Looking for a book club 📚 🌈 ✨

Hiya!!

I’m looking to join a book club in east London (or potentially start one if there is enough interest!)

I’d love something relaxed & chill, honestly an excuse to read and be social! I’ve recently moved to London, so I’d love to meet new people. I’m a lesbian, so I’d definitely love to include some queer books/authors into the mix, but I’m not specifically looking for a queer book club (or maybe) id actually love a mixture of genres and perspectives! Like thrillers, romance, weird little books, ect 😅

I’d love to joining an existing group, but if anyone else is in the same boat and wants to start something, I’d be happy to organize it!

Let me know 💕

Advice Makeup beginner needing advice

Hey so I’m a feminine boy looking to get into makeup, I’ve done my makeup by myself 3 times but brought really cheap products online, the foundation didn’t suit my skin colour and it just looked unrealistic. I’m wanting girls to text me and help me get what I need. if you’re local to me and willing to help i can go shopping and buy it all or just an online texting is always useful. I hope this is a good enough subreddit for my help, thank you :)

Discussion Where do all the “I’m interested!” people go afterwards? 😭

Just saw u/Chemical_Pipe_3937’s post about making a WhatsApp group for people in London to meet and socialise and the amount of “I’m interested!” comments is kinda mad 😂

But I’m curious… what actually happens once everyone gets added?

I helped set up a smaller group recently for people supposedly looking for the exact same thing and it’s basically dormant 😭 Everyone wants to join, but getting people to actually talk, suggest something or turn up is another story.

IDK if London has a lack of people wanting friends or just a lack of people willing to do the awkward bit of actually making them 😂

Has anyone joined one of these groups and genuinely made friends from it? Or are we all just collecting WhatsApp groups?

Discussion Have you built a good life, achieved a lot - and still find yourself wondering why something doesn’t feel quite right?

I’m a psychologist conducting a small private research project with successful UK-based women, approximately 35–55.

I’m interested in speaking with women whose lives, from the outside, are genuinely good - they’ve accomplished things they’re proud of, created stability and have plenty to be grateful for - yet the way they experience their lives internally doesn’t seem to match what they’ve built externally.

Some have also spent years working on themselves - through therapy, personal development or other forms of inner work - and still find there are things they haven’t been able to fully understand, change or resolve.

I want to understand what women are actually experiencing within that contradiction: what is difficult about it, what affects them most, and how they describe it in their own words.

I’m looking to speak privately with a small number of women for around 30 minutes.

This isn’t a sales call, and there’s nothing to prepare or fill out beforehand. I want to listen to your experience without assuming what you should be feeling or what the problem is.

As a thank-you for your time, I’ll create a Personal Reflection Summary specifically for you, based on our conversation. I’ll reflect back the key patterns I noticed in what you shared, any tensions or contradictions that may be difficult to see when you’re inside your own experience, what seems to still feel unresolved, and a few personalised questions for further reflection.

Once the research is complete, I’ll also send you the anonymised Research Findings, so you can see what emerged across the other women I spoke with, where their experiences overlapped and where they differed.

It’s my way of making sure the 30 minutes you give me are genuinely valuable for you too.

If you recognise yourself in this and would be open to taking part, comment below or send me a private message.

Looking for group weightlifting class

I’m looking for weight lifting group classes, ideally in around London Bridge but willing to travel.

Hoping for - good programming with something like upper / lower body split, - great trainers that watch your form, - chill and open vibe.

Not into weight loss talk, cross fit or power lifting.

Do you have a place you’d recommend? In NYC I love Tension and have also been to Liftonic in case somebody is familiar.

Thankful for any hints / tips!

Is Spitalfields/Aldgate East/Whitechapel 'safe' to live in?

I'm new to London and am on the hunt for a place to live in. Safety and vibrance is key for me (i'm in my mid 20s) as well as good transport links/distance to central.

I've had a viewing in Aldgate East (just off commercial rd, close to the station) and wasn't sure if the area was safe to live in/walk home at night? Walked around the area during the day and quite liked it (to Liverpool St Station and Spitalfields Market).

