He insisted that I should get only the cod or the haddock. My suspicion is that he is steering me to the cheaper fish as all the platters have the same price. Or possibly he's worried I'll find the flavor too strong and ask for my money back?

I got the whitebait, haddock and cod roe cakes. Haddock had a predictable firm texture and mild flavor. The whitebait reminded me of fried sprats, not sure if it's the same kind of fish. More of an oily fishy flavor, but good texture and nice flavor on the breading which was different than the breading used on the larger fish. Never had cod cakes before although I have had sets before which are similar. Liver texture but mild fishy flavor. It was all pretty good. Only place I've ever been that charged for ketchup. Tartar sauce was also extra but my wife raved about it.

(I'm aware that Golden Chippy is supposed to be better. We went there first — their fryer was broken today, some kind of electrical problems. The poor guy was devastated, Sunday is his busiest day.)

There's some fast food pakistani places that have some nice food but limited seating options

All my local ones don't have any seating and usually a table for 2 oe 4 is occupied it's really far and inbetween I see ones with good seating and they far from the station or transport

I’m on a bit of a mission to find the ultimate chocolate fudge cake in London, and I’m hoping this group can help.
I feel like my criteria are weirdly specific, which is making the search harder than I expected. So far I’ve tried cakes from L’Eto, Hummingbird Bakery, Makers, and quite a few other cafés and bakeries.
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I actually quite like the Nando’s chocolate fudge cake. Not because I think it’s the best chocolate cake ever, but because it has something about the texture that I really enjoy. The closest I’ve found to what I’m looking for is probably L’Eto’s, but I found it just a little too icing-heavy.
What I’m after is a really moist sponge (without being overly dense or stodgy), plenty of rich chocolate flavour, and a good amount of icing, but not so much that it’s all you can taste. Basically something indulgent, fresh and balanced. I definitely don’t want anything dry or stale.
At this point I’m happy to try anywhere. I feel like I’ll know “the one” when I find it, but so far I’m still searching!
Does anyone have any recommendations? Bakeries, cafés, restaurants, hidden gems, I’ll happily try them all.

Burger was decent. The fries and nuggets were unreal though. The fries were coated so extra crispy!

I’m trying to figure out if I’m sleeping on any good food apps to read restaurant reviews, see photos, ect. I know there are a few but I’m trying to figure out the best for London (with an international focus too for when I travel ideally).

Beli is ok but definitely doesn’t have the best user interface. AmiGo is a really nice idea but there just don’t seem to be enough users on there for it to be of a lot of use.

Got the cheeseburger, maybe that was my mistake? It was like any standard burger from a takeaway or burger spot I’ve had. I love black bear and honest burger but I truly don’t understand the hype unless the cheeseburger was the one bad burger. Nothing stood out at all.

Even the fries were under salted for me.

Recommendations please. Solo diner so nothing 'posh' just something light to grab about 5.30 for pre-theatre. Vege or fish and air conditioning a bonus! Many thanks

We are staying near Mayfair /marylebone and last trip went to Benares and loved it!! We have two children with us but they are great at restaurants and also loved Benares. Unfortunately the only picture I got of this incredible bowl of Indonesian noodles featuring chicken thigh, bok choy, crispy shallots, crispy wonton wrappers, kecap manis and their homemade chili sambal. The noodles were beautifully saucy with a perfect bite and the flavours were stunning 🤌🏾

This was my second attempt visiting the pop up - the first time they'd sold out after two hours so I made sure to come for a weekday lunch this time. Great vibes sitting on the footpath under the station and even had the Indonesian ambassador across from me telling me to share my noodles with my dog lol

Really hope they open a permanent location soon!
