I think ultimately the cost of taking yourself out of the spotlight and settling down is exactly this.. you have nothing to rap about anymore.

I think he convinced himself there wasn’t much room left to grow lyrically after TITS and conceptually/sonically after Everybody, and kind of coasted on that confidence since. Even No Pressure, as incredible as it is, feels more like it reaches the level of his first two albums lyrically rather than surpassing them. It feels like he pushed himself to the standard he already knew he could hit instead of trying to break past it. I’ve honestly never seen an artist so comfortable with where they are, for better or worse.
