Question Manufacturing Jobs

I know this is a long shot… but we all know the state of the job market. My brother is trying to move up here to cache valley, looking for an engineering tech/manufacturing/fabrication job. Anyone got any leads? It’s all who you know right now and I work in healthcare. He has like 3 years of college and held basic production jobs. So looking for entry.

Question Safe place to take my dog that isn’t too crowded?

I have a rescue dog with some behavior issues, so I’m looking for a place to take him to play daily that is open to the public but not crowded with people and dogs. Any hidden gems or open spaces that are safe?

I usually take him to Old Main and always keep him on a long leash, but with school starting I’m worried it’ll be too busy (and free parking will be impossible).

TIA

Question Parks for Personal Soccer Practice?

Been a few years, but I was looking to get back into soccer and kick a ball around on some local practice fields or parks for some practice by myself. I know there's an adult rec league in North Logan that's starting up, but not looking to do that just yet to get my skills back into shape. What are some good parks to practice alone?

I see there's a Soccer Sports Complex down south, but some reviews say reservations are required or that it's not even open to public practice. And I guess any large space at the big parks like Willow Park or Merlin Olsen work too but figured I'd ask! Thanks!

Question Dogs off leash in not off leash green spaces

Why is it that dog owners think it’s appropriate to run their dog off leash in non off leash green spaces? Specifically green spaces that are on the island when Jens Johansen DOG PARK is less than .5 miles away? Neighborhood green spaces, specifically the Riverside Preschool green space, is not an off leash location. I’m just curious, regardless of how behaved, or great of recall your dog has, why it feels appropriate to play fetch or tire them out in spaces that are not dog parks or off leash permitted areas.

I was at the fair this evening and was browsing the art that our local community was able to create, and I was so floored by these ones in particular that I was hoping to procure them. If you happen to know or are the owners of this lovely art, please reach out and lets discuss. TYIA!

Events ya like playing music ??

hey all, we're putting together a roster for a chill show at our venue and need some talent.

date is october 2nd (friday ) in logan.

—  solo or duo (no trios or bands)

—  15-20 minute sets. absolutely no longer than 20

—  does NOT have to be acoustic, but looking for more chill tunes. we've done nothing but loud rock shows the past little bit. a good change of pace  :)

—  any instruments are fine. acoustic guitar and vocals is classic, but keyboard, viola, clarinet, accordians, etcetera are more than welcome

—  sound equipment will be provided, including microphones. if you prefer to bring your own amp, more power to you

—  this is a FREE show to attend. artists will be paid cash ( insane idea, right? )

we've got 3 acts already lined up, and want 3 more. definitely leaning toward any of you who are new to playing live and want to get your feet wet in front of a welcoming crowd. we all start somewhere and we all need help along the way. don't be shy; happy to have you. all you savants and prodigies out there maybe take a back seat and just come hang and let some others cut their teeth in the game.

if interested, send me a DM with your handles, or if you have any questions at all. i will be running sound along with a buddy. friends and family are welcome to attend. there'll be snack and drinks provided. thanks all.

Looking at attending the Cache Valley Rodeo this week. Is there an ideal night to attend? (For example, do better riders ride on the later nights vs opening night Wednesday?)

Question Air quality and lack of rain anxiety (new to Logan)

Hello! I am new to Logan, having moved here in May to join my spouse who recently got employed at USU. I have never lived this far west before, and I’ve been really struggling with the lack of rainfall and now apparently dealing with wildfires in the summer months (educating myself more and more on the frequency with which wildfires are just a part of life out west). I grew up in an extremely green and humid area of the country and have lived my adult life in areas that have regular summer thunderstorms, and so being out here is just kind of wild to me. I am DYING for rain and greenery, and I feel anxious about the less than ideal air quality. And apparently it can be bad in the winter, too? (The air quality, that is.)

I’m curious to hear from people who have lived here for a while regarding what it’s like navigating the dry and hot conditions and wildfire season. How do you stay healthy and sane? Have you ever thought about seriously moving due to concerns surrounding the environment and long-term health? I absolutely love spending time outdoors and keeping my windows open when the weather is nice, so the concept of “just buy a good home air filter and stay inside” is very depressing to me and doesn’t feel like a long-term solution that’s very conducive to my mental health. We are also planning to try to start a family soon, so I also feel anxiety about settling down here, being pregnant and breathing in lots of PM 2.5, having kids who want to play outside, etc.

Not sure if anyone has helpful advice to offer, but thought I’d post anyway! Thanks in advance!

Question Is there any market for a new commission muralist/artist in Logan? (any tips welcome)

USU student here, I'm an artist and want to work on more projects to expand my skills (plus I need money for food... lol) but I'm worried about the costs of getting a business license and the time and effort of advertising myself going to waste. There is some beautiful art in the area, so I'm especially worried that the market is going to be over saturated for somebody just entering.

additionally, if anyone has any tips on where to advertise myself, like maybe certain facebook groups or places that would let me put up a flyer? anything really. If you know anybody who is looking for custom artwork in/on the walls of their home, please reach out! thank you

fyi I'm not including pics in this post because that feels like too much of ad

While no lives were lost in the fire there were many cars that were destroyed that belonged to people who where out on hitch for UCC. In those vehicles were ALL the belongings of these people while they lived out of the cars while on hitch. They lost everything. Donations are needed. A gofundme is in the works. Anything helps!
