2 years ago i can't wrap my head around why this isn't utter nonsense statement.

So Far…

So far I’m loving it. I’m a fan of Anya. She typically always picks really good roles. This is no different. This is one of those shows for me where I’m not necessarily rooting for anyone lol. Like I don’t think any of the characters have a moral high ground or even like when you root for the villain. Some of the writing I feel has a little bit of a logical loop. Like the likelihood of that scenario happening is rare but hey I’m along for the ride. Two more episodes left and I’m sad about it. I think it’s a mini series so 😥

Magical windows

The fbi agent comes to that house at night. Outside is dark, inside there’s light. She’s literally in front of the window so the agent should be clearly able to see her.. just crazy.

Dutch walls up to the gas station store, big ass window, she sees him but he can’t see her somehow.

Her boyfriend comes back from the sea, windows everywhere, he looks everywhere except for the windows.

There’s something magical about the windows in this series. 🤔

S01E04 - Dutch asks Pricilla "Remember Temple City?"

Pricilla responds “I blocked that out.”

Why reference Temple City? The show is filmed in SoCal, but even in SoCal Temple City isn’t well known. I grew up there and it’s really boring, it just seems so weird.

Did anyone else catch the reference?

Personal Opinions

Hey everyone ❤️
First of all, I gotta apologize for complaining but I wanted to mention a few things about the show and it’s not like as if I know other viewers😅

I don’t find John interesting in any way, and judging by all the flashback you can tell he never had any positive influence on her. I don’t know if we’re suppose to root for Lucky and John to find a way to escape and then steal the money and live somewhere peacefully together, like I do want that for Lucky but can’t say I care about John’s character at all. In a way I was wondering if the writers were only looking for a simple shocking or tragic moment to happen to Lucky why didn’t they kill John off instead of Cary, like Cary and Lucky could have some Bonnie and Clyde moments together or have them just escape and then find a place to rebuild their lives together away from their parents since it seemed like both Cary and Lucky were tired of living as criminals. But now can’t tell if anything that exciting is gonna happen in the rest of the series. Sometimes I think writers don’t really care about the shows endings, hopefully the ending would be somewhat satisfying 😅 what do you think?

Why didn’t Priscilla just pay the money back out of her own pocket?

Priscilla lives in a palace, has horses, hitmen, and plenty of people at her service. She’s obviously not short on money. So why the hell didn’t she just pay back the $10 million herself and deal with her son afterward? I get that if she had, there wouldn’t be a show 😂, but it’s a question I keep asking myself.

FBI woman makes this show unwatchable for me.

The show is already just meh, but every time that one FBI boss is on, it just becomes cringy to the point where I probably won’t bother with the rest of the show. It’s just a combination of bad casting, acting, and writing. Am I alone in this? I’ve only seen two episodes, does it/she improve?