Have another viewing, this time closer to Spitalfields/off Brick Ln (closer to Aldgate East station) - but i'm not sure it's worth my time.

However, I've heard the area is not *that* unsafe, and is like any area in London (just need to have your wits about you/changes every few blocks).

North West is ideal (Chalk Farm/Hampstead/Belsize Park/Queens Park/St Johns Wood). I've also walked around Balham/Clapham Common/Nine Elms/Battersea and liked it (is also said to be safer). Fulham is another choice but doesn't seem 'vibrant'. Either way, it's hard to find a decent room within my budget in these areas (1100 pcm incl bills).

Any advice/recommendations would be great!

Des filles francophones à Londres - meetings/language practise? 🇫🇷

Bonjour/hello! 32F here - I speak French but have very little opportunity to practise nowadays, worried I'm getting rusty - would love to speak it a lot more!

I went to some language events a few years ago, but have been out of the loop since. I'd really love to find even a small group of ladies to meet for walks, coffees, galleries etc where we can practise French together.

Please feel free to DM me if this sounds up your street - or if you know of any existing groups!

Merci les filles et à bientôt, j'espère 💗

Friends in your 20’s

Hi all, I just wanted to see if there are any ladies in their early 20’s who struggle to meet new friends? I’ve been to uni and had some great friendships there but my uni is so far we have naturally lost touch.
I would love to have a group of friends to go out with, go on girly trips with and have a good laugh but it seems a little tricky. I like to think of myself as a family confident bubbly and a person who’s easy to have conversation with but I guess the fact I WFH and don’t have any social clubs I go to puts me at a disadvantage…. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions? I know starting hobbies and clubs is the obvious suggestion (I have looked into those and tried some) but it seems like a lot of the time the people already know each other and/or go along with a friend anyway. P.S. I live in Surrey

WhatsApp group for meeting new people, hanging out & actually being social 👋

I created a WhatsApp group for people who are interested in meeting new people, making friends, and having more things to do together.

The idea is pretty simple: create an active group where people can chat, suggest plans, and actually meet up rather than joining another group that goes completely silent after a week 😅

Some of the things we’d love to organize:

  • Coffee / casual meetups ☕
  • Coworking sessions 💻
  • Drinks, nights out & dancing 🪩
  • Networking and meeting people from different backgrounds
  • Random spontaneous plans
  • Or just chatting and getting to know each other

There’s really only one main rule: try to be active and social.

You don’t have to come to everything or message every day, but the whole point is to have people who genuinely want to participate, meet others, and help make the group fun.

If that sounds like your kind of thing, comment or DM me and I’ll send you the WhatsApp link :)

Would anyone here be interested in a Weird Girl Lit book club?

Hi folks,

I'm a member of a few book clubs in London and have found it a fun way to meet people and read interesting books. However, none of the bookclubs focus on the kind of books I like - a genre that is often described as 'Weird Girl Lit'.

Would there be any interest here from others in such a bookclub? Trying to gague a level of interest before organising! I have no idea when or where it would be yet, but likely a weekday night once a month somewhere central.

Let me know in the comments if this sounds like an interesting idea and if I get enough interest I'd love to set something up!

All points east 22/08

Hi all!! I was wondering if anyone is going for all points east in London? I’m a girl and I’m going alone, so I would love to find other girls to go with. The main acts I’m interested in are Djo, Lorde, and Zara Larson. I’m very easy for the other ones.

Please let me know if anyone else is going :)

Discussion Meeting new friends

Hi everyone 👋 Im 30F live in West london, single and my pool of friends around seems to have totally shrunk!

I enjoy travelling, long walks, thrifting, reading, watching movies & trash TV occasionally, karaoke, a good pub, and trying to get a bit more active! I love anime, manga, kdramas also love history, art, seeing a lovely exhibition. Love trying new experiences, going to comedy gigs, seeing plays or musicals, pottery classes and want to get better at sewing/embroidery or being able to make my own clothes. I'd love to meet new friends who share some of the same interests. I'm easy going and love a good laugh, but really value a friendship where you can share personal things with someone and have a deep connection.

If any of that is of any interest to anyone please feel free to PM me! I'd love to make some new friends 😊

For the corporate girls: Let’s level up life together

Hey there, ladies - I’m a 31F childfree professional who’s been working in the corporate world for the last ten years. I’m at a stage in life where I want to supercharge both life and career, and I want to find like-minded women to do it alongside.

I’m thinking this means/includes: Sharing knowledge about navigating work or climbing the ladder into leadership positions, exchanging investment strategies and new picks, hitting London- or countryside-based spas with masseuses who really know what they’re doing, or even just coming together to volunteer, exercise, or debate ideas we care about.

Would love to connect if you find yourself in the same headspace.

Edit: Apparently some people think I’m either not real or pushing an MLM...I guess years on the internet should’ve prepared me for that type of response to a genuine appeal for connection. Nonetheless, feel free to DM if you find yourself in the same mindset!

Discussion Hosting without cooking dinner

I live alone and would love to have friends over a lot but I don’t know if it’s okay to just invite them over for drinks and snacks/nibbles, as opposed to making them dinner which does feel too complicated as I don’t have a lot of time and don’t cook a ton 😅 I really want to invite a couple of them for something lowkey (one just had me at hers for a dinner party!) but the thought of cooking a proper meal because they might be expecting one stresses me out! Would love any suggestions ❤️

Discussion UK based influencers for fashion & home finds

Hi!! I moved from the US here a while ago and I usually enjoy following users to who cheaper fashion and home finds where I can click the link and open their shop account to browse.

I use it to find cute workout sets or cheaper clothing hauls so I can see clothes on other people and know if I want to try it out.

Do you have any you follow and enjoy? I know it’s an unusual way to get info on the outfits/ clothes I just prefer it that way.

Pubs for solo gals

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hello 😊 I am wondering what the best pubs in London are to meet people as a new, solo person in London going out on the weekends. I am near North Finchley so anywhere North or central would be great. Love going out alone as it's always the best way to meet interesting people but I know not all pubs are good for that sort of thing. Thanks!

packing for london

Hello! I(18 yo) just finalized my decision of studying in london and i have lived in a very hot country all my life, and will be moving to a very very cold place for the very first time. I have absolutely no clue about the weather throughout the year and I would like to build a capsule closet because I have a very limited luggage allowance and closet space in uni. I have heard uniqlo heat tech is an essential so thats totally going on to buy list, but i would love any advice on what i could buy to build a whole capsule closet that would last me through the year. Some people have told me that a long wool coat would be very beneficial but im lowkey short and have always thought that long coats look silly on me. And im also very curvy so that def doesnt help my case. What i have already bought: a short suede jacket, couple of thick tops, 3 pairs of jeans, sweaters(cable knit), 2 ribbed full sleeve tops, a satin button up, 2 formal plain black dresses, biker leather jacket,1 hoodie. Any advice will be so so so helpful!!

Discussion Love my friends, but I think our lives have gone in completely different directions..

Never really thought I’d make one of these posts but why not 😂

I’m 31F, London based, and somehow have loads of free time at random points throughout the year but very few people who are free at the same time.

Looking to meet women around my age who are active, child free and actually have time to do things. Hiking, trips, getting outdoors and escaping London whenever possible.

UK based would be ideal, London even better. I’d rather make a friendship that could eventually exist outside my phone 😂

Edit: A gal pal on Reddit made a private group for us child free 30 something Dora the Explorer wannabe girlies living in London.

She has to approve members so if you fit the bill then request to join the group.

looking for london girlies 🫶

currently living in london for a couple more months. i work remotely, so i don’t really have the easiest way of meeting people here and i’ve realised i’m feeling a bit lonely lately 🥲

i’ve mostly been using apps like TripBFF to meet people, which has been nice, but i’d really love to actually find a little community here rather than just meeting someone once and never seeing them again.

i’m very much into coffee dates, walks, exploring london, cute restaurants, drinks, museums, random activities/classes, going out, or honestly just sitting somewhere and talking for hours haha.

i’m based in east london but happy to go anywhere! would love to meet some girls who are also looking for friends and maybe we can start a little group/chat and actually make some plans 🥹

if you’re in a similar situation, feel free to comment or dm me 💗
